They should pop up around 18:00 and go away around 4:00 or 6:00 when the sun comes up.

Only ding bats drop the mail scales, the mouse bats do not. At least, I havent seen them do it. They drop them fairly often, which is annoying if youve done the quest and dont need them anymore...
How do you get scale mail off the ding bats? I've fought many ding bats and they have never dropped scale mail before

These things are for n00b fighters, but if you get a stack of 12 batwings they sell ok for n00bs in AH.

don't even bother to post anything like that again. plus, a stack of 12 bat wings can get you 1200 gil and fame in san D'oria, so don't sell em, save em.

Ding Bats in King Ranperre's Tomb can drop Orcish Armor Scale for the second San d'Oria mission.
What is the rate of drops for the Orcish Mail Scales?
Do those sell for a lot?
