75 Whm and I (70 Sam) camped this yesterday. Took about 2 hours to pop, killed the place holder 8 times. We had just finished killing a Hastatus when it popped.

I just about died, only because protect and shell wore just as I pulled it. It casted Burst right from the start. I Tachi : Gekko to try and silence it but I think it's immune. I was better off using Tachi : Hobaku for stun. Oh well, without shell it brought me down from 1266 HP to about 120 o.o Third eye saved my hide when he swung his staff. Which gave my friend just enough time to cast Cure V and then IV to top me off.

Needless to say he pulled hate but as all that was happening I used meditate. So when it turned, I used Tachi : Gekko >> 2Hr >> Yaku for Induration followed by another Gekko for Fragmentation. Meanwhile my friend buffs us. That combo took him down to 1/4 HP and I still had 100% TP.

Even with all the damage it took. The quake it was casting didn't get interupted but with shell on I only took about 500 dmg. It started to cast burst right after so I used my TP to try and finish it off but it wasn't enough. Luckily my friend had built up enough TP to finish it with Hexa Strike :D

Dropped the Cloak and Stonega II (200k in Fairy) that my friend needed for his blm sub. No Quake though :/ Oh, well I got my cloak and it was well worth his time to have helped me. It was a good day. The fight only lasted about 2 minutes.

I feel like never wanting to go back to Quicksand Caves atm. Well... i started camping this NM 2 days ago, and from what i was seeing, it was a solid 2 Hrs pop of the Signifier in the area...

Then... It happened, of course this had to happen with me.

I had a night with nothing to do so i call 2 friends and there we go to quicksand caves. And we wait, and wait, and wait, and wait...

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Hours... Nothing.

Around 10 hours later it pops, and i get the cloak, with no usefull or expensive spell. Yes, there was tough competition, yes this was insane, yes i want to kill myself, yes i even dont know if this **** was worth the effort, yes im stupidly tired, in ways you cant even imagine, physically and mentally.

To hell centurio.

FYI to all the rangers out there...sleep bolts do not work on this guy. I was trying to kill him for my blm. I had planned on sleep bolting him to death then slug shot when TP was high enough. Boy was I in for a rude awakening when sleep bolts didn't work. Of course I had already used my 2 hour the PH spawn before when I got some linkage. Well, I got him to 10% before he killed me. I tried to shadowbind/log, and shadowbind stuck really well, but at the 5 second warning he hit me with drown, which was what actually killed me. And on another note bloody bolts get you 12 HP back, so might as well stick to real ammo. I'm gonna come back and kill him again, but this time I'm gonna bring some HP potions and he'll be cake. FYI, I attempted to solo as 70RNG/35NIN. If I was 74 he woulda been cake with utsu Ni, and yes this took place after the rng nerf.

Edit: Finally got robe on 14th kill. 1/14. Just keep at it if you don't get it. Camping it sucks, but it well worth it.

I am a 65RDM/BLM. Now I know I can't melee solo this guy but i was wondering, if I were to use the sleep-->nuke method what would my chances be? I almost soloed Ruby Quadav this way and he is lvl 69-70. If anyone thinks I can solo can anyone give me any info on his spawn area? Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm not denying that you could solo him in any way. I think it's very possible. But, He IS a BLM mob.. So he may have a pretty good sleep resistance. If he resists, And gets a Quake off.. Things could get ugly.. But if all your sleeps stick, Then you'll take em down no problem. Just make sure you have some buddies there, Links will be the death of you.

I went 1/3 on the cloak with this guy, got a stonega 2 and 3 in the process. First pop was 5 hours after the last kill. Second pop was 12 hours later; nobody had camped him after me and he popped after the first round of PH. Third was 5.5 hours later, with me killing PH mobs for about 1.5 hours total. I think the simplest way to do this is to get a pop once, the just log off or come back later - he's just not camped that often.

