The spwan time of this NM varies. Me and a freind(30blm,15ttf and 18rgn/9thf) were hunting and farming. We were the only ones on he hill and sophie spawned 5 times. WE got the drop 3 out of 5 time. Of cours we spilt the money which was a shocking 100k for both of us. I being the ranger wiped threw eevrythung, but my blm friend would just firaga and get like 8 bee hive chips. All together we made 200k and spilt it. Later i tried to go there by meself but only made 5k :(
My advince is to be a high level blm, get everything u see on you by dia and then just use a blm spell that attacks all and thats 30 k right there :0

YAY! My first time fighting a NM and getting a drop. Was easy but only because I was lvl31thf/15rng.

I freaked out at first, I pulled up wide scan and saw her, being a noob ranger I forgot to choose the track option. So, i start runnning in the direction I saw her on the map and realize I should choose the track option, low and behold, didnt see her anymore. At this point, Im getting mad because of the two hours camping and killing all those bees seemed futile. I then pull up wide scan again, and boom, found her. Run up to her and initiate my sneak attack combo and notice another player in the corner of my screen, I paniced and used Flee to hurry up and get here, hehe.

All said and done I was able to kill her with only getting hit once, for 16 pts of damage. Yes I was lvl31 but naked so keep that in mind also, im sure she can hit pretty hard to lower lvls. After I defeated her, I got the beestinger and decided to add up all the damage I did to her to get an idea of how many Hit Points she had... Altogether, 486 worth of damage was dealt to her... FYI

Also, she spawned on the 2nd lvl (the one below the tomb lvl) near the hill leading back down to the 1st lvl.

I'm now 4 for 6 on the drop, but on the last one I didn't realize I still had a Beestinger in my Mog Safe, so it's more like 4 of 5. Great NM to camp because the drop rate is excellent and Beehive Chips, Goblin Masks, and even Bat Wings are a good fast source of income. The only problem is you have to be on between when most of the JP players log off and most of the EN players log on (Late morning to early afternoon EST) or else you have competition from high level players.

The good thing about this is that I've run into two jerks who rubbed me the wrong way when I was leveling subs in SGusta, stealing mobs I was chasing for a measly 7 gil. I got to make their lives hell for a few minutes by rushing up to every bee they went after and Voking it just before their ranged attack or spell went off.

rare item dont know how you got the drop and kept it since you can only have one in your inventory or mog house. i have camped this mob numerous times because chips sell well in sandy on Fairy server. im 7\9 on this mob. very easy kill and good one for noobs to start with for a first NM. beestinger also a great wpn to have for low lvl thf because it's incredibly fast. If your a noob and interested in camping this mob i suggest going at around lvl 16 minimum w/subjob. very easy to kill as thf, war, mnk. mages may wanna be a little higher if camping her. as previously posted, killing bees is easiest way to make her spawn, since she is a lottery pop depending on the number of place holders killed she WILL spawn anywhere and everywhwere on the 3rd lvl of the hill she pleases.

Obviously I sent my beestinger to my mule before going to get another... :P

And you are wrong, she does not spawn on the 3rd level, it's the 2nd level. Not sure maybe you were confused.

Okay, I spent the better part of my game time over the weekend camping this damned hornet.. Here's my experience.

Stinging Sophie can spawn the ENTIRE length of the 2nd tier of Zegham Hill. The southeast side where the ramp is from the 1st tier all the way to the north side where the ramp is up to the 3rd level. I killed her SIX times, and every time she was in a different area. The first time she was right next to the 3rd level ramp, the second time she was all the way in the corner next to the first level ramp, every time after that she was in between.

Five of the six times I saw here, it was between 05:00 and 12:00. I was almost certain she was a morning only NM, but the last time she spawned at about 17:00. Two of the times she spawned it was on Iceday.

My method was to run from one end of the 2nd level to the other end, killing ANY hornets I saw. It took an average of about an hour to find her each time.

The first 5 times, she did not drop the beestinger! It was getting personal, also I was making mucho gil farming that's the only reason I hung around lol. The sixth time she dropped it. This was with my thf sub at level 7 and my fortune egg equipped. Bad luck I guess?

She went down fast to my level 18 warrior. I don't think the final sting has anything to do with the drop, since when she finally did drop the beestinger she had used final sting.

Anyway, after all was said and done I had harvested over 10 stacks of beehive chips and about 6-7 stack of honey.. Not only that but after finding her the 4th time with no beestinger I bought it, so now I have two and will have one to sell.

So after ~7 hours of camping I found ONE 7k rare, and made +40k in items. lol I actually feel like I accomplished something!

