Got a vid of me on a chobo and this thing is pulling away nice and fast also got a few good pic of him too. really cool to try and race keep loosing him lol
So me and a few linkshell buddies, along with a roleplaying partner of mine, we were all in east Altepa working on my DRG's AF weapon. Suddenly, I see a cactuar run by, kicking up loads of sand as he went. Role-play buddy cried, "Rapido! He touched me!" Normally I don't use chatspeak, but I was ROTFL. He had to have passed us by about three to five times...while we were arguing about who had better armor, reminding the PLD to be careful because -name censored- gets hate on himself easily...et cetera...we fought a few sabotenders that day. Luckily, no link from Rapido. ^^
Chased this bad boy around the desert last night for a good 30 mins. Had a 61 PLD, 61 RNG, and a 61 WHM. We finally nabbed it by forcing it to link with another Cactaur.
This thing absolutely messed us up. Was hitting the PLD for 250-300 dmg per hit. It smashed us, but it was fun as hell chasing it!
Hmm...this seems like a long shot, but what if you get a party of rangers and shoot the NM every time it runs by the group. Unlike a spell, the shot would do damage even if the enemy is very far away as long as the ranged attack is started when the NM is close by you.
I've only been to the desert a hand full of times, mainly to take others in my LS to get maps. I don't think anything, even in the movies moves that fast. I saw a random thing buzz by me, and didn't pay it any mind. But if it doesn't aggro even if you hit it, then that's just plum funny. Makes me curious to see if you can keep up with it on a chocobo, or with flee...I'm gonna try chasing it on chocob with /RNG subbed for widescan. I'll report back if I notice a pattern to it's movement. Well, ladies and gentlemen, start your engines...time for ludacris speed! GO!
my bro and i were there in a bst duo and he kept flying by us all day long so eventually we figured "what the hell, let's see what it's got" as bsts 10,000 needles isn't scary, just grab a new pet and send it in, we figured maybe we could run around the desert for a few hours throwing sabotendors at him until he died, we didn't know what level it was and weren't worried about dying, we just wanted to know how strong it really was. i tried charm on it and it didn't even bind it, charm binds all uncharmable mobs but it didn't work on him, he turned red(claimed) and just kept running like nothing happened, the next time i cut him off i casted dia on it, same thing, he just kept running.
after reading other peoples posts here who actually got it to attack them, i'm guessing the only way to get it to stop is to take an alliance, have one party fight a sabotendor in an area he passes through(he seems to have a set path, i locked him on widescan and tracked his movements) and have him link with it when he passes through.
You can hardly say this mob is at G-7, considering it runs all over the damn place so quickly.
Wether it spawns there or not, it's completely useless info, considering as soon as it spawns it'd run off in a matter of seconds.
This mob seems like he does the whole "Hit'n'Run" thing, he links with Cactuar, then whacks you, causing serious damage, then runs...sorta like a badly organized parking lot...
however if you drain and ther's anotehr cactaru around, the normal one will link with the nm, and the nm will link back on to the normal one and come and kill you... took down a lv 70 mnk in 3 hits.
[You misunderstand, you can't attack it quick enough. If you could, then it would attack you, however, I have see this thing run, and by the time you know it's there it is already out of range]
I managed to hit him with poison and provoke on two different occasions and he doesn't respond to either. He simply ignored me =/
me and a friend were going for the eastern altepa gate crystal, so the whm i was with lost their sneak and got aggrod by a cactuar O_O, i figured if we killed it fast we could avoid 1k needles, then this guy ran by and hit us for 600+dmg each, and since we were already in a battle, we died instantly lol...not funnn
Me and my friend were exploring Altepa last Winter, he was on the other side of the map when he says : "wtf, this cactus thing just ran by me". I didn't even have time to read what he typed when this little ******* was next to me.
I was a lvl 30whm/15 blm, i wanted to blood port so i casted dia on this SOB, he turned around, ran tword me, and then took off again. Liitle son of a (you know what) dident kill me.
imagine if this guy aggros... he would run around the desert very fast and shoot 10,000 needles at anyone in his path then keep on running. kinda like a drive-by... that would be hilarious. ^^;
ran into this little guy while wandering altepa and i managed to shoot him! ............too bad he doesn't stop *sigh* but my lv. 33 butt would've died heh o well...was fun playing tag with him :D
This thing is the funniest thing ever....ran by me about 5 times in 10 minutes...couldn't even fully catch its name....Saw it in G-7 if that helps anyone
me and my freind were standing there waiting fora heat spell for smn quest, well in the 2 or so hours of standing there we saw him run by at least 8 time, whata random ******* he is

This has got to be one of the coolest mobs in the game, i saw him tearing around once in altepa, i didnt even have time to toss a spell at him, just a cloud of dust in his wake =)
I just saw this little b*stard while I was partying in Altepa. Initially, I thought it was a Thief Taru in AF using Flee. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was a Mob (I naturally assumed it was a NM due to it's strange name and quick speed). Seeing as I'm only lvl34 and a Cactuar can kill me in just a few hits, I nearly died when this mo'fo ran right beside me. Glad that it doesn't aggro ^ ^;; Anywho, after I recovered from my near heart attack, I managed to get this screen on it:
I know one's already been posted, but you get a better view overall with mine.