I NM finally popped after a hour and 30mins of waiting first time i pulled there as a link so i had to unfortunaly zone ;_; then when i came back in i fought it again but i died because i was to distracted ;_; the NM first silenced me and did Quake... FINALLY! i was able to kill him this time i kept my utsusemi up so i wouldnt be hit by the silence lucky the pld that got there didnt take it first he had to kill a few so no link ^^ I was hoping for the Stonega II but instead i got the Shaman's cloak which i didnt even want ;_; i have no use for it since im not even lvling my blm pass lvl 40.
All that just for that lame drop lol i got what the pld wanted though ^^

the job that i killed him w/ was:
first attempt: 74whm/37nin
second attempt: 74whm/37nin
KILLed NM: 74whm/37nin

I camped this guy for about 2 nights in a row trying to get the cloak for my Lvl 56 BLM that i'm leveling

1st fight: me and my lvl 75 MNK girlfriend camped it, after 2 hours of killing the ants in the room he popped, he slept me and she beat the crap out of him, dropped the scroll of Stonega 2, which sells for a nice 200k on my server

2nd fight this time i soloed it, he barely did 200 dmg total to me as I came as 75 WAR/NIN, Stonega II drops again as well as a Darksteel Ore, this time I didnt have to split with anyone ^^

3rd fight: not as easy as the 2nd time, he got me down to 50 HP (/panic) but only got an ant robe and a dark crystal :(

4th fight: this one really pissed me off, I soloed it rather easily after 2 hours of fighting ants in the room, but my inventory was filling up with antican pauldrons and some other random stuff, he pops, I kill it, CLOAK DROPS as well as an Adaman Ore, but my inv was full, so I go to clear up some space for it and...... THE SERVER BOOTS ME. got back and it wasnt in my inventory. I called a GM to yell at him and told them to fix their goddamn servers, theyve been having lots of problems like this lately.

5th fight: I brought along a lower lvl BLM from my linkshell cuz he needed the scroll of Stonega II, so we fight and he pops pretty quickly, killed it without any trouble and drops the cloak and Stone 3 as well as an iron ore. I let him keep the scroll since he'll be needing it sooner or later and I finally get my cloak.

I had also fought this once before for an LSmate that needed the cloak, and got him it in the first kill so overall on this NM out of 6 fights ive gotten the cloak 3 times. Pretty decent drop rate if you ask me.

I'm gonna continue fighting it for the scroll of Quake, which I also need and i'm not willing to spend 400k on that useless spell, there are a few BLMs in my LS that want a cloak too, so i'll get it and help them out at the same time.

all 5 times I camped it I had absolutely no competition at all, dunno if he's that uncamped on other servers, but I dont see too many BLMs with this cloak on either so I dunno.

went here for 30 seconds, killed 1 monster, and i turned around and he was there. Took me a bit to kill him as 67 smn but i won :( no drop. He slept me a few times but carby was at full HP when he did so i woke up before he died. towards the last few hits he sleepga II me and carby died so i casted earth spirit to finish him off.

I camped him [Blm 70/Whm 35] for about an hour each time over a period of 3 days. Yesterday I arrived, killed the Signifer, and started panicking as 3 other people arrived and started standing near me. False alarm though. Another placeholder popped, and the people cleared out. 15 minutes after I killed the placeholder, Centurio pops right in front of me. I stun, and try to silence 3 times, getting resisted each time. Also tried Sleep 2, he shrugged it off every time. This freak is highly succeptible to Bind, and that's what saved my taru tail.

I mainly used tier-3 nukes, used firaga 3 when area was clear. Blink was a necessity; while he doesn't cast very quickly, he does cast some serious firepower. I gladly sacrificed a single shadow to his AM on 2 or 3 occasions.

If I had brought some Yag/Melon drinks I could have conceivably taken him with no deus ex machina [Manafont]. He got loose from bind when I was in the middle of Fire 3, it went off and he was down to 1/5. I only had around 80 mp left, so I Bound him, Manafonted, and chain-nuked.

He died most honorably, and dropped a Shaman's Cloak, Quake, antican robe, and iron ore.

About this time I noticed that some people had shown up and were standing around. "Did he drop?" they were asking.

I used the Quake scroll, put on the cloak, and desynthed 2 cotton cloths from the antican robe. They congratulated me and I thanked them.

It was a good day.

