SAM/DNC Solo
# Apr 01 2009 at 10:15 AM Rating: Decent
Just solo'd this guy as SAM/DNC. :D

I wore my usual stuff, don't feel like listing all of it but I'll leave it at "TP Setup" and a pair of Ice Trousers (swapped after use) and 4 Hi-Pot's. I meditated twice before going in and let it reset, opened with a Fragmentation SC, Drain Samba II and wacked away. Used Curing Waltz II whenever I dropped into yellow and applied some Step's, though I never needed the Finishing Moves like I thought I would.

When Sekkenokai was ready again I popped another Fragmentation SC. I used my 2hr at some point but screwed up the SC's and ended up doing Detonation then I followed with Fusion. From there he really started hitting hard and I needed to use a few Pot's alongside the Waltz to stay in it. I went as low as 25HP but survived long enough for Sekkenokai to come back up. I used it, ready for another Fusion but he died at Gekko.

The trousers helped a lot to keep him Paralyzed. I kept Seigan + Third Eye up at all times even though he kept using Dispelga and only erasing the Third Eye >_>. Not too hard. GL.

Just duoed it as THF75 and BLM75, no issues really.

His deadly hold missed me (eva setup wins :P) and i hit red once, but that was from a fluke crit + heat breath. Shadowstiched him, put images back up and was cured to full before he unbound.

Used deadly hold once, but got greater whirlwind a few times. I noticed he enjoyed spamming Dispelga and Silencga, so yes, bring echos, and be ready to have shadows wiped often.
easy

Just did this mob with a 75DRK/37NIN & 75 PLD/30 NIN (lol)and me 53SMN/26WHM

Took us 7 minutes to kill the ugly thing.

The mob does a move I think called Deadly Hold which is complete rapega. It hit the Paladin for 831 damage and she was at 25 HP.

Since she had no Provoke it became harder to hold hate from the DRK about half way in. At about half way the DRK used every one of his hate-spamming /ja and then hit the dude with a 700 Spinning Slash and the PLD had to use Invincible in vain. DRK still had hate so she covered him cus he was starting to get raped XD

Be careful of Deadly Hold and mages must stay far back from his Max-MP Reducing Ability. He used that ability at around 30% life with my PT.

Wasn't super smooth with this set up but we could have gone much longer...but would rather not since Deadly Hold would rape when it went off lol

GL to those going for SMN AF I hope this helped :)

Tanked this guy as a 63 SAM a while back

our setup was 63SAM/WAR 75WHM/BLM 60BRD/WHM 40MNK/WAR and 70SMN/WHM

Plan was to go in, and make a very long skillchain to get him down fast, using Meikyo Shisui, BP and hexa strike, however that failed pretty swiftly since i got lagged during the first part of the skillchain, so we just mellee'd him, and SMN astral flowed. Fight lasted about 4-5 minuttes.

Anyway, down to the tanking. SAM using seigan has the advantage of not being affected by silence, since you dont need magic to stay alive, unlike PLD or NIN.

His TP moves hit me for 1-300; except one which did 500, but his accuracy was terrible. Most of the time Third Eye would wear off, and i only got hit once with seigan active. I had a WHM debuf though, which probably helped a lot...

Anyway, SAM tank. Consider it ^^/

I fought this today with a party of 75 PLD, 60 SMN, 68 SAM and me, 75 RDM. This thing used an MP down move that left me with 14 MP. Very bad.
We won, but everyone was in the red. I was counted on to main heal, not easy with 14 mp, hehe.

Logged on the other day to a friend shouting for AF3 help in Jeuno. Seeing as how feckign forever and a day ago I told him that I would help with his AF3 that "noone would ever help with," I switched to PLD and joined the group. We only went with four people, 'cause he was too impatient to wait --

PT Set-up was:

73PLD
60SMN
65MNK
66THF

The fight wasn't as bad as I remember it being (I was the wee li'l 58 PLD Evenstrife is talking about a couple posts below [insert tear here]) but true to said post he did spam Silencega, didn't bother with Dispelga, tho. The MNK ended up dying from his own WS + THF SATA and just walking out from behind Cover to get nailed with Deadly Hold O.o It fell shortly after, tho. Got 9 exp from it.

Somehow we broke the record with an 8min22sec run, lofl. Congratulations Kaji =P

Edited because I can't spell.

Some friends and I took this guy out not too long ago. Our party set-up was this.

RDM74
DRG71
WHM62
PLD58
BLM61
SMN63(Me)

It would be a good idea to being some Echo Drops for the mages. This guy likes to spam nasty AoE's like Dispelga and Silencega. I'd reccomend a back up tank as well. His ability "Deadly Hold" can be either really weak, or really deadly. For us, it was mostly really deadly ; ;. It took our DRG out for 1000+ damage. RDM did a fantastic job tanking for the rest of the fight. Kept hate from both "Invincible" and "Benediction" O.o;.

Overall, it's a pretty simple fight. Just be prepared for those AoE's and keep your tank(s) alive.

Good luck! ^^
