Solo'd this today, 75RDM/37NIN... Not that hard if you remember to keep Slow II and Paralyze II on it, and use Stoneskin religiously. The problem is that it is a long fight and most people get impatient. Dia III was extremely helpful. If Stoneskin and Shadows wore and I was unable to get them back up, I used Bind and moved away.

EDIT:
Just solo'd it on NIN75/DNC35... As long as you keep Hojo and Jubaku on it, and use a Stun Kukuri, you're good. I'd also suggest using Demon Arrows. I used an Accuracy/Strength setup and two Super Potions.

It speeds up its use of Sprout Spin at end of life. Very high evasion. Absorb-TP didn't do much. Maxed Dark magic at lvl 70.

After failing twice, as NIN/RDM and NIN/WAR with capped evasion merits, I can safely say this NM is not soloable with a straight-up fight. It very rarely misses, even at night with maxed evasion and evasion gear, and sooner or later the Utsusemi timers caught up with me. Duoing should be relatively simple though, I got the sprout down to 30% and 40% respectively on my own.

Therefore, I believe RDM DoT-kiting to be the only efficient way of soloing this NM.

This being my 5th WSNM and just having finished Steel Cyclone, i went this time with my Bro's elv NIN75/DRk and myself, mithra RDM75/whm.

The sprout spin move can be blinked with utsusemi, so can his sprout smack. All in all a rather fun fight and not too long either. If u remember to bring poison pots to counteract the AOE sleep, the usual yclasses should be able to solo him (nin, thf, rdm, smn, maybe bst etc). Any combination of a support class/mage and a decent blinker should have little to no problem.

This fight is pretty easy except for Sprout Spin from Yallery.

My setup was NIN75/WAR, PLD75/WAR, BST72/WHM (me), and SAM73/THF.

The NIN tank was doing pretty good at keeping shadows up all the time even without haste. Yallery has pretty slow attacks. The PLD had about 540DEF with buffs and food and took about 100 damage a hit. The NIN took 200-250 a hit when shadows ran out. At least tank and healer should have poison pots or be out of range.

We did great all the way until Yallery used Sprout Smack. Sprout Spin did 300-500 to everyone but the PLD who it did 100 to. 2 of those wiped all but PLD who was able to take off the tiny bit of life Yallery had left. I reraised and got my key item.

Sprout Spin hurts, be ready to heal people from it.

I killed this guy today as rdm/nin. My rdm is crappy, I don't really have much good gear for it or use it much so someone with more rdm experience could do it easier, but I solo'd it in about 45 minutes using bind/poison/bio kite. Pulled it up to entrance and just DoT'd it to death. It starts to build up a resistance to gravity, but not bind as far as I can tell. Not too hard a fight, didn't use TP once the whole fight.
Piece of Cake.

Did this last week with a 75Nin/75Drk/73Rng/an me 62Whm.Before we started I did a few test cures so I could set my distance from the Battle. I found my spot cast my buffs on me an pt. drank a yagudo drink then a poison drink, just in case I was hit with the AOE sleeep.
The battle began I was so far back I was untouched. All I had to do was cast cures an haste.About 5 min. or so it was over, like I said Piece of cake.
Easy fight

This is NOT a hard fight if you come prepard.

The jobs that came for my fight were:
War/Nin <me>
Pld/Nin
Pld/War
Whm/Blm x2
Blm/Whm x2
Mnk/War
Drg/Whm
I had another Blm/Whm come too, but they fell asleep at the zone ^^;

The area has a bee that spawns. If your properly stacked this mob should not be a problem, kill it for tp, and it won't respawn until the recovery after the fight.

If your planning to fight this mob it is IMPERITIVE that you bring a poison potion for EVERYONE. This things only defense is its AoE sleep which is countered by the poison.