Your Guide To Centurio X-I
# May 22 2005 at 11:35 AM Rating: Excellent
Ok. :D Just spent 12 hours or so with my good friend Centurio X-I, so I'll try and sum up everything about him.

-GETTING THERE-
Grab a Tele-port Altep and head to the mid-J-7/K-7 border position. This is the enterence to the correct quicksands. Once inside, you will see spiders and maybe beetles. Walking forward, you'll come to a left turn. After turning, continue walking straight and you will eventually reach a large room with Anticans, Helm Beetles, and two large pillars to your right as soon as you enter. I suggest sneak at this point, although if you *do* get aggro, you'll prolly have troubles with the NM if you're soloing him. ^^; But anyway, as soon as you enter this room, hug the *left* wall... hugging the right one will result in a detour. Hugging the left wall, you will soon come to a ledge. Fall off, and begin walking down the tunnel you'll see before you. Anticans and worms populate this tunnel. Worms do not aggro, Anticans will on sound. Again, do not waste MP/items on invisable. You will soon reach a room with a few large rocks in the ground. This room is populated with spiders (non-aggro), worms (non-aggro), and Anticans (sound aggro). If you walk to the western end of this room, you will eventually see a tunnel to your left. Ok, now this is gonna sound stupid, but... imagine laser beams or something are coming out of the tunnel. If you look a bit more to the west, you'll see another tunnel. Call the very beginning of the tunnel... point A. Centurio X-I will spawn anywhere between the 'laser beams' and point A. Congratulations; you are now at the Centurio X-I spawn!

-POPING AND CLAIMING YOUR NM-
Alright... for this step, a timer or stopwatch is very useful, especially if there is competition. This is because Antican Signifiers are on a 15-16 minute (real life) repop time, so you can just relax until you hit the 15 minute point. The Anticans in this room are called (please excuse my spelling ><) Antican Signifier (BLM), Antican Hastatecus (WAR), and Antican Prelaetus (PLD). They are all in the mid-high fifties. Now... Signifiers are your only concern. Unlike the NM, they will pop anywhere in the room you are in (There are other Signifiers in the tunnels leading off from this room; they do not matter). Only one Signifier in this room will be spawned at any given time; there is only one placeholder. Now your stopwatch comes in. The second you kill the Signifier, start your timer. Until it reaches 15 minutes, you can just ***** around; look for coffers, kill anything that moves, explore. Doesn't matter. However, if you don't have a ToD (time of death), you will want to be spamming for every second the Signifiers' window is up; do not miss a spawn no matter what, or it could mean your cloak! Now, I am a 69 Monk posting. I stood right in the 'laser beams' and spammed Chi Blast. The first spawn was just a bit out of range of my Chi Blast, and he went unclaimed for a few seconds, with 3 other campers there o.o... But I didn't panic, and dove into range and blasted his face full of Chi, just as "XXX starts casting Stun on Centurio X-I" went off. o.o (I'm the best, I know <_< *joking*). He is on a 2+ hour repop.

-THE FIGHT-
This guy is no joke. On my first fight (1/3 ^_^ too bad I passed on it for my RDM friend who now realizes his AF is better -_-;;;), he instantly began casting Aeroga II. Fighting Signifiers, Aeroga II didn't break 100 damage, so I just /laughed him. "Slayor takes 513 points of damage." o.o;;; At the time, I had a RDM (63)for cures, and to actually get the cloak. Not wanting another Aeroga incident to happen, he tried Silence. Didn't stick. Tried again. Didn't stick. Tried *again*. Didn't stick. He has high resistance to silence, so you might not want to bother wasting your MP. Well things are going fairly well; he used sleepga in every battle I had with him, so bring poison potions!! "Centurio X-I uses Manafont." "Centuio X-I starts casting Freeze." o.o; Ok, umm.... {Run away!}. I ran quickly out of range, but not wanting to get links or lose claim, I rushed back in. Well all of a sudden I see a Tornado around me... it didn't even say he was casting! So now I'm down to 125 HP, and I think I ruined my Sitabaki (MNK pants... <_<;;). It hit for 700 damage... not *that* bad... but I was low as it was, so if you do not have near-full HP, just run away from AM. A Divine Seal Cure IV fixed me right up, however. Well I think it's payback time now... "Slayor uses Hundred fists." Now, about a minute or so has passed up to the point where I 2 hour, and we've gotten him to 3/4. But 20 seconds after Hundred Fists... "Slayor defeats Centurio X-I." He tried many nukes, every spell was interrupted. Best. 2-Hour. Ever. <_< So the main point of that is low HP/DEf as a BLM should have. No cloak. T_T Now... on my second fight with him, he only enfeebled me. -.-; So your fight can go either way. Also, even if you don't need it, use your 2 hour. It can serve as a timer for it's window to re-open. Get a Cloak? Congratulations! Stonega II is fairly common, 100k on my server. Who says you can't get money from a R/EX item dropping NM? ^_^ Well, now you have 2 hours to waste if you didn't get it. If you did, but forgot Warp Scroll?...

