They would reportedly go around cutting mosquito nets, fishing nets, and laundry hung out to dry, hence the name Amikiri (in Japanese, Amikiri means "Net Cutter")

Amikiri is a Lv83 NM. I've killed him 4 times now in a party of less than 6 people each time, and judging by the exp he has been 83 each time.

Amikiri can be duo'd, despite popular belief.. he does not take 18 people to kill or even 12. I am MNK75/NIN37 and I managed to duo it with a RDM75/WHM37 with ease. :) It took about 1 hour and 30 minutes, but we won, and claw dropped first time ^_^. RDM and BLM can duo aswell, in about 30min, providing one subs WHM in case of paralyze.

First time we duo'd we got 240 exp each out of the deal, and when we trio'd I think it was 180. (Sometimes we bring along a SAM or PLD, or THF, for Spirit's Within every few min, speeds the battle up a lot.)

I think a harder NM is Bune, which could be duo'd by a NIN/WAR and RDM/WHM. I trio'd with RDM/WHM, BRD/WHM and MNK/NIN(me). :P

I decided yesterday to take a try at meleeing Amikiri, since that seems to be the big thing and the reason a lot of people die to him. We fought him with:

74 PLD/WAR(flash only, and cures in the back)
75 RDM/WHM(main enfeebler)
71 RDM/BLM(keep MP up and haste)
75 WHM/BLM(paralyna, erase, healing from breath moves and utsusemi slips)
75 MNK/NIN(me, and I tanked the hell out of him)
74 RNG/NIN(occassionally tanked for a few seconds when he pulled hate, but mainly for damage)
75 BRD/WHM(dual mambos and of course Elegy, both being very important)

Just 7 people with MNK/NIN tank. To solve hate issues we fought it at the zoneline to teriggan. I boosted up 10-11 times before battle and engaged with a 800 damage chi blast, quickly macrod into my evasion set and opened with Asuran Fists which sucked(146 :P). On average I hit him for 5-30 with food on, and the ranger's attack usually did around 50-70. He would get TP, do SC Dragon Kick > Heavy Shot, the RDMs would MB and anyone with hate zoned. Then I tank per usual until TP is ready again. The battle lasted no more than 20 minutes and was rather easy. There was no need for 2 tanks, and with a NIN tank with dual mambos you could trio this thing no problem. RDM/WHM, NIN/WAR, BRD/WHM would own it, albeit the battle would be much longer. No claw drop again though, 1/7 I think now.

The best way to kill Amikiri, without aggroing bones coz of yellow HP is to have a RDM Elemental Seal + Gravity. This will give time to the RDM to cast sneak to get past the bones. When u get to the Goblin area wait for it so its in viewing Range, then cast Inivisble to cross the Goblin's and bring Amikiri to Bune's pop place. Nothing should aggro there. Btw before attempting to pull Amikiri to Bune's place, make sure you have a Party to take the Typhoon Wyvern before. I did it with my LS and it worked perfectly, we got no Claw but we got the Great Katana.

Heres the strategy we used:

We all know scorpions NM'S uses a ws called Death Scissor. We had 2 tank, (Me and the other Pld from my ls). We each had all Adaman Set, with Earth staff, Melees were taking TP of other mobs around (Leech, Lizzy, Gobs), and only engage to do a WS, we asked certain job to sub Thf for SATA use. Hate is exchange betwen me and my friend. Once my friend got Death Scissor he died, so RDM gravitied it and I kited him around, because if the second tank falls because of Death Scissors, your screwed, when the other Pld was not Weakened anymore, we wenr back fighting him Static way. After that it was just a fun battle. I had Pro 4, Fish Chief, Defender and he was hitting me in betwen 80-120. Death Scissor did 1k to me and 1k to my friend. Also we had 2 Brd's in our pt. We asked 1 Brd to cast Knight Minne 3 and 4 for defense, and the Other to cats 2x Ballad. If u have Blink Tanking I suggest 2x Mambo and 2x March Song.

I hope this info helps.

One thing tho, if your LS can't take down Serket, or you died trying Serket, I don't suggest you to get even near it, Amikiri is the +3 Version of Serket, lol.

Good Luck guys

That reminded me, I fought Aquarius a few days ago, and he was as big as the Mithra standing right next to me. I never really noticed how huge he was until she stood right next to him. It was hilareous.

I had just the opposite problem, I pulled aquarius on accident thinking he was just like a regular robber crab. Kinda scarry when a "Robber Crab" hits you for 330 dmg.

But same diff they still look messed up..

Killed this HNM a couple days ago with my LS. Took about 16 of us to take it down and we had a lv74 and 75 ninja tank it... first attempt we all died because of add from a Doom soldier (had amikiri down to 30% HP). Be careful as even the safest pull zones have 1 doom soldier spawn close by. 2nd time we regrouped and killed it with only 1 or 2 casualties. Physical dmg is very weak against this scorpion HNM so take many BLMs and at least 2 ninja tanks with drk/thf or thf to trick onto ninjas.

I got the Kamewari drop since I am the only samurai in the LS and afterwards we killed Taxim and Bune. Both were cake compared to Amikiri