Buff up, down the poison potions, and have the person needing the ws touch the ???. Yallery hits for a decent amount. Our main pld at lvl 75 with adamen armor was getting hit for 120-290. It also has another nasty AoE that the regular saplings have too, the around the world pom-pom AoE. This AoE caught me with my pants down <had berserk up> and killed me in two of them. SHADOWS DO NOT BLOCK THIS! He only started using it when he hit 1/4 hp, but you can probably expect it to start using it at about 1/2 because we dropped this mob pretty fast. This move also has knockback.

I hope this helps. Good luck all who are going for it. And cheers to everyone that helped me.

Edit: Rate up if this helps!

Did this fight with 75NIN and 75BRD. Once debuffs stuck (elegy and hojo) NIN had enough time to recast shadows and not get hit.

No special songs, just ballad. Fight ended with 128xp and both full hp.
16 is plenty

I fought this yesterday with 16 people, the fight wasn't too hard, we were able to kill it before the enemies in the room repopped. The most annoying part of the fight by far is the constant AoE sleep. Within a few seconds of waking up, I was often asleep again. While the fight wasn't too difficult even without them, having at least one person per party with curaga using poison potions would help quite a bit and make this fight very smooth.

It was tough all in orange after fight but me i was in white =) pretty fun congratulations Rikkana on your new Weapon skill!

This NM was pretty hard.. We had almost a two pt alliance and it still was hard.. The warriors were both 72 and everyone else was 63+ besides me.. I'm 61 blm.. I couldn't do any damage with my spells on it so I just back up healed.. I say the more people you have the better the fight will be and having two people able to tank is a good idea because it hits hard.. hit the warriors for over 200 each time it hit them ^^ hope this is useful to anyone going for it

You're telling me... I was the whm in the 2pt alliance and with 770 MP with the usage of my 3hr food (recently hitting lv63 WHM), I was only able to do so much. I ended up using my 2hr at the end. Still, no deaths. Thank god... lol, de-level <No thanks.>

Axe The Competition - Axe Weaponskill

You must have a Axe skill of at least 240 and be at least level 71 to begin this quest. If you're ready to accept the mission, head to Upper Jeuno and speak with Brutus.

He will hand you a key item as well as a axe, the Pick of Trials. He asks you to test a new axe for the Teshondo untill the axe is dull, which roughly means you need to remove the latent effect off of it by participating in skillchains and performing weapon skills. The number of SCs and WSs you need to do before the axe is sufficiently blunt goes by a strict point-based system:

Solo-WS: 1 pt.

Start LVL1 SC: 1 pt.
Close LVL1 SC: 2 pt.

Start LVL2 SC: 2 pt.
Close LVL2 SC: 3 pt.

Start LVL3 SC: 3 pt.
Close LVL3 SC: 5 pt.

---------------------
Total Needed: 300 pt.
---------------------

Participate in SCs until you've accumulated enough points for the latent effects on the Pick of Trials to dissappear. (Note: the text on the item description will remain, but the effects will expire)

After the latent effects are off of the Pick of Trials, return to Brutus and trade him the axe. He will hand you yet another key item (Map to the Annals of Truth) and tell you to proceed to the Temple of Uggalepih.

Head to the J-9 entrace from Yhoator Jungle and touch the ??? at G-9. An NM Sapling named Yallery Brown will appear. Defeat him. Once Yallery Brown is dead, check the ??? again to receive yet another key item (Annals of Truth).

Now head back to Upper Jeuno and speak w/ Brutus again. After a short cutscene, you will receive your long-awaited prize: Decimation!

The best way to fight this NM is to clear the area first, and pull it to the stairs near the zone. I can not stress this enough. Me as a 71 War, a Rdm75/Nin and a Rdm74/Whm trio it. First try we fought it at the spawn point. Bad idea. After a while 2 bees respawned, a hover tank aggoed the Rdm/Whm things went bad from there. 2nd try we pull it to zone and the battle went smoothly. The Rdm/Nin tanked it, cause Yallery Brown hits really hard (more than exp mobs).

