Over the last 3 days I along with LS members and friends have camped,claimed, and defeat this guy 5 times. No drop. This guy is not hard at all to defeat but the drop is rediculous apparently. Fight has gotten really easy for us. Weve been able to take it with me Rng66/nin and friend Enoikos 74Rng/nin and Kerbie 71Blm/whm. Enoikos just blink tanks while fighting and we kind of trade hate. Hes been really good at blinking the Eagle Eye and after that the fight is a cake walk. Kerbie does healing and enfeebles as well as the occasional nuke. Still no drops though... Its becoming really depressing.
Info:Pop time is 2-8hrs after death. Placeholders are Goblin Sheperds only. they spawn in the immdeiate room North of xp spot and east of there as well. 2 sheperd pop spots become the NM pop location. Hope that helps.

i hate this guy, i spent 8hrs, count it, 8 hours,
and he didnt spawn, i had 8 lvl 75s with me for the last 3.5hrs, I unbelievable. i want this xbow soo bad, lol but i got to see bune pop. well good luck to all the future campers, i will be taking a break from this guy, since i am 0/2 when he does pop ><

about 3 days ago i was pting in gustav, the party was 56-58 i believe, setup was 3 blms, whm, brd and me pld, aanyway wyvernpoacher spawns, were discussing whether to kill it or not. we decided to give it a try, anyway everything is going well. blms nuking it, took it to about 3/4 of his hp, whm gets killed, either by an eagle eye shot or dmg of a bomb toss i forget. anyway about a min later we beat him, no drop. later on a pt of lvl 60+ came to camp the wyvernpoacher. they go off to kill another NM when he spawns again, this time a blm had disconneted so we could not take it. we make an aliiance with the lvl 60+ and we kill it. and get drop.
Got my bow today, man am I pumped! He popped about 4 hours after his last kill. I got a lil depressed, cuz it took a while to read out the drops, but when I finally saw it, I almost had a heart attack. Thanks to basically my entire linkshell (Xiphias on Valefor) for ther help, and encouragement. If it wssnt for them, I wouldn't have half the stuff I do.

