Yippie skippie!!! I killed this ram as a lvl 35RDM/1RNG. It was pretty much me dominateing until he threw "Petribreath" at me >< (glad he was fully debuffed). Petribreath lasted about 1 min during which he hit me hard but not a lot. I had 100 HP and 0 MP when he slumped to the ground with a thunderous thud. Btw I am so lucky he didn't use "Great Bleat" Max HP/MP reduction and that he used Rage at the end <phew>.
Dude this is a humungoid ram

Im glad i didnt have to kill him, my girl did as she was running around and caught this bad boy, my blm friend I met there was farming and /t that there was one it was cool but he also noted that he got dominated (hes a 50blm :X) So this is a tough cookie, he also noted me that there was another corpse that got dominated earlier befor him (Wich means hes a tougher cookie) anyways my lovely Mithra ran there and took him out, she let me have the horn to complement my Lambart horn I am still thankful, especial a few minites after my Mithra killed rampaging ram she anihilated Mary befor I made and let me lot the glorious horn (nice 150k) Guys get a Mithra they do you good other than looking hott :D

Rampaging Ram is a (roughly) 24 hour lottery pop with Tremor Rams. Steelfleece (the much higher level NM) is a 3 day lottery pop with Rampaging Ram. Hope this helps.

did this person mean 2-4 hours? not 24 hour? it seems that everyone else that have given times have stated around 2 hours, nothing close to 24. Can anyone clear this up anymore?

Ran across this thing the other day as 33 war/nin, got utterly dominated. Of course I was in the process of skilling up some weapons, so I didn't have my GAxe with, so that certainly didn't help, but this guy took me down hard and relatively fast.

Killed him today.....as a lvl 8 BLM. i was heading to valkurm to static with ym friend when I ran into this thing. First thought was it was a Tremor Ram so I ask my WHM friend (Who had teleported me there) if she was still there. She had ported back to Jeuno so I tohugh "1 tremor ram, she won't care. He this guy is a little big for a tremor ram.....HOPLY **** It's an NM!" I send this news to my ls all asking if I'm dead yet.
A WHM (He was anon but must ahve beed 41+ from the equips he had) asked me if I needed the horn, I told him yes. He tells me to invite him and deciding that It's a great chance to add another NM to my kill-list I do so. The mob used petrabreath on him but I maged to keep him alive by spamming cure on him. He dropped the horn and 1 ram skin. I can do the quest now anyway so I'm happy, I also got 4 skill level with my elementa magic skill on him as well.

I wanna hunt this thing someday, and I will. But for now I'll just post about how my good WHM friend was helping me lvl my THF, and he ran into it. Lvl 41 WHM with SMN sub, the on-lookers didn't help him at all x_x and he died, and lost EXP, kinda messing up his Static party-ness a lil. I felt baaad.

I will extract revenge!... or something.

I once went hunting for this ram and spotted a Tremor Ram on my scoop. As I chased it, I realized that it was getting way out of its area, and I quickly figured some low level player was dragging it. I shouted to the guy to stop, but he couldn't hear, or just didn't listen.

I finally caught up and found the Ram dead at the hands of a level 30. The Tarutaru White Mage it had been chasing was dead as well, and asked for a Raise. I was almost mad enough to tell him tough, but asked for one anyway...

I was farming Tremor Rams when this bad boy came up on my widescan. So instantly i went after it with my lvl 30 mnk/ 1 rng. Well it was an even fight the whole way through until the very end where it was who ever gets the next hits wins. Well with my luck it missed twice then I missed twice and then we all know that it hit me once and I died. But i came back later with a healer and killed it to get it's drop.

Rampaging Ram sucks, you can only use the Horn for a quest called "Silence of the Rams", which in fact gives out a pretty tight title if you do the quest. :)

Just killed one today. WAR41/RNG1 (for widescan). Hand no real problem, 2 Strumwinds at 100% and wacking it with my Great Axe. Left the fight with 320 HP (normally 746).

Was camping Stray Mary and this bugger came up on my scope.

I killed it as a 44 MNK / 1 RNG with no problems. I started with a 300% raging fists and ended with a 100% one. It showed up in the north area of that circle.

For those using Widescan to find it, its name appears on 2 lines.

I am 39/19 Rdm/Whm.
I would have DIED if not for the onlookers that healed me.

I had no protect on and was missing 90 or so MP when I engaged. I thought "Im lvl 39 I can take anything in the stoopid Highlands".

Live and learn...
Whew!

I think that when he said stoopid highlands (i love that) and thought that he could take anything there, he was hinting to how wrong he was.

I am Azurewrath on the Alexander server..

I just fought Rampaging Ram last night while I was camping for Mary. I was a 35 Ranger / 17 Warrior at the time. This guy does hit quite hard though...

This is how I survived:
1) sleep arrow to gather my thoughts on how to fight him
2) barrage for 580 damage
3) Eagle Eye Shot for 625

btw these attacks only did a great deal of the damage. He was still alive! :(

Those 2 attacks definately saved my life. I wouldn't recommend solo'ing this with anything other than a ranger at that level.

I believe i had 136 hp left at the end of the fight.

I solo'ed this as a LVL 35/16 RDM/BLM. It gave me a little bit of a problem but nothing major. I came out of the fight with over 200 hp and about 150 mp. This was not that hard of a fight. I killed it twice now by the entrance to the Valkurm Dunes. I just wanted to post that it is possible to solo this thing at lvl 35.

Gah >.< I hated this NM

Was on my way to crag (as a level 30 whm) so I could hop on a Choco and head for Bastok to meet up with a LS member.

Was near crag and had to go afk because I had to go fix dinner for my little brother.