Why not just have everyone in your party take poison potion while fighting?

aoe sleep, no problem.

little walkthrough first
War/Drk/Bst/Rng can get the weaponskill Decimation
need to be at least level 71 and have Axe skill of 240+
talk to Brutus in the Chocobo Stables in Upper Jueno
he gives you the Pick of Trials and a Weapon Training Guide
now you need to go what many ppl call "cleaning the blade"
You need to accumalate 300 points
this is done by performing weapon skills on mobs that are Easy Prey or greater to you
Solo WS gives you 1 pt
Closing a Level 1 Skillchain gives you 2 points
Closing a Level 2 Skillchain gives you 3 points
Closing a Level 3 Skillchain gives you 5 points
If you open the skillchain, regardless of what level, you only get 1 point
you will know when you have reached 300 pts when the latent effects of the axe are gone
the latent effects give +hp and some elemental resistances
go back to Brutus and trade him the axe
he will then tell you to kill a monster in the Temple og Uggalepih
if you didnt get enough points, brutus will tell you you need to use the axe more
go to yhoatar Jungle and zone into the Temple at J-11
In the temple, go to J-7 and go through the granite door
head north to K-3 and exit to yhoator Jungle
go right around the corner to K-9 and zone back into the Temple
head south to G-9 and the ??? will be at the dead end
you will have to clear the area of Tonberries and Temple Bees and Hover Tanks
When everyone is ready click on the ???

my pt was 72War/nin(me), another 72War/nin, 71Pld, 68Brd, 64Drk and 70Rdm

The other war did it the previous night and said they had trouble with a alliance of 12
we shrugged it and went for it anyways, seeing as how its close to the zone

decided to let the Pld tank it straight up
does hit slow but hits hard as well
seeing as how this might be a MP sink, i did a little tanking as well
going fine til its hits about 50% hp left
this is when things start getting out of hand
it starts to spam its Slumber Powder attack
everytime it did this, it would go directly for the Rdm, almost killing her
then me or the pld would get hate back, sleep, go after rdm
this went on for quite a bit
Pld used invincible to gain hate
Invincible wears off, Nm almost dead, mages out of MP
almost kills the pld, got him down to 45 hp
so i then let loose with all my job abilities
Aggressor + Berserk + Warcry + provoke + mighty Strikes
was finally able to get hate after mighty strikes
then im almost dying, other lets loose with Rampage, NM dead
whew
everyone was in the red or yellow at the end of the fight
examine the ??? again to get the key item: Annals of Truth
go back and talk to Brutus
you have now learned Decimation! ^^

beat it with 5

Couldnt find any info on it anywhere really, so me and 4 others just decided to give it a try, its at G-9 in the temple, you need to enter in the south part of the jungle to get there though. We had a blm/whm, brd/whm, drk/thf, whm/blm, and (me)war/nin(all level 71), on a side note we all are very well equiped, and know how to play together well, and that helped alot.

But anyways i tanked it, it wasnt too bad, bard haste song and haste from whm made it pretty easy to keep shadows up, it doesnt attack too fast, but hits pretty damn hard. Started the fight with 200+ tp and did mistral axe > spinning slash, did fairly good dmg, but didnt move the HP bar too much and got me a bit worried, lol. But just kept hacking away at it, did a total of 3 chains if im not mistaken. Didnt AoE sleep us, so i think we got lucky there, but the AoE attack did hurt alot, but besides this he isnt too bad. We went in with the intention of 2 houring it, but we didnt use any at all, so it isnt a harsh fight either, gave 160 or so exp, lol. Basically if ya got a group your have some confidence go for it, i think it can be done, but i dont know how well a pld will tank this, but a ninja would have no problem with it.

Hope this helps people looking for more info on it

This guy is rough, 1 full party of 70's is not enough. We failed twice. It took us 9 people and 1 death to take this guy.

He has a killer AE and AE sleeps so keep your mages OOR.