Today my party was Exping in Gustav Tunnel, before i had gotten there they had already killed him once, and gotten the drop. Two hours later he popped. Since we were the only pt there and only people high enough to kill we full rested, got some TP from other gobs, and then pulled. Our set up was Federer 59 Ninja, Mcintosh(me) 59 Ranger, 58 Blm Crt, 58 drk Hensen, and 59 smn Menel-something(sorry bro), Tkt 59 Ranger, and one of the members had a 75 whm pling us. So we pull the gob, everything is going perfectly til....he decides to eagle eye shot the whm...naturally the whm dies, so from half hp the nin tanked with very few cures because Crt was subbing smn for more mp...well mene had to do some curing. This was when the gob was at half hp, The i do sidewinder > barrage for about 1/4 of his over all hp, Tkt followed with the same thing. One dead gob, and another Obow drop. Lucky for me i roled a 845 and won. I was kinda let down on how easy the fight was even without a Whm, probably took us 1-2 minutes to kill him. reguardless it was well worth it. i dont want to give a false sense of him being easy, it was just our party that made it easy.
About 4 hours ago, was in an exp pt in Gustav, at 57-58: 2 Rng/Nin (Me & Flanj), Nin/War (Buggs), Smn/Whm (Lekyo), Brd/Whm (Lilhilor), Whm/Blm (Buttercuup).
As the dumb Rng/Nin main puller, I was keeping my eye out for Wyvernpoacher, as was a JP 75 Thf/Nin camper.
We're about 1/4th through a Goblin Shepherd we're fighting for exp, when Wyvernpoacher spawns. I switch targets, run up and Shadowbind him, then run back to finish off the Shepherd, hoping I can hold claim long enough. I go nuts on the Shepherd: Sharpshot, Barrage, Slug Shot, EES. ***** Utsusemi. After my EES, Wyvernpoacher is "white" again. I fire off a shot at him, it misses, so Shadowbind is still holding him and I've restored claim. Return to the Shepherd who is 80% dead. Just as we finish off the Shepherd, the JP THF claims Wyvernpoacher as he turns "white" again with a missed xbow shot and a few weak dagger swings. But I'm still holding hate from Shadowbind. Wyvernpoacher keeps on me for like 500 dmg, and our mages get hurt as well, who frantically cure me and gain hate of their own. I'm about to go MPK this THF for essentially MPKing me and my pt. Our Nin then /tells him: "you stole". In perhaps one of the more honorable things I've seen in this game, he logs out and back in a minute later to reset hate and gives us back claim on Wyvernpoacher.
Sadly, we've got less than 30% MP and a lot of us have taken a lot of damage from the previous Shepherd's bomb tosses and from that mini-MPK episode. So what do I do? I run far from the party and keep shooting Wyvernpoacher. Sounds like Rng-tank-deathwish as I'm outside Cure spell range, but I use that one irritating trait when pulling a RNG-type mob to our advantage. They don't follow you closely, so you have to run extra far past your camp to get them to your camp. With that hate on me, I wait for the Nin to provoke a few times and attack him from behind, mages rest, brd plays his songs, and other Rng fires away. Wyvernpoacher is just shooting his xbow at me from a distance, not getting in any melee attacks. His xbow is slow & infrequent & doesn't interrupt utsusemi casting. I get hit for 150-170 dmg each shot. His melee is faster and interrupts utsusemi easily and does 200-260. Good trade-off.
Our mages get to around 70-75% MP. And our Nin gets hate. Whenever I regain hate, I keep kiting Wyvernpoacher around while squeezing in as many silver bullets as I can. Even though our pt planned to disband shortly, I use a squid sushi +1 to improve my rng acc and get prelude too. The other rng doesn't have these up and doesn't hit as often, although she later has the same. Our Nin even uses a squid sushi JUST for this fight. Thankfully Wyvernpoacher doesn't follow me on foot much, mainly pauses to slowly use that xbow of his. I manage to get utsusemi up just in time to absorb his EES which he fired around 70% HP. From there, i just continue to do the same thing: shoot from a distance. When Wyvernpoacher sometimes runs after me, just keep kiting til Nin gets hate back. I unload Slug Shot when the Nin gets into trouble from Bomb Toss dmg or down shadows or when the other Rng gets hate, just to give the pt time to recover. Key is: cast utsusemi only when he's using his xbow to avoid interruption, run when he's swinging away at you.
Thankfully, he has much weaker bomb tosses than expected for a 70-75 NM Gob. But Earthen Ward and Barfira helped chew some of those up. The SMN went more offensive on Wyvernpoacher and we eventually we kill him. And NOBODY in our 57-58 pt dies and we had no help, unless you count 4 non-SATA dagger swings that THF got in early on. (Probably did as much damage as 1 of our silver bullets). Our drops:

Yeah, I was kinda confused about the exp, but then i remembered that 75 Thf touched him. So exp was nerfed, but drops probably improved. (Good trade-off). I got to keep the bow. And I even won the lot on the gold coin..lol.
Morales of this story: Utsusemi makes seemingly impossible things possible (Our pt would've died with a PLD tank on this one). This is one instance where RNG damage is preferable to BLM. Stay calm and use some strategy when doing things you're not supposed to. My only regret: I wish I were writing this story about Fransisca, Damescene Cloth, Aquarius, and my level 50 exp pt in Boyahda. =P

Let me just add. This was like the easiest and best party i have been in, in a really long time.. We made bad on this NM and he just shut up and took it like a little gobbie should.!!!
I was in Gustav with a lvl 58-59 party: NIN RNG (me) THF WHM RDM BLM. This NM spawns next to us, and my LS tells me that it drops a necessary RNG bow. So right after I pull, my BLM starts cursing because he found out it was lvl 70-75! Well, the battle's already going on, so we don't try to zone. The fight was pretty easy, and everything was smooth ... until it used Eagle Eye Shot on the NIN tank. 900 pt of damage, he goes down. Then he started attacking me frantically so when I had 100 HP left, I used my 2hr and i died. But the BLM killed it right after with Blizzard. The O-Bow dropped and when everyone found out it was rare/ex, they let me keep it ^^

