Just beat him half an hour ago. Well not quite me. Was 50BST and levelling off goblin's leeches when this guy decides he wants to scare me with his presence. Told my 75 BLM friend Lordwafik who informed his HNMLS about it and in the end i think 6 of them came down.
Battle wasn't very long at all, I was allowed in the party (alliance with 7) so I could lot on anything that dropped besides the bow. Well in the end EVERYTHING dropped and the rdm who also has a rng got a shiny new bow.

I just beat him in a party of WHM58, RNG58, MNK59, THF58, BRD59, PLD58. All 2-hours except BRD and WHM were used, and we built up 300% TP before the fight. The WHM was out of MP and about to use Benediction when WD died. I used Soul Voice to prep for the battle, but we had to kill some pops and it wore off.
Got the bow, our RNG was very happy. The RNG75 who showed up a couple of minutes later wasn't as happy. :}
We got 220xp for the fight, which I think means he was level 71.

yea.. i killed him before.. and died doing it.
i was lvl 65 at the time, i barrage, sidewinder and all of a sudden... he Eagle Eye Shot.
i took 1103 dmg... max HP i had then was like... 1002 haha.
hes not tough, until he 2 hrs.

Woot. Camped him three times today with the 3rd finally dropping.
Took us almost 2 hours of waiting for the 3rd spawn (we left for a few hours in between, probably missed one), and when we finally got it we had lost our 75drk tank, and replaced with a poor 59 PLD.
Poor pld took a beating lol.
Anyway, got my bow 8k from 66. Time to level again.

Our exp party of level 60-62 killed this in a few minutes. We got two SC of him and by then he was dead. No big trouble with him except bomb tosses that was way faster than normal so I didn't have time to stun it.
No drop thou, too bad for our ranger >.<

i was camping emp in valk as 52 pld and i got tell from lv 75 whm asking me to tank him for their pt of whm/rng/me and basically i was like O.o why me but either way we started and i held hate fine he did about 80-120 dmg with 140-200 criticals with food+pro IV+defender but with the cure IV's from whm and the 150+ dmg from rng with gun we really werent in danger, either way killed him got 35 xp rofl and the bow in which we all passed for the rng ^^

lol the above statement is obvious but I mention it because in my party 58-60 we were: Whm, Rdm, Rng, Rng, Drk, Pld and we owned him. At one point near the end it was kind of close though because one of the rangers used Barrage + Sidewinder and took a big chunk of the gobbies HP so he was pissed. I couldn't get him to turn to me and the rng didn't get behind me for Cover -.-, so he gets down to like 140 HP and the whm uses divine seal and Cure III or IV o_O. So now Wyvernpoacher is beating on our taru mage, I make a split second decision and use Invincible and bam he turns to me and uses Eagle Eye Shot and hits me for 0 damage!
Definetly the most exciting battle (that ended succesfuly :P) I experienced in my FFXI run. He gave us 200 exp and he dropped around 1,500 gil for each, the crossbow of course, a gold beast coin, goblin armour and a few fire crystals. One of the ranger's already had the crossbow so we all passed except the other ranger.

While XPing in Gustav tunnel at 59, This little guy popped after clearing out some of the other goblins. Naturally we were a bit hesitant to fight it, but figuring the risk was worth the reward, and at worst our WHM can reraise and we'll go on our merry way.
The PT configuration was PLD/MNK/RNG/RNG/BRD/WHM
after taking 2 goblins for TP, we pull the Wyvernpoacher. It bears noting that we had blown a few 2hr abilities beforehand, so this could have gone a lot smoother if we saved them for this, but we were being silly and were aiming for Chain #6, which ended up with a few double pulls and a bit of Eagle Eye Shot action, which was a bit wasteful, but eh, we did get our Chain 6 ^^
Anyways back to Wyvernpoacher, after the pull and a Madrigal, Minuet, Prelude, we start an SC of Raging Fists >> Sidewinder >> Sidewinder, doing about 400+800+900, the goblin's attacks were about 80-90, with ranged attacks that occasionally hit 120. This is on a paladin with boiled crab.
This took it down a significant notch, and within the next 2-3 minutes it hit half life, and did the usual sand whirling storm thingy that signifies an incoming 2hr Ability, which was Eagle Eye Shot. This was luckily absorbed by Utsusemi from one of the rangers, who happened to have aggro after a Barrage. We almost lost'em, but the PLD hit Invincible and saved him at about 12hp, by that time the NM was almost dead, and we had a Benediction left in case of utter catastrophe, which didn't happen.
No bow drop unfortunately, just a few crystals, goblin armor, and a gold beastcoin. 1000gil for each of us, and a Chain #2 248XP. ^_^
In summary, doable by a single party, just be prepared.

We were xp'in in one of the side tunnels, when we came across this NM. Thnx to those that had posted already, because after quickly browsing thorugh the post we were ready to take this NM on. luckily my freind Darkrift was in the pt close by about the same lvl as us. so we made alliance, 2 pt's roughly lvl 56-58. Fight begins, our pld drops, luckily other pld was main tank. He hits hard, Darkrift being a taru was main whm as i was back up, he ran out of mp, tank did good job keeping hate, he was dead and i stil had half mp left. easy fight. No one died. there was only 1 rng in the 2 grps. i'm glad that everyone passed so the rng could have it. ^_^
Can anyone tell me the location of where he spawns?

