Any Thief been in here?

Hello,
thinking of trying the Cloudy Orb (20 seals) Burning Circle with some friends, probably the Ghelsba one where you battle 3 bats. So, here's the question/discussion. From what I've read most of the succesful parties (only party of 3) use either a Beastmaster to charm the two lesser bats to get them to fight eachother OR using some combination of sleep spells... What i'm wondering is, any thieves been in this BC battle yet, and if so, anyone use Sleep Bolts with our nice new X-Bow skills? I'm thinking maybe I can keep 1 or more bats asleep with that while we focus on 1 bat at a time. Possible party is, THF/MNK, MNK/RDM, WHM/BLM (all capped at 20/10 of course). Thoughts... ideas... experience with this...

Are ColoColo and the furie all sound agro? Meaning, could our group stand perfectly still when we arrived and get all necessary buffs in without them noticing us?

Once you enter the battlefield, you're far enough away so they won't aggro. Buff away!

Ok, we just set the Bismark record on this fight. Final time 2 minutes and 12 seconds. Jobs were Mnk/War, Sam/War, Rng/Nin. Mnk held colo, me and the Rng each took a fury. We started off by using 2hr's dropped a furie and Colo then dropped the other furie. No problem. Obtained, Platoon Lance, Thunder Spirit Pact, Translucent Rock, and eh...bat fang...
Oh well, they can't all be winners.

The easiest way to beat the Furies and Colo Colo is to take a Rng/Nin, Bst/War, and a Whm/???. All you need to do is have the BST charm the furies to attack each other and then hit the Colo colo as fast as possible. Me (Rng/Nin) and my friends fought this battle 5 times yesterday and won 4 times. (Just make sure you don't kill the Furie that is not charmed before the charmed Furie dies otherwise you will run out of time and lose... We made about 60000 each from fighting this 4 times. We got the thunder spirit pact, several mithril beast coins, several colored rocks, a Ganko, and a Platoon sword...
I LOVE THIS

me a pld/war, a bst/whm, and a blm/whm owned this. bst charmes the furies to attack the other while i use a steamed crab and destroy colo-colo. the blm nukes a bit and i just hold the aggro. I had 153 def at the time. we did it a few times got thunder pacts twice. I was so happy about that.
Really not that bad

This one is so easy with a BST/WHM. We also had a RNG/NIN and a WHM/BLM (me) but basically the BST just charms the furies to attack eachother and the WHM heals the RNG as it solos the colo. We just sat around, talked and healed while the furies ripped eachother apart. You don't even need any food, I used some but there wasn't any reason to. As soon as one furies dies, the RNG and BST made quick work of the what was left of the other one. I believe we were the first to do this on Lakshmi, we did pulled it off the morning of the patch.

Me and 3 ls friends set the record on Kujata for this at 4 minutes 38 seconds; this is how. It was a BST/WAR (me, Starry), BLM/WHM (Kemikal), RNG/RDM (Aleksandr). The RNG and myself the BST built up 300%tp. Then BLM casted protectra, shell, barpoisona, and aquaveil before entering. I ate a fish mithkabob and they went in as is. The RNG shot Colo-Colo and got his attention while I set one Furie on the other. I provoked Colo and did Raging Axe, RNG followed with Flaming Arrow to create Liquefication. Then RNG used Eagle Eye Shot; Colo dead. The Furies were half dead an charm came undone. I tried recharming but failed so I took one, RNG took the other. I used Raging Axe to kill one then provoked the Furie on the RNG, BCNM done. The RDM sub gave cure help while BLM/WHM could nuke, mb, heal, depending on situation. This was our second BCNM 20 win and no Thunder Pact yet, but we were all happy to walk away with record an bragging rights. ^_^ San d'Oria Forever!!

I tried building up my TP to 300 before entering, but it's pointless since your Tp is reset as soon as you enter the battlefield as well as any magic buffs:) (The Rdm I fight this with tried casting higher lvl protect and shell buffs on us before entering and they were also removed)

I went at this with two of my LS members last night. We got owned. Twice. The first time, it was 20WHM/10BLM (me), 39BLM/6SMN, and 40RDM/18WAR. Obviously they got level-downed to 20. The RDM wasn't expecting this, so he spawned into the arena nekkid. He didn't realize he had no equipment untill after he hit Colo-Colo. The three mobs hit him once, he dies. The see a WHM, take her out pretty quickly too. The BLM didn't make it in before the RDM attacked the bats, so he didn't get in at all. Horrible failure.