-FORGET WARP? DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOUR LEVEL DEATH WARPING?-
Well, it's happened to the best of us. You're done somewhere, and you go to items... and forgot warp! Well, here's a guide out of your NM's area.
-Go to the previously mentioned 'Point A'.
-Enter the tunnel; you will reach a room with many Anticans in it very shortly.
-Go directly south, and you will see two drops, one East, one West. West is the Cloister of Tremors, where you fight Titan. West is a long route that I took each time to get out.
-Now, I'm honestly not sure if the way from Cloister of Tremors is faster. I never went that way. You can try if you'd like, but it's fairly risky because I can't garuntee where you'll end up. There are two tunnels in the Cloister. One is the enterence, but you fall of a ledge to get there, so you can't go back that way. The other tunnel may be quicker to the Desert. I really don't know.
-The Eastern route I can lead you through. Fall off the Eastern ledge, and you will see Cactuars(sound aggro).
-This is a tunnel with no other paths to go down, so it's hard to get lost. After a bit of walking, you'll reach a large room with Anticans. Keep walking to the tunnel oppisite the tunnel you came from.
-Now the Anticans are gone again, but not for long. Keep walking and you'll reach a four-way intersection with Anticans all over.
-Go to your left, aka east.
-Keep walking and The tunnel will narrow for just a second, then open into a large room with a pillar in the middle.
-Hug the left wall, and you will soon be out of this room.
-Now you're at a tunnel sloping up. It will soon turn left.
-Continue walking and you're finally out!

Sorry for it to be so long, but there are all the facts. ^_^

~Slayor, Odin. Monk 4 life. =O~

Camped this guy the other day with a PLD, RDM, BLM, WHM (Me). Thought we'd be fine since I brought echo drops and BLM could stun him, but the ******* decided to do a Sleepga immediately followed by Quake which one shotted the PLD and no one could do anything about it. Fortunately after he went after me, curaga'd to wake everyone else up and then owned him. He doesn't hit too hard IMO other than the AM. No drop though, but I know when I go back to camp him I'm bringing a poison potion with.

BTW, it didn't take too long for him to pop first time (less than an hour) but then we hung around for probably 3 or 4 more and no pop. Camp in the south tunnel like what that guide below says, there is nothing that will aggro you there to heal and you get a better view of the room than the north one. Signifier seemed to pop more frequently near the SW, but it did move around quite a bit.

he will normally pop between 2-3 hours if placeholders (signifiers) have been killed. there are 5 ants in this area and he will pop in place of a signifier. the reason ppl say he is a 2-5 hour pop pretty much means when his times went off not enough signifiers were killed in order for him to pop. hence the extra 2-3 hours. i solo him as a 73 pld. drop rate for cloak seems to be about 40%. quake a lot less (2/15). stone 3 seems to be most common drop and stonega 2 (80k) drops often as well. if u have competition camp in the center of spawn area. voke pretty much reaches everywhere he spawns from middle or spawn circle. if ur soloing stun (shield bash or ws in my case) on aga 2 spells and Run Away on AM spells. it makes life a lot easier. i use the long passage to solo him so i can run from AM and not aggro anything. if u farm consistently after pop he will respawn 2-3.25 hours later everytime.