I was here as 60RDM/20RNG for archery skill up with my ninja buddy, and i see this japanese paladin run past, half dead, 73+ cause he was in all Adaman armor, and i widescan and see this pucker along with abunch of gobs chasing him. So i invite the pld, who was alone, and we try beating on him, so i gravity him and we zone, to heal up and such, we run in, and theres a mnk/whm trying to solo him, he's quickly destroyed. we follow this guy, back to his spawn, and we notice a level 58-59 party going to EXP on the gobs there, we we ally with them, and engage this sucker, took about 5 minutes, I buffed, and we started beatin it, the only worry we had was he was using his bomb toss alot~, well no deaths but a brd in the XP pt, its about half dead, i begin to start nuking it with chainspell, haha, it EES'd my Blink shadow ^^;. Anywho, we kill it, O. Bow, Gold Beast coin, and i got.. 1200? yeah, the PLD got it cause his rng was 68, and i got 140k for helping ^^y

I had an XP pt in Gustav where I dinged 59. As our thf pulls in a Gobbie, he says Wyvernpoacher is out. We do /sea after the battle and our pt is the only one in the tunnel. So we wait around a bit and pull some more gobbies. Then another XP pt comes in. They have a RNG, so we decide to help her get the O Bow. I ask if I'm the main tank. The other PT has a lv 55 PLD wearing some questionable gear, so they say yes. Our THF runs out and I see:
"Pulling Wyvernpoacher Drachlox!! <call>"
I run out (the area was clear of gobs), and voke/flash as the gob comes in. He decided to stay back and do ranged attacks, I locked-off and run up towards the tunnel with EP bats/lizzes. He ran into the tunnel area. The RNG, DRK, SAM, and War/Nin were going all out, and I was holding hate like a champ ^^)b
Then it happened, there was a loud rumbling, my screen started shaking like crazy, at first I thought there was an earthquake in game (yea crazy, I know :P). Then my HP drops to 0 >.<
Eagle Eye Shot got me for 687 damage when I was in the orange. The PLD in the other PT voked, flashed, sentineled, shield bashed, and after getting a nice chunk out of her, invincibled, and they managed to kill it a few seconds later.

Duoed him w/ a 75 mnk/nin and 75 rdm/blm. Very easy fight due mainly to awesome the mnk/nin. We pulled him but got a gob link so I got as much hate as I could on Drachlox and kept gravity on him. He would attack me w/ ranged attacks which were easily countered w/ blink and stoneskin. Once the mnk finished off the link, he went all at it on Drachlox. With a few enfeebs and heals he was dead in no time and I finally got the O-Bow for my rng. It did take about 9 hours to pop him however because I had killed him atfter a maintenance and ended up exp partying there for about 6 hours then went back to kill placeholders for about 3 hours. We thought his pop time was messed up but better late than never.

camped from 5:30pm to 3 am and didnt see a single pop. went to sleep, some jp friends of mine showed up 30 minutes after we left and they didnt see a pop until they went to sleep either. logged in at 11:30 and saw a nin kiting him. nin died and some bst claimed and killed him.
yes we were killing placeholders. no, nobody else could have possibly claimed and killed without us noticing. we called a gm around 1:30 am and said the spawn was broken (whether it was or wasnt, we didnt care. we wanted a pop heh). gm said that he "wasn't seeing any problems". he was also about the most worthless gm i've ever seen also.

finally killed him today. pt was me (62 nin), 66 brd, 58 whm, 66 war/nin. w/ haste and elegy i was able to keep shadows up fine. after EES (blinked) the war hit a 900 dmg rampage, i couldnt get hate back and he died. did the rest of the dmg myself for like 15 minutes. bow drop. good times. every time ive seen him spawn, its been near the corner to the east of the ramp down to map 2. he used EES fairly early, 75% hp or so. i had absolute garbage equip (i sold all my ninja stuff) and it wasnt even nighttime for my af pants and could still tank this guy at 62. elegy and haste win.