The second time, it was me, the RDM, and a 30WHM/15SMN. The RDM aquired some level-appropriate equipment this time. The idea was that w/ two WHMs, the RDM and pet could tank the three mobs. Negative. The SMN didn't even get a chance to summon something before we were in trouble. I started off as main healer, she was debuffing, then the three bats hit the RDM and he's down to about 50 HP. Both of us start spamming Cure II, we get the hate. The RDM voke Colo back while I'm trying to cancel the poison. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Colo uses poisonaga. About every 20 seconds. The two of us couldn't keep up with all of this damage and poison, and the RDM couldn't manage all of that hate. We survived for about 20 minutes, half killed one of the Furries, but we all died, even with 2 Benedictions. A mage party is not the way to go.

I think that if the BLM raises his summoner, then we get him, the WHM/SMN, and a PLD/WAR we could do it.

I did this with two other members of my LS and it went off pretty well...the second time.

One key is to build up 300 tp before you enter. Appologize to them poor little PCs outside trying to exp, then slaughter everything you can out there. Including your whm with a club. It pays off.

We did this with a PLD/WAR, DRG/WAR and a WHM/BRD.

First thing, very important, PLD provokes colo-colo and the other warrior sub provokes one of the furies.

We started off by weapon skilling one of the furies. No skillchain, just straight double thrust, fast blade and my wyvern's breath attack. One bat dead pretty much right away.

Then we started in on the second furies. This is the most frustrating fight because your TP hasn't built up again yet and it just won't die. However, we got through it all alive.

Then you turn your attention to Colo-colo. At this point, your white mage joins the fray. Shining strike Colo-colo, then use whatever other TP you have built up. It took a while, and I died provoking Colo-colo off our whm, but in the end our whm finished the thing off with a second shining strike.

We got a thunder spirit pact, platoon axe, platoon edge and a bunch of gil. No platoon lance as I wanted (was level 20 drg at the time) but ahh well. still got 50k each out of the deal when everything sold.

If I went as ranger instead of dragoon, none of us would have died...so yes. The person who sand RNG, PLD, WHM is the ideal party for this...I agree completely.
Pefect group?
# May 28 2004 at 2:53 PM Rating: Decent
My perfect group consisted of;

BST/BLM? WHM/BLM WAR/???, I can't remember what we subbed. BST set the Furies on each other, we wasted Colo, and then cleared the Furies out. I as the WHM mostly just healed our WAR, and bashed Colo. I used an orange juice, and an apple pie. We buffed up first. I ended up using benediction when I ran out of mp, but the fight was over really fast after that. No other 2 hours were used. I think if I had brought an MP restore type of drink, I wouldn't have needed the bene. I only got up to 50% TP, and the war got 1 SC type attack in we had not padded TP to start. I gave our war a Cheifkabob. It was a low cost endevor.

We got the platoon axe, the edge, fang, and some bat wings. No scroll.

beat it...too easy
# May 13 2004 at 10:16 AM Rating: Decent
I beat it 8 times so far with a pretty odd team. RDM/NIN MNK/WAR and NIN/RDM...like i said...odd