Hey aquafresh, I am with ya. I spent a lot of time up on that hill and when i finally got the beestinger i decided to sell all of the stuff I had earned off of the mobs that I killed up there. To say the least, i made a pretty penny off of all that crap...^^ Anyway i just thought i would let everyone know that camping this NM may not get you money like the others do but it pays off after a while. Checked the AH and I earn about 21k ;3 later

I was up on the hill hunting for Beehive Chips for a few hours today. Just as I killed a Maneating Hornet, I saw Stinging Sophie spawn right outside of my boomerang range. However, the time was right at 1759 as well, so I can't tell you whether it's time-based or a placeholder mob. Anyway, as a THF15 she just barely got me into the yellow before I killed her. Her attack speed is ridiculous, but she missed me somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of the time (Of course my Evasion is capped at 42 and I've got EVA+11 in equipment). Hit me for 4-5 when she did make contact. And of course I got her Beestinger first time I ever saw her. Maybe it's not the most sought-after NM drop in the game, but I was pretty psyched anyway.

I was looking for this stupid bee for about an hour yesterday. I would walk around the entire second level, killing all the bees, and then I'd flee back to the other side, training any maneating hornets I saw, and then kill the train when I reached the other end.

So I'm fleeing my way back, tapping the '0' key to tab ahead to see what spawned, and, there she it, at half health. On the ground below her is a level 9 subless WAR, dead.

I send him a tell that I'm sorry I didn't warn the low level new players that Sophie wasn't a force to be reckoned with unless about 15+

I then Provoke, engage, and owned her. Even at Half health, she survived a Red Lotus Blade and 5-6 normal hits from me, which is about 35+ a shot, RLB for about 100. Was hitting me (25THF/10WAR with pretty much best equip for level, 107 DEF) for 5-7 each hit. Missed often, but I'm guessing that's because of my high THF evasion/AGI.

Found out from dead WAR that it spawned where I had found it, which was in a small patch of 3 or 4 trees (Not sure exact location. Will check later).

I had a level 25 WHM RL friend who was on his way to meet me to get his own Beestinger (to sell) raise the WAR once he got here because of the information I got from the WAR. I also warned the WAR to avoid a lizard called Leaping Lizzy until about 15 as well. ^^~

I later checked my invent and found my Beestinger.

I've fought Sophie twice. First time, level 15 THF I think, no sub. I was going to Sneak Attack it, but it turned around >.< Killed me that time. Came back at level 18 and I was doing great, except for the Final Sting(kills itslef to hurt you a lot). Killed me, but the funny thing was, I still got items, and the Beestinger ^.^
bad luck?

If you are not a lvl 15 or above melee, you will have a hard time with this mob.I tried killing it with my WHM while lvl 18 and I had to use benediction,I casted banishga, banish, every single offensive and enfeebling magid I had and this still gave me a rum for my money. So lvl 10-14s wantin to make quick gil,Id advise you to wait a few more levels before fighting this mob.But I did get a few stacks of beehive chips while killing the bees=)

For Sophie, I think Fire Day is a key, as is Earth day for Leaping Lizzy.. but it also could be that, every re-spawn, she has a small percentage chance of spawning. Either way.. the 2nd level of Zegham hill in North Gustaburgh is where I find her. Usually tucked away in a small swarm of other bees. Just make sure which bee you are attacking.. its bad to attack the wrong one and notice too late that your 20+ damage didn't kill it in the first hit LOL. If you can.. mark down what days you guys are fighting them too .. that may be key.. and lunar cycle as well.

I believe it's just a pecentage of a bees killed, as the first time I killed Sophie, it was on Lightningday, after I killed every bee on the second level. Seems as if this one isn't camped bad, at least on my server, and a man could make a sizable chunk of cash off beestingers.

i sent the screenshot hope you enjoy this nm looks just like other bees just with a different name, and yes i did get the beestinger and she spawns on the 2nd floor after you kill alot of bees.

I was leveling my lvl 8 Samurai on Zegham Hill when i was aggrod by Sophie. Obviously I was slaughtered, and between that and a few other things that had happened that night, I was pissed. So I returned to home point, changed class to lvl 19 Dragoon and hauled @ss back to the hill to kill Sophie. I found Sophie and wiped the floor with her. I was so pleased with myself that I had my revenge and was even happier when I realized she had dropped Beestinger (an Item I didn't realize she dropped).

Sorry to everyone out there who camps this mob with no success.

i cant express in words the disgust i have of these posts. whine, complain whatever. let peopl voice their opinion and dont insult everyone. the japanese players are just like us just different language. theres rude japanese and theres rude americans. theres nice japanese and theres nice americans. if you want that item thne go ahead and camp for a week for it. if it takes too long then level up til its easier. id agree almost entirely with having a limit on what you can hunt but come on, theres plenty of monsters to go around and why dont you log on when theres less japanese. im sensing alot of you get on at night when most the japanese are on, your frustration and bitterness will not get you the nm drops so please dont fight. now in my opinion i would like a clear answer on wether getting bees and wasps together effects the spawning or if its a preset time. but like one said earlier, just level up. in fact my multitude of low level jobs is making me rich. i can afford anything i need and crafting and fishing is a good way to make money. spending weeks and weeks on one item drop.... not to productive or efficient. so ive said enough. good day to you.

I think that you should not complain if another player out smarts you, regardless of nationality. Learn from it and don't let it happen again. It makes you a better player. As far as Sophie, well I've yet to find her myself so thanks to everyone for all the advise on finding her.
