Historical Information

Zhu Que (Suzaku in Japanese) is one of the four symbols of the Chinese Constellations, representing the "Vermillion Bird of the South" and of the season of Summer. The other three symbols being the "Black Tortoise of the North", the "White Tiger of the West", and the "Azure Dragon of the East".

Each symbol corresponded to an element in the Five Element system, with Zhu Que corresponding to the element of fire.

  • In the Five Element system in China, there is a 5th legendary beast known as Huang Long, the Yellow Dragon of the Center. While there is no direct equivalent in Japanese, Huang Long is believed to be linked to the dragon Ouryu

EVERYONE MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR BOMB QUEEN AND JELLY RINGS WHEN YOU FIGHT SUZAKU!
thank u
RE: rings
# May 23 2006 at 5:54 PM Rating: Default
I just wore my Bomb Queen ring while fighting her and I took the same damage as the other Paladin in the alliance from Fire spells. The -75 Fire resistance doesn't mean that a player will take much more damage, it means that the chances of resisting a fire spell are much, much lower. But in a fight like this, one would probably need 200+ fire resistance to even have a chance of resisting anyway. We were all hit for the maximum damage from Fire spells, that's all. The -75 Fire resistance won't raise the maximum amout of damage from the spell, just chance of resisting. So Bomb Queen ring is definatly still worth wearing for the +75 HP. But definatly stay away from wearing a Jelly ring though.

Dispel will not remove any of the God's En- spells, the only way to remove them is to throw one of the Wind's at the God, which in this case I think is the Antarctic Wind (have a NIN or a RNG with unlimited shot do this) and if it hit's it will dispel it's En-. Our NIN did this earlier tonight and Suzaku was hitting the PLD's no harder than an exp mob was which is alot more manageable than that 150+ Added Effect from En- does >.>.

Tanked this guy as a 75/37 WAR/NIN.
This had to be one of the funniest times that I have had tanking a NM.
I ended up taking his chain spell head on. I took 4223 damage from from fire spells alone, not counting melee.

And yes he does drop the V. Claw.

GRAW!!!
# Jan 02 2005 at 3:11 AM Rating: Default
Orz~ i hate suzaku! Hes weak, a PLD can tank it with relative ease assuming you dispell his enfire w the antarctic wind. (neenja power!) anyhoo, biggest problem here is chainspell, its not fun! odds are by the time he chainspells, the tank will be dead, if not, you have a good Chainspell + Stunner. O yea, a RDM/DRK 74+ is needed for him, chainspell + stun, really helps to stop his constant casting. (/goodbye Red Mage) unfortuantly, 30 seconds of constant stun will get the RDM so much hate, he'll likley die (unless u have a good tank~) Well Gl on this astoundingly large bird...GRAW!!!!
rdm/drk

rdm/drk good to have for this when it two hrs. You just shadowbind it and hope for the shadowbinds / binds to stick til it's two hr wears off. The good thing bout the rdm/drk is that he can just shoot off chainspell stun stun stun the **** outta suzaku so that he can't cast anything during two hr. Anyways just a tip and yes it looks super cool now.

Uses all Fire-based magic. Fire IV, Flare, Firaga III, and Burn. Two-hour ability is Chainspell, and he can use it anywhere between 75% HP and 10% HP. Magic is strongest of the four godbeasts in Ru'Aun Gardens.

For someone who's wrong, you're sure being an *** about it. It's not a rumor; he does drop the claw, but last time I saw it happen was a few months ago. A lot of screenshots were posted on a number of forums, but since it was so long ago, it would take awhile to dig up. :( At least one of the forums that I knew contained it has been shut down.

He's not as bad as the other gods but he does have some big problems such as Triple attack skill he killed our pld instantly cause 2 of the 3 attacks were critical hits and enfire did him in other than that just stun -ga 3 and flare and whm's keep on their toes to cure the tank when it uses triple attack. Suzaku 2hours then rdm/drk blast it with chainspell and stun which will save everyone but most likely spells doom for the rdm with hate.
easy of the 4
# Aug 10 2004 at 4:44 AM Rating: Decent
He is easier then Genbu overall, but once he uses his 2-Hour Chainspell ability and tries chaincasting Flare and Firag3, he becomes a big problem for those 30/40secs... but overall he is much easier then Genbu, doesnt hit nearly as hard as Genbu does either.

I don't think he's the easiest...Genbu attacks slowly, and his special attacks are nothing special, and his two-hour ability is negligable.

This guy hits fairly fast, with insane accuracy, has stronger magic than Genbu, and his two-hour will kill everyone there if you don't react with multiple Stun spells. In addition, most of his special attacks ignore Utsusemi, and still cause damage, unlike the Tortoise Stomp and Headbutt of Genbu.

I'd say this guy is definately harder than Genbu.

Fortunately this is arguably one of the easiest guardians to kill as long as you have either a Ranger or two Black Mages with elemental seal ready during it's 2 hour attack. (chainspell) My linkshell recently killed him with only 9 people and it really wasn't a very hard fight, although it did take quite a while to finish though.

I got the seal outta someone's Bazaar and somebody said you need all 4 Beast God seals to spawn Kirin. Anyone know if that's correct? If not, what good is this darn seal?

Yes, it's correct. You need the Seal of Suzaku, Seal of Genbu, Seal of Byakko, and Seal of Seiryu to trade to some target to spawn Kirin.