Forgot to mention, he used Eagle Eye Shot on me, I think it was at around 50% life, but I had utsusemi up and it was just absorbed like a normal ranged attack.
Me (68 RNG) wanted to 'attempt' to solo WD tonight with Sleep arrows. I hit him with an Ice arrow and drug him to the Cape zone, and with about 5 other gobs on his tail. Once I zoned back into Gustav, I pulled him away carefull from the others and tried my first sleep arrow. Doesn't stick. I zone, and wanna try once more. Fire another one. Just hits him for 98 damage, no sleep effect. So knowing there's a level 59-60 party where he spawned, getting EXP, I didn't want them to have to deal with my failed attempt at killing him, so I keep dragging him back to the zone with arrows, and zoning into cape, coming back into Gustav, and repeating. I couldn't find any friends to help me tank him, so I ask a friend who's currently a Lv.63 Taru Rdm/Blm. He wants to try to take this NM down with just the two of us! I'm thinking he's crazy at first, but I really wanted the crossbow since the last time I fought him, I didn't get the drop. So he comes to Gustav and we get the ball rolling. I switched to Ice arrows and shadowbind him, and range him til it wears off, once it wore off Anttaru (My friend) would cast gravity and allow me to run away and recast Utsusemi. Anyway we did this for about 15-20 minutes, at around the 10 minute mark, the NM's health was half-way gone (He doesn't really have *that* many hitpoints), I got off my 2 hour, and a Barrage and Sidewinder, all which helped make the battle go a bit quicker. At one point I zoned, thinking we had to keep zoning and re-claiming him, but in hindsight, I now know this isn't necessary. Just keep dragging him through the long tunnel with Gravity and the occasional Shadowbind or Bind, and he's a piece of cake. Oh, and the crossbow didn't drop AGAIN. But the fact that we were able to take him so easily makes me feel like I accomplished something a bit more, so I'm happy. That's my story for the night, time for bed. :)

had a alliance of all 56 pt. took about 20 mins and eventually kilkled it with only 1 casualty dropped everything but the crossbow! that sucked!

Then he came within melee range and I drew aggro a few times but I was able to keep Utsusemi up enough not to get hit. He never used EES, which I'm guessing was a good thing. Bad part about the whole ordeal, though. We came all the way from a 3-4 hour B.Tree Party to fight him (A few friends told me he had been there for a couple hours). Got there, killed him. N o D r o p .

i just noticed i got 159 exp from that fight, that makes the mob 65-70 doesn't it? (pt range 63-64)
btw, the magic i cast was Thunder II ^^ not Blizzard. It hit for 112 damage.
for the others, this NM hits _hard_ when it comes into melee range... ranged wasn't so bad, my stoneskin + phalanx could take quite a few hits.

Just fought this guy and got the drop.^^
It's kinda a long story if you want to know the strategy and how we did it... But we ended up beating it as a PT of 3 people, a lvl 63 RNG(me), lvl 64 PLD(Nafoi), and a lvl 63 RDM(Nelaya). It took about 5-10 minutes total, but it was awesome :D. Couldn't believe we pulled it off with just three :)
To start off we attacked it and dragged him and all the other gobs around him that linked to the zone into Cape Terrigan. Once we got him there we were able to pick him off from the crowd, and fight him at the zone. There we all stood a good distance away while it did it's corny little ranged attacks (you want it to do this, it's dagger does much more damage much more often). From there, the PLD would constantly keep a low steady stream of hate while I tanked it from a distance with Utsesumi. Flash was used most often because of the free miss. Then the RDM's job at the time was just to Cure, and not use MP on anything else.
Once I got enough TP, Nelaya would cast Gravity and Dia II to debuff, and I would Slug Shot, Barrage, and Slug Shot again. By this time it had about 60% of it's life left and started to melee. When that happens I zoned in order to erase hate (since I can't Utsesumi tank it's fast dagger attacks), and then Nafoi tanks it from there. Mainly, rather than tanking, Nafoi kited it (which means running around trying to stay out of melee range). You never want to be in melee ranged of this thing, it hits really hard and fast with its dagger (hit me for 50-150 on Ranged Attacks, and 150-220 with its dagger). Then Nelaya would also try to keep Gravity stuck on it to make the kiting easier. Meanwhile, I would just get in a comfy spot and keep shooting it while Nafoi kited.
Later in the fight, when MP ran short I Shadowbound it and we all rested for a brief period of time, then when we ran short again Nel used Convert.
We just continued the process of kiting to avoid mass damage, zoning to erase hate (we all had to zone at least one time, since one person getting all the hate would usually lead to trouble), debuffing before Slug Shot, and resting when possible. After a good 5-10 minutes Nelaya finished it off with the only magic attack casted during the fight, Blizzard. Two of us had nere-full HP and one was yellow, then the Nel and Naf also had about 50% of their MP. It was a tough fight, but by how it ended it looked like we could've easily gone a little longer :D
It took is 3 tries before we got the strategy down good, and on failed attempts we would just zone and start over. Here is the Parser Stats from it, it tracked the total damage over the course of all the fights XD, so the total damage isn't its actual HP.

damn i want this bow so much for my rng...think a mnk 75/nin37 and whm75/37blm could take it down?also if blink happens to be on will its eagle eye miss?;D lol
Just killed this guy a few minutes ago. Our party was DRG / WHM / BLM / PLD / THF / RDM; Lv. 57-58. It wasn't too bad but all the mages were completely empty when the fight was over. He only threw 2 bombs and I managed to stun one of them. The Eagle Eye Shot hit our pally for 541 which we easily recovered from. Only 2hrs used were BLM and PLD. Dropped the whole lot of items including the bow... too bad we didn't have a RNG. :/
