Camped for an hour and a half after last death (killed in J-6). Wide scanned, popped in J-7 next to mountains. Killed him with my wand (didnt use magic) no drop, only a spool of silk thread. Oh well. 34RDM/8RNG
I only killed the same 3 crawlers and Spiny popped.
Spawn 1: K-6 south side of river.
Spawn 2: J-6 south side of river.
Spawn 3: J-7 north of the road.
Update: Next pop was an hour later at I-7, north of road. Beat out a 75BLM lol. oh so sad! 2 spools this time. booo
Update: Got 3rd claim in a row. Popped right next to me in J-6. You found a mist silk cape! w00t

I've camped this NM 5 different times, killed it twice. There are too many people camping this. Wish I could attack campers too. LOL J/K Cerberus
Since Mist Silk Cape is now Rare/Ex does that mean that it's guaranteed or is he like Lizzy?
I need this for WHM, Bard, and SMN. Plus it looks cool!

I agree, I still see it at the AH.
I regularly farm near this critter, and more often than not bump into Spiny.
Currently 14/20 on the Mist Silk Cape (12/15 on one character, 2/5 on another) so I assume the drop is pretty common.
I killed this as Lv. 13THF w/o SJ at first on a secondary character. Spammed Blind Bolts until it died. Not hard at all, but slow and it's poison attack are annoying.
Silk Thread is a garunteed drop, sometimes up to 3 can drop at any one time (in my experience).
It pops, on average, about 2 hours after last death. I see it down by the river most of the time. Rarely any competition on my server so it's pretty easy to claim.

I just camped it spawned 2 hours after last kill <Flee> <Steel> claimed got silk and cape^^ now im not so p**sed off

I saw and killed him at level 18 (rdm). He was at I-7 near a cliff.
I got 15xp, so I think he is level 11-13.
Very easy to kill. I got a silk thread and the famous mist silk cape.

I've seen this thing SO SO many times, usually around the river side area arond the rocks.....I'm 1/5 on this thing and I have seen him 2 or 3 times extra that I didnt count as I was too low lvl to kill it and watched as a higher lvl claimed it ^^;;;

couldn't believe it, when i came home at 5 am today, i thought, oh, let's have a look at the game and i just found myself standing around in east saruta where i was farming bees and crawlers, after a long time of windy farming abstinence...i take a few steps and suddenly i see spiny standing around there on a bright sunny day - i couldn't believe it, i used to camp him before but never even got the chance to fight him, except for that one time where i encountered him as a lvl10 bard which gave me not an idea of a chance...so i easily tear him apart with my lvl50 thf and even got the drop ^^ i can happily go to sleep now, i hope the cape sells for more than a year ago, when i tried to camp him a few times, now...
Caught it today in the dead center of I7 right next to the road, no drop though
Was camping this area night for 10 mins, spawned in I7 (right next to last spawn) near the road. Dropped cape, I'm 1/2 now.

Well I was out farming up some cornettes for windy fame and decided to also camp this guy. Getting silk threads, cornettes, and possibly the cape sounded cool. As always I was using thf/rng for TH2 and wide scan. This is one of the easiest and best notorious monsters to camp IMO. So much other stuff to get while looking for him, great for low level people to get some gil too.

well i was waliin to go to i think it was to go over to garlaige for a pt and i was on my chcoco and i saw him i saids to myself well ive never heard of him is he really worth it?
then i just said what the hell got off and killed it as lucky as i am i get drop use it for a while and sell it for about 110k

Saw him for the first time ever two days ago just north of the ruins after some industrial Crawler culling for silk. Capped him, got the Mist Silk Cape then promptly sold it for the going price at auction, which on Kujata server is 90k. He is being camped HEAVILY on Kujata right now (the past two days I've been levelling BLM in the ruins and every time I passed through there were lv60+ campers around) so don't get your hopes up about getting the now-expensive prize anytime soon.

Does spipi spawn on caitsith server?
One day I went to kill crawlers for the silk thread and in that area running around killing crawlers like there is no tomoro. I think i went on a killing spree for about 4 hours or so. No spipi came whatsoever. :-(

Got the cape the first time I ever fought Spipi. So I'm 1/3 on this prick. Took about 1 hr 45 min. for a spawn last night.

I just cant get this thing to pop, I'v tryed 3 times for about 2-4hours each time T_T its just not poping or if it does I'm not any where near it so I dont know if it has, and some one else kills it ;>.>

Spini has a 2 hour respawn time, rarely is she late and rarely does she not provide me with a cape, or at least 2-3 threads.

yes that is bs for sure im a 44 thf and i was camping spipi for whm that im starting. i went 0/3, 1st time got nothing 2nd time got 2 silks 3rd time got 1 silk. so send him a /tell saying wow your a ******

This could very well be true. Possible, but not probable. There is a 1/100 billion chance that this could be true (if he had TH2+ the TH knife). Personally, I say that that is BS.
