As we were wandering around looking for the NM for the Rdm AF1 quest, we accidentaly aggroed this guy. It wasn't until about halfway through we realized that they were one and the same -_-
Anyways, party was 59Blm, 55Blm, 52Whm(me) and 42Rdm.
He doesn't hit too hard, but he casts a lot of level II spells and -ga spells. None of us could silence him, even with Elemental Seal. So it must take a very high enfeebling skill to do so.
He's got lots of HP so be ready for a long fight. I'd say it's doable by a well balanced party of 40-41 at the minimum.

i went on this rdm AF run and with 300% tp at lvl 49 i landed a 817 dmg raging fists...i am thinkning he has to be a lower lvl then they say >.>
A 55 war helped me (RDM 42) with this guy. It was all pretty uneventfull. I used convert once (i used most of my magic on inv sneaking there) and just CureIIId to keep him over yellow health. It took about 10 mins cause the ******* has a ton of health. I think he used manafront(dont they have tons of mp anyways O.o), but im not sure. heh all went pretty smooth.

I had a lvl 75 help Lol so it wasn't hard
I don't think it's possible to Silence this NM. I've fought him 3 times and have never been able to Silence, even with +20 INT and elemental seal. I think they made him unsilencable so that he wouldn't be such a pushover.
I think he would be beatable as a lvl 55 RDM. You wasted a lot of time and MP trying to silence him that could have been used doing other things.
Important points: Keep him paralyzed and slowed. Keep Phalanx, protect, shell, refresh, regen, haste, and barblizzard up on yourself. Save your TP for Flat Blade if you see him start casting a Ga spell. Keep Enwater up. Otherwise, just melee him to death and heal yourself. Phalanx, stoneskin and blink before you Convert. He will do something nasty once your HP drops to 1-20ish.
It's just a matter of outlasting him. Drain and Aspir him too.. the less MP he has the better.

silenced him 1 time so its possible just rare. my friend a 56 rdm and me 41 took it on. WE didnt bother with nuking it since it has like 4k in hp I subed nin for the hell of it and was hitting for 50-60 hp a shot total and the fight lasted like everyone else 6-7 minutes

Anyway we just kept buffs up and debuffing him at a minimum dia 2 and dispel. All I did was debuff him and heal cause my friend kept aggro so he kept refresh phalanx stoneskin and ice spikes on. Just took a long time. And didnt need to convert. Patience is the key eventually you'll get him down. Just be ready for the long fight. Nuking is just gonna wear you out on this guy.

I just tried to solo this for a RDM43 friend (told him to stay at zone entrance, as I found the storage hole on the way in.) I *did* sub /BLM for warp, as I thought as a RDM55 with Wind Staff I could land silence without the /WHM sub (mind you, only a +4 MND difference)
I was wrong, probably casted it 15 times during the fight, never landed...
I fought him fought about 6-7 minutes I'd say and I just wasn't going to beat him. The problem was, since I couldn't silence him I had to put a lot of effort into buffing and damage control. Blizzaga 2 still takes a big chunk no matter how buffed you are. I took a good deal of his health, but after I converted he wasn't half-dead so I knew I needed to warp out.
I'll say this much... I think I was really close to being able to beat him. This NM will certainly be on my watch list for the future. I think I was close because of one fact, he could not land a single debuff on me. I resisted every sleep/rasp/choke he threw at me. I just couldn't land silence on him. I got through his Manafont just fine, as he used the majority of it for sleep/rasp attempts.
It is possible that Square would make BLM NM's almost impossible to silence. It makes sense, as that would make them darn easy to kill.

Why don't you just Silence him...I didn't see anyone mention that. Or can't he be silenced?

It took us 5-10 minutes to kill him, since we both fought for a while, and both converted during the fight (which is risky since he does AOEs). I checked my convert timer after he died, and was at 5 minutes. So I'm guessing the fight lasted 5-10.
My strategy was pretty much: Stay buffed/en-spelled, keep him debuffed, and keep stoneskin/phalanx up at all times. The other RDM spent most of his MP nuking/curing.. I didn't really nuke much until the end when he was almost dead. We had 2 other orc adds, too, but just ignored them until Purpleflash was dead.
I think i could have solo'd him if I didn't have any adds to deal with.

I soloed this the first time as a 58 RDM/29 BLM and destroyed it, though it took an awfully long time. Now at 66/33 I aggro everything in the area to help it just for fun.
The trick is to use a 150 delay dagger with enspells and haste while keeping phalanx and stoneskin on yourself. Every 100 TP you use energy drain for a free 60 MP followed by Aspir for another 60 MP and drop your hardest nuke on it. Then return to stabbing until you have another 100 TP. It takes me an average of three casts of phalanx to kill it ... but I usually leave the fight with both HP and MP full.
With proper equipment a single 60+ RDM can do this for you easily.

I believe the RDM and BLM used their 2hours.
I opened up w/ 2 raging fists followed by hundred fists followed by 3 more raging fists. it finally died.
Make sure you clear the area of all orcs.

I would not think a level 56 could solo this at any job. I had a level 72 drk kill it along with myself 42rdm and a 42blm. It took at least 5 minutes with the drk hitting 250+, the blm nuking 200+ and 3 Guillotines (each over 1000 dmg). It can use the spell sleepga. The spawn point is in the area (F-9) and is near Orcish Bow'somethings' and Nightraiders which con decent to level 42.
i had a 51pld,51whm, and 61drg kill this NM for my AF1 quest. they owned it so fast. the pally couldnt even keep hate cuz the dragoon was spamming Penta Thrust every 20 seconds. i swear he used it 8 times on him. either way, it took me 5 hours to find the storage bin :/ and now im looking to ditch the sword cuz i leveled from 40-50 in like 4 days. and now the sword is out dated
