Alkyoneus Special Attacks
Historical InformationIn Greek Mythology, Alkyoneus was a member of a race of giants known as the Gigantes, created from the blood spilled after the god Chronos castrated his father Uranus. While within the lands of Pallene, which was his homeland, he was immortal, which is why, during the great battle known as the Gigantomachy, he was forced across its borders and slain by Heracles. Alkyoneus is one of the royal Uranos, who are worshiped amongst the Gigas. Out of all the Uranos brothers, he is the largest and the toughest. The Gigas boast that not even god can kill him.

Does it Links with The giants Near him?
Question: Can one group of lvl 60s take this NM down with a sam, whm, rng, nin, thf, rdm. All of us with our two hours. My group was lvling up there the other day and he spawned, after a heated debate we decided to leave him alone, did we make the right choice? Or was the 3 million drop worth the chance.
Just so everyone knows, a 66 BST can solo him with the 4 bats there easily.
And as for his level, I got 280 from him at level 67, so that means he is at least 76, possibly more if my pet was out when I killed him, but I forget if it was.

You can solo this guy pretty easy as bst, but it takes quite awhile to get him down.
If you are leveling there and you see a nin or anon up there just waiting around, don't even bother to fight him though.
Twice now I've fought him for about 20-30 minutes and when he was down to about 10%-20% health, a guy named Koiti began to kill all my released pets leaving me nothing to do but attempt to drag him to the other spot where 2 bats spawn as he would also try to get him every time I swapped pets.
Though morally wrong, there is nothing a GM, or you, can do about it. And it is very frustrating to have a possible 5 million gil drop stolen from you after 20-30 minutes work.
So don't give them the pleasure of an easy pull off of you instead of having to grab him from the middle of all the other Jotunn in that room on the 12th floor. It's sad, but if you MPK them then you are the one that could get in trouble even though you were just righting a wrong.

Nothing gets me more upset than having a NM stolen from me (lvl 60 Bst) when I change pets by some jerk who wasn't quick enough to claim before me. Can anybody tell me why it is a part of the game that a mob goes unclaimed when you attempt a charm on a new pet? Does the game think you are attacking a new mob? The worst part of this is that a GM can't do anything about it. You just have to sit there and watch some /anon DRG named zooeajldk;j steal your claim (Falcatus Aranei in Korroloka Tunnel... anyone that leveled Bst there remembers it would take 10+ pets to kill this NM... and its prime gilseller country).

Hmmm, One of our BST friends has been MPK'd 3 times recently during Alky/Pallas fights in the last couple weeks. I guess the evil people just weren't out when you were up there Cole.
Man, me and my BST buddies on Kujata have had 4 NM stolen from us in 48 hrs. By stolen i mean, when we swap pets, or heel or something, name goes yellow, and people voke off us after we kill NM most of the way. lost Aquarius twice, Ose once, AND the worst , Lord of Onzozo once, stolen by creeps. I want to move to Seraph ; ;
His spawn is 21-24 hours, and its not a lottery, he will just spawn up usually in the centre beside the magic pots. We killed it rather easy as 75 blm/whm, 75 war/nin and 73 whm/blm, and got the drop on the first kill.
He uses mighty strikes as 2 hour, but with /nin can be easily blink tanked. I think a 75 nin could solo this NM, but he has an ability called Impact roar which nullifys shadows and does 100-300 dmg, however in the first fight i had with him he didnt use it.
We went up the next day and he popped about 23:30 hours after we killed him, but this time no drop. He is also Black, not like the Jotuns in the room which are blue.

I went back at the same time as I had gone the day b4 when he despawned except I went 1/2 earlier. I brought along my friend again and we killed him fairly easily. He only dropped a mahogony shield and giags socks unfortunately.
The following day I came back an hr later than my first attempt and to my surprise he was up. I was able to solo him, but still didnt get the drop.
My conclusion: He's on a 24 hour timer

Just today (11-1-04) I was exping in Delkfutt's and saw this guy. I tell my friend to come asap so we could duo him (66 & 65 BSTs). My friend comes, we get prepped, go to pull him, and he's nowhere to be seen. We check the entire floor and the floor below just to make sure but he's not there and he's not, which made me really mad. Turns out he can despawn which leads me to believe he's on a timer and not lottery popped.
Either way, I'll be sticking around s'more to check on him.