After camping the NM I finally got my 2nd claim of the day, which also happens to be the claim when the bow dropped. It was four hours after my last claim when Wyvernpoacher pops again. It was me (66RNG/NIN), 75THF/NIN, and a 75PLD/NIN. The plan was to initially keep a safe distance between you and the NM forcing him to shoot his bow and hopefully use his 2hr early. It was going alright at first until the NM decides he didn't want to shoot but he wanted to melee (his dagger has a very low delay which will rip through shadows). The fight ended up 1v1 THF vs NM and all the way from the gob camp to the main tunnel. Out of nowhere while the THF was recasting Utsusemi the NM decides to hit EES hitting the THF for 1284dmg =X. Down the THF goes and the PLD steps in, 2hrs, and raises the THF. The PLD then immidieately attempts to kite and zone to buy us more time, but unfortunetly on the way to the zone he ends up training every possible gob. I shadowbind to buy some time and off to the zone we go (towards Cape Terrigan). While this is happening the THF is frantically finding easy mobs to use bloody bolts to regain some life. Moments later the PLD makes it to the zone and the THF reclaims the NM and begins to re-kite to buy some time for the weakness to wear off. Up and down we go and I shadowbind for the 2nd time to buy a little more time (imagine going up and down for 5 min waiting for recast on Shadowbind). At this moment the NM had about 35-40% of his life still and still going strong. The THF then commands me to fight the 'poacher', and me being the dumb RNG immidieately attack the NM when all along she meant the Goblin Poacher. Barrage, Sharpshot activates and I ready Slug Shot (hits for 6XX), and follow it with a barrage (5XX). At this point of time I had no shadows and the NM is hitting me for well over 200 and down I go ; ;. Weakness wears off immideately after and the PLD uses his last MP to heal. The THF then finishes the NM off and the bow drops, I get raised, and I cast lot ^^. Sorry for the long story.
Notes to keep in mind:
- Don't bother Killing the gobs near the NE tunneland don't bother killing the gobs near the NW tunnels either.
- There is no fixed spawn time so don't expect it to spawn exactly Xhrs later so prepare for the worse.
- Look out for EES because the NM will let it out at any random time.
- Killing the crabs proves a bit useful when deciding the next spawn.

Just got my bow like 30 minutes ago. I tanked as my 73rng/nin. Had a 70 SAM and 74 RDM. EES did 214 damage to me. And as a ranger you must know that that is a smal amount. Took him down with me only droping to red once after EES. But other than that I got my drop. People really shouldnt be afraid to kill him.