OK, there is no way there's any pattern to this thing popping. My LS ( 6 of us ) camped this thing for 4 hours last night, with the signifier popping ALL OVER THE ROOM before Centurio popped. then all we get it is crap. 4 hours!!
and it popped on the east the west side in the center west east center all over the place, and there was NO pattern.

There were several NM that had a certain PH pop pattern telling about the pop time, obviously SE changed thaqt for alot mobs.
As for the NM: found it as brd75/war (helped some friends with AF coffer) and tried it....in the end i ate a Quake for ~1.5k dmg ending the fight for me.... RDM65 friend who was with me, came in, used Chainspell to buff and raise me and then made short work off the NM. Note the RDM couldnt land (elemental seal+) Silence at all, also Manafont can neither be stunned nor interrupted.
BRD/WHM is out of question since especially his ancient magic can ignore the WHM blink spell (and thus kill u, a taru brd75/whm found that out the unpleasent way).

I solo'd it as BRD75/NIN, dual wielding Joyeuse+Hornetneedle, used dual mambo+2 (kinda pointless as brd, but whatever) and switched to dual paeon+2 when i took an AoE....i might have been lucky that he didnt use much AoE, but it was a very easy fight (killed a 2nd time later). I'd say about any job with NIN sub and utsusemi: ni can solo him quite easily (bring echo drop).

repop timer somewhere 2hrs-5hrs or more

Well, just yesterday my LS went for this guy to hopefully get 2 shaman's cloaks for two of our blms, and damn were we on fire! First of all, I'd like to support swamps post on his theory of the spawning pattern. I came into camping this NM trying to prove that theory right or wrong, and it turns out the thing did exactly what swamps said.

1hr into killing placeholders, we notice the signifier changed his popping position. Previously he was popping in the right side of the room(positioned at H-10 tunnel), then it changed to the left side of the room. I alerted everyone it might pop soon, we killed another cycle of ants, and BAM out came Centurio right in front of us(H-10 tunnel). We rest, start fight, sucker started casting quake, stunned, we go on, he started castin flood, stunned, we go on, started casting flood again, no one saw it but me(PLD) and drk, her stun wasnt rdy yet, we both bashed to try and stop the castin w/o success! Neither of the 2 blms saw the casting, so few seconds later, BAM "Centurio X-I casts Flood" "Cloudstrif takes 1441 damage" "Cloudstrif was defeated by Centurio X-I" "Cloudstrif falls to level 65" (Got 66 back with R2) lol!

Since it was almost dead, everyone else managed to kill it easily and BAM "You find a Shaman's Cloak on the Centurio X-I" lol!

We decided to stay for a second pop, so we begin killing stuff for skill ups. 2hrs into killing stuff, we noticed again the Signifier changed pos, and this time instead of 4 ants spawning, only 3 came out (same thing happened 1st time). We were like "Its coming". So starting the next wave of ants a princeps popped, we killed, and right after that Centurio X-I came out again! we had competition this time, but it popped again right in front of our camp, and I managd to voke it! This time we had more DD's and killed it faster, and it only tried to cast flood once, was stunned!

Results? "You find a Shaman's Cloak on Centurio X-I" plus other stuff, including Stonega II (100k in Garuda), which I won lotting 748, but later on gave it to one of the blms since he didnt have it! (/sigh lvl 57 blm w/o a 40ish spell)!

So there u go, 2 pops, 2 cloaks! Easy NM, just watch for those ancients, seems like a 2hr spawn, and watch for those signifiers! We were feeling lucky so we also went for a Obow later on for one of our RNGs and also got the drop, lmao! Then we went for Tavnazian Bell for one of our WHMs, and got bell in 6th kill!!!! Very good day for all of us! lol

Maybe if people didn't insist on jacking the price (~300k on Bahamut last I checked), more BLMs would have it.

Stonega II gets skipped regularly because very few parties ever do Scission skillchains, and most of the other skillchains that have an earth element have something more powerful to be bursted instead.

XD That's why you don't send a paladin to do a ninjas job.

Solod as a 62 nin.

"Centurio X-I starts casting quake"
"Centurio X-I casts quake"
"1 of Mgirardi's shadows absorbs the damage and disappears."

No drop, blm I was with was unhappy, but I got stonega II for my blm.