A mnk friend of mine in my ls as well as other members of our ls have been camping this thing for the past few days to get his rare *** drop for the mnk.
Just to clear up a few points:
1. That is not Alkyoneus in the screenshot. Alkyoneus looks like Pallas and the NM that drops the Delkfut key (name escapes me at the moment). He is black with white tattoos on his body.
2. Alkyoneus does not have a weapon. He fights h2h but he has warrior Mighty Strikes 2hr ability.
3. A lot of sites cite this guy as a 2hr lottery of the Jotun gigases on second top floor of upper delkfutt's. This is incorrect. He is on a 21-24 hour timer like Bune, Simurgh, Roc, etc.
Finally, here is a screenshot that clearly shows he is quite different from the Jotun mobs.

Also, the Gigas's in upper delkfut all yield big weapons too. Go explore and see for yourself

That is not the pic of him, must be fixed up. was just up there today and he was holding no axe, maybe he lost it LOL, and he does have alot of tatoos that are not seen here

well... i know that Mimas a gigas NM in Upper Delkfutts Tower looks like the other gigas mobs... BUT, he is wielding a Great Axe... so i imagine that this NM is a lookalike, but has the greataxe... which seperates him from the rest ^^
He's right. Behind him are two other giants of the same color.
Which makes me wonder what color is this guy. ..

If you look behind "Alkyoneus", there are 2 other Gigas that look the EXACT same as the NM. That... doesn't happen with Gigas NMs. They are black with crazy white tattoos and all that.

probably Alkyoneus is that color and probably the mobs behind it are Jotunn (sp?) that are black too

just killed it with 2 bst lv 65 and 67

Does anybody know the spawn time on this guy? Is it purely lottery (on which of the Giggas) or is it timed lottery like 21-24 then lottery?

Just killed it today 12 people around 59-62, no drop ;;;;;
That is not the NM, that picture is doctored. He is a decent amount bigger than that and unbelievably ugly.
Exactly what evidence do you have to offer that the picture is doctored? Looks legit from here, and from the original. Note that a good number of the rarer NM pics are taken from the eternalforce NM pages. Here's the original, if you feel like pointing out your case for how this is a doctored pic:

I believe the primary piece of evidence is the fact that most people say he is, in fact, black in color, while this picture shows him white.
it's not that he's black, it's that he's a darker grey than that and COVERED in tatoos... You can't miss the tatoos on ANY gigas NM, and, well, that one doesn't have em. If you would like to give me some place to post an actual picture of him I'd be happy to.

I think they changed his color with a patch, because I'm up here looking at him right now, and he's black with white stripes like Porphyrion.

Soloable by a Beastmaster capable of leveling on the 12th floor (meaning level 66 and above). It gets dicey at times, but it's doable. You have to juggle between two Dire bats and an incubus bat in order to allow them all to heal enough so you can uncharm/let them heal/recharm.
The entire battle takes about 15-20 minutes, and about 2 dozen charms. Kill the Magic Pots before you begin, that way (until they respawn at least) you'll have an easier time recasting Blink/Stoneskin after each charm w/o having to worry about aggro.
Killed it twice so far, no drop
Also, for the record, that picture is either doctored, or has HORRIBLE color. Alkyoneus is Black and covered in Tatoos much like all the Gigas NM's, what we're looking at here is a normal 12th floor gigas.
Regarding it's level, killing it at level 68 WITH a pet still gave me 200xp. Considering I still got 200xp with a pet, this means that at the bare minimum it was worth over 290xp to me, meaning it was AT LEAST 6 levels above me. So at the very least it's level 74, with the actual level probably leaning closer to 77.

i'd say somewhere close to 75. i solo'd him as NIN/WAR (no drop, of course), and he gave me 100 limit points. with regen drinks and capped eva + maxed merits, he was a chump. just wish his drop rate was better :\