I saw this guy several times months and months ago in Gustav while leveling RDM... always pretty much ignored him.
Anyway, when I was leveling RNG in Gustav about a week ago and he popped. My pt was the only ppl there, so I asked if it'd be ok if I warped back to Jeuno, change to my 74 RDM/NIN and try to take this guy out. No one objected, but while I was in Jeuno, we lost our RDM and WHM. So, by the time I got back to Gustav, it was just me, a lvl 55 PLD, 56 SAM and a 56 BLM. I told the others not to engage since I couldn't really hold hate well as a RDM. He ended up being a lot tougher than I thought. I got Wyvernpoacher down to ~1/3 HP before I died (I had received 4-5 Cure IIIs from our PLD). Not a friendly mob to try to blink tank... uses a dagger (low delay), has double attack and uses a xbow w/ practically no delay on it... very easy for him to knock off three shadows in 2-3 seconds. And his attacks were fairly strong too, he'd wear of my Stoneskin (+Phalanx) w/ 3-4 attacks. On top of that, he has a fairly high evasion, so, even though I had plenty of acc+ gear on, I still missed ~1/2 my attacks. Basically, he was just beyond my soloing abilities. I think if I got my sword and dagger skills capped (both only at 215, could be ~245) and I wore more MP+ gear, I could possibly solo this guy.
Anyway, after I died, I asked one of my LSs for help and a 67-72 PLD, WHM, THF, and WAR came. The five of us killed it in about a minute, but no drop.
Then, a few days later, a LS member (and friend) was exping there in Gustav and gave me the heads up when Wyvernpoacher popped. I told my 74 THF friend (who also has a RNG and would like an o.bow) and we decided to go try to duo it. Before we got there though, a pt in their mid to uper 60s exping off skeles grabbed Wyvernpoacher but wiped... how sad. So, as my THF friend and I were still getting there, my friend who was already there exping offered to kite it until we got there. Well, when he pulled, he also got an add, so he died just as me and the THF reached him. The THF tossed up Utsusemi: Ni and engaged... I gave him Haste and myself Refresh and Stonskin and those were the only buffs I had time to toss up. All was going fine... good thing THFs have high evasion/AGI, b/c my THF friend could only get Ni up here and there, just had to hope to evade lots of Wyvernpaocher's attacks. Basically, I just debuffed Wyvernpaocher, Cured my THF friend when needed and rested when I could. In a matter of about 2 min. Wyvernpaocher was already at 1/3 HP and I still had 1/3 of my MP (and Convert was still up), then Wyvernpaocher used Eagle Eye Shot, doing 1000+ dmg, kiling my THF friend. I paniced, and instead of trying to sleep Wyvernpaocher, I simply tried to raise the THF w/ Wyvernpaocher on me... didn't work, lol. So, I died, and no more than 5 secs later, a full pt of 70+ ran up and killed him in 15-20 secs flat and got the drop.
Now, my THF friend and I are ready to try again... and just be better prepared this time. I think if the THF has Protect 4 on, EES won't 1-shot him, and when if it hits him, he can 2 hr, so I can gradually heal him w/o drawing aggro. And if the THF does die, I'll be ready w/ Sleep.
So, even though Wyvernpaocher is tougher than I expected, my gut feeling is he's doable w/ 1-2 lvl 74-75 ppl, you just need to be on top of your game.
Anyway, when I was leveling RNG in Gustav about a week ago and he popped. My pt was the only ppl there, so I asked if it'd be ok if I warped back to Jeuno, change to my 74 RDM/NIN and try to take this guy out. No one objected, but while I was in Jeuno, we lost our RDM and WHM. So, by the time I got back to Gustav, it was just me, a lvl 55 PLD, 56 SAM and a 56 BLM. I told the others not to engage since I couldn't really hold hate well as a RDM. He ended up being a lot tougher than I thought. I got Wyvernpoacher down to ~1/3 HP before I died (I had received 4-5 Cure IIIs from our PLD). Not a friendly mob to try to blink tank... uses a dagger (low delay), has double attack and uses a xbow w/ practically no delay on it... very easy for him to knock off three shadows in 2-3 seconds. And his attacks were fairly strong too, he'd wear of my Stoneskin (+Phalanx) w/ 3-4 attacks. On top of that, he has a fairly high evasion, so, even though I had plenty of acc+ gear on, I still missed ~1/2 my attacks. Basically, he was just beyond my soloing abilities. I think if I got my sword and dagger skills capped (both only at 215, could be ~245) and I wore more MP+ gear, I could possibly solo this guy.
Anyway, after I died, I asked one of my LSs for help and a 67-72 PLD, WHM, THF, and WAR came. The five of us killed it in about a minute, but no drop.

my pt of 55-57 took him on, got him down to ~5% with 4 lvl 70+ standing there watching.. as soon as we died they hit it once and killed it. I hope to hell they did not get the drop.
was a good 10 min fight, kept him at a distance since his xbow attacks did 70-90 dmg and his close range hits did 170 or so.. His EES took me down from ~900 hp to 36 o_O
anyways that pt wipeout with a cure3/4 nearby but being greedy pretty much killed the fun of the pt, and got a few more exp then disbanded.

I was PT'ing in Gustav when he spawned... i was lvl 58 i believe. My exp PT attempted a solo >.> lol, got it to 2/3 health though O.o... and nah, i didnt need Invincible. He still got me though >.< so the other PT with us all decided to alliance and kill him. I tanked, he killed me again with Eagle Eye Shot (657 dmg) i got a raise b4 the fight was over and hit Invincible... Barely killed him as it fell (thank god) he dropped the bow, i lotted for 938 ^^ And then they dissolved the alliance... O.O henceforth, the drop was lost and I walk away with a picture of him KICKING MY @$$... fun though, lol
I was leveling in Gustav last night he popped in front of us. Level 59-60 (yeah, i know crap EXP there for 60 but only invite i got in hours..Small EXP is better than no EXP.) Anyways, we killed him quick as a party of 6 with RNG,PLD(me), WHM, BLM, MONK, RDM. Fight was only 5 minutes long at most..No way he's 70-75. Just my opinion. And BTW we did get the bow drop.