RDM is main healer (of course) and just concentrates on healing the MNK. NIN/RDM should backup heal the MNK and/or RDM when the RDM gets hit. RDM should bring 1 pie, 2-3 yagudo drinks, 1-2 pear au lait (anything more is overkill), 2-3 antidotes (for Poisonga when you need to rest...and you will need to) and 2-3 hi-potions. MNK should bring 5-7 hi-potions, 4 pear au laits and 1-2 fish kabobs. NIN should bring the same as the RDM. Make sure you are well equipped...i am the RDM of the group and i use a Decurion's Dagger and a Small Sword (dagger first for Gust Slash). Also, get your TP to 300% before entering...you can pretty much take out a furies with a well planned skillchain. RDM SHOULD NOT use black magic unless the Colo-Colo is left and you pretty much see victory ahead. This party beats it flawlessly without the need for 2 hr abilities. Like i said...i have won 8 times so far and got 3 thunder spirit pacts and 2 platoon lances among other things.
First time sucess - Our strategy for the Colo-colo
# May 13 2004 at 4:10 AM Rating: Decent
Just beat this guy first try and he drops the Tunder Spririt Pact, platoon edge, mythril beastcoin, and a bat fang!! /joy We had a WHM/BLM BLM/RDM and WAR/MNK. War went in with 300% tp and did a total of 4 damage :( initally the BLM used elemental seal to sleep the colo-colo. both mages used apple pies before. WHM used yagudo drink then a pineapple juice when that wore off as well as one Hi-potion and 2 hi-ethers (50mp each). the blm used 2 hi-ethers and 2 or 3 hi-potions. war used a meat mithkabob and his 2hr right away. After the colo-colo woke up we were in bad shape but just stuck to the one furrier we started to attack initially and just let the other 2 have their way with us until the first furrier died. This was a bad idea because we were extremely weak. War went though 5 hi-potions because of this. colo-colo was the last we dealt with and once it was down to just him we were pretty relaxed, although all completely out of MP. WHM healed enough for one cycle then used benediction at the very end (although unecessary).

The key to our first try sucess (none of us has ever faught a BCNM before) was hi-potions, hi-ethers, and the drinks. Although we went through 15,000-20,000 (for those of you who arent lv 68 alchemists like me) worth of food/drinks/etc... it payed off in the end. The next time we do this i think we will be able to get by with using a lot less than we did. Although i can synth the medicines for fairly cheap, someone just buying them will spend lots of money. If you do try it for the first time, make sure you go in prepared. If you dont use all the potions/ethers/drinks, you can always sell them back to the AH
I know the way

So, you really wanna know the best way to take these fu??ers out huh? I've done it and so can you....
CREW: BLM/RDM DRK/WAR SAM/WAR
PLAN: BLM is the key to success, at the start of the fight elemental seal and Sleep Colo-Colo, at the same time, the 2 melee tag team on of the cronies and skillchains right when their tp is rdy and BLM MB's & heals. At around the time the first side bat dies Colo wakes and BLM sleeps again. Same as before, skillchain MB and BLM heals. Finally when Colo is alone voker vokes him BLM uses bind & Manafont and nukes the sh?t out of him, victory is yours...
It's not impossible

Check out this post: Cloudy Orb Level 20 BCNM a few of us had taken him down, and posted our experience with the fight, move on over and share our views

Edited: wish I had time to take a screenshot of him... but i was a bit overwhelmed, to tell you the truth, being that was my very first BCNM fight, and the same thing goes for my buddies. We decided to take a break, and come back tomorrow (as in laster on today) take him down a couple more time until we get that oh-so-nice spoil "Scroll: Lightning Spirit Pact"

Can't kill it!
# May 05 2004 at 4:53 PM Rating: Decent
Ok I fought this one. Let's say you need a perfect group to kill him cause there are 3 bats to fight. It was me 20war/10thf and a 20drk/10war and a 20wht/10blk fighting this and we got our buts kicked. We tried killing colo-colo first and we had him down to 1/3 of his life before they took us all out. the problem is that all 3 bats use there blood drain technique which really does serious damage. I would think the best group for this would be a pally/war a ranger and a white would be best for this the pally for high defense the ranger for high attack and the white is obvious. I still havent heard anyone who has beaten him yet so let me know.

Thanks Valeforian, been trying to figure out if lullaby worked for a while now(Didn't even bother checking if it worked on Colo, what a surprise!) Anyway.. Me and my friends have been planning to try this.

They are both new so they don't have advanced jobs, so i'm a little worried about dps.. I'd like some opinions on it though from the experts.

Brd/whm
warr/mnk
whm/blm

I also read a post earlier that got me thinking. Brd/bst? I have signa/whistle/rings etc etc. Been trying to find a garrison tunica with no luck, but my cha is decent. Any input on this? Or still whm all the way? ~Thanks in advance.