I come back and I've got this huge ram pounding the crap out of me. Doing about 50+ dmg, and only haveing like 500 to start with.
I ran for the chocobo hoping I could hop on one before it killed me..little did I know. >.>
Bad day..

Just a quick response about this NM.

I had actually gone to Konschtat Highlands to hunt Stray Mary, ended up that I found her, a 50+ thf flee'd+boomerang before I could arrow her (Rng/Nin at the time) needless to say, I stood there for about 10 seconds, angry at both him and myself even still he stayed there killing sheep, still camping her, also within the 1-2 hour time me and my friend were there we spotted 3 Tremor Ram's on wide-scan, saw them, already claimed when we got there.

Spotted Rampaging Ram on wide-scan, ran over, 60+ Bst was whackin at him. His pet, Keeneared..something or other was doing major damage to the ram, good show, but I was 0-5 on the day, watch out for Great Bleat though, AOE Max HP down. Lvl is 28-30 i believe, same as Lumbering Lumbert, I've fought him and he whacked me to death. :D

I thought it was a tremor ram so i went up to it. it was a rampaging ram. i buffed then healed. i saw someone steal it and almost died. He disengaged the monster i took it from him so he didnt die. the monster weakend me so my max hp was 83. i did a cure 2 after every attack. i had to use my benediction. i was down to 3hp and we hit eachother at the same time. Luckily i killed him and he missed. i got 2 ram horns, 2 ram skins, and a rampaging ram horn.

The spawn time is approximately two hours. The Tremor Rams spawn every 10 minutes and when it comes time for Rampaging to come he will spawn in place of one of the Tremor Rams. Also, be careful of Steelfleece because I believe that him and RR alternate hours. So RR spawns, you miss it and get there a minute later. From that point give it about an hour and Steelfleece will spawn. After he is killed, wait one more hour and RR will spawn.

My encounter

I was in kon running around looking for rams when rampaging spawned, so I casted sleep asap on him and started buffing, while doing that I called my pt to com help me with the ram (me 30/12 rdm/smn, 29/?? war/drk, and a 22/12 war/whm) the battle starts and i enfeeble the day lights out of him and used cure III on the 29 war a couple of times and I was out of mp. He saw that and was screaming run, the 22 and I stayed and kept fighting. to cut the story short we dropped him and I had 4hp and 5mp left (my ego just filled upper jueno) we got 2 skins and the rampaging horn YAY ^_^ 1 left to get.
RE: we're nuts

Well I lent out my Field Gear to a friend, so I decided to try my hand at killing Tremor Rams. So I used my lvl 31 DRK and subbed a lvl 1 RNG just for widescan. Rams were giving me no trouble, rarely lost more than 100 HP with Drain and Aspir on my side. Then the Rampaging Ram spawned. Tempted, I cast bio and engaged, and I was doing quite well for a lvl 30 with a lvl 1 sub (I have excellent equipment though). However, I died after taking a solid 2/3 of its life away, I was hitting for a bout 95 a hit. I firmly believe that if I had Blood Weapon ready when I started, I could have won, but no Blood Weapon meant no more Wulfgang ><. In fairness to the Ram though, Im sure he had a special attack saved up to destroy me, although I survived petrify...

I just beat this thing with my WHM41/BLM20.. it was quite a fight... I think the only thing that saved me was my Evasion (+35 with all of my equipment on)
I had about 75% of my magic points when I started the fight. I didnt think he would be too tough being in the Highlands... I was wrong.
I was hitting him 4-6 times for every time he hit me. Once I had him down to about 30% of his HP I had to use Benediction, and then I started to pray.
I finally killed him with about 150HP left, and got his horn. I needed it for the quest but now I see I still need Lumbering Lambert's horn and it seems that he is tougher than this one. I thought I would get something I could sell.. oh well. heh.
thought it would be an easy battle..

I engaged this as DRK/RNG 46/1 thought it would be an easy battle..

First thing he does is to gimp me to 170 hp which freaked me out.

Went down to 100 hp, casted a drain got back to full. Around 50 hp I used my 2hours to drain more hp from him. 1/5 of his health left he casted this petrification on me but luckily it missed. Took him out soon enough after that. I will never try to take him on again, now that I got the horn and all :)

Sorry, but I accidentally posted this same thread on the Rampaging Ram Horn forum. I think this might be a little helpful to some people so I’m posting it on the correct page now.

First of all I’ll say this thing is a lot weaker than Lumbering Lambert was. But then again, this thing actually hit me unlike Lambert.

So the first time I ever saw this was as a level 30 Ranger with a level 15 ninja sub. I was obviously being a little cocky and ate it after taking away about ¼ of its health. After my death a team of two level 26’s (a monk and warrior) attacked it thinking they could defeat it. I laughed pretty hard when it used its max hp down on the two of them. It basically lowered their hp about 90 from what information I got out of them. They both ate it as well and joined my corpse on the ground.

My second encounter came a week later when I ran into him. I quickly invited a random level 30 thief and random level 30 monk that happened to be walking through the zone. We engaged it and things were going well until I used barrage and the ram decided to own me in the face. It finally stopped beating on me because the thief used sneak attack, leaving me with about 110 hp. I kind of just stood there after that not wanting to get anymore hate, but at the same time i prepared eagle eye shot because I didn't want the people who were helping me to die. By the time the thief was about one hit from death I finished it off and we lotted on the horn. I didn’t get it -_-

The third time I ran into it I soloed it as a level 38 ranger with my level 15 ninja as the sub. I fought him with all my gear including my Emperors Hairpin and Leaping Boots. I just beat a thief to him so I didn’t have time to think of a strategy like I did for Lambert if you read my post on his page. Anyways I finished him off with about 2/3 of my hp left.

Hope someone finds this information helpful ^^
