i was walking twords tremor ram spawn wit my lvl 19 and i had a lvl 32 whm with me cause he was gonna pl me when i was runnin i was checking almost every thing then "i saw stray mary" so i then hit ctrl+1 and voked it thank god i had a pl cause a gob was attacking me also... so he got the gob off me and judt let it hit him while he cured me tell i killed her @$$ i didnt get da horn but i did get milk which im still trying to get to sell

I need some help please, I have Camped Stray Mary for 3 weeks now, I have encountered her about 10 times I keep getting the Milk but no horn I always get lucky but i would like if i could a thief and ranger or ranger with Theif Sub to help me out, I am on Diablos server and Would like anyone to contact me please, I only want to do 2 NM's as of right now one here in Konchastat <sp> and the one in Giddeous for the monster signa PLEASE ANYONE out there who can help me please help me : )

Im 1/2 on Mary Horn And i dont even hunt for her. I just run around that big hill in the middle of the map wide Scanning for Tremors. I Scan her around f-7....on seraph its worth about 100k

i have posted this before but it didn't show..

i have found stray mary once a day in area... f-7 i think it was. for a week straight. she spawned everyday between 12:30 and 1pm on a little hill next to the road.. i havn't gotten the horn yet, but i hope this helps. i am on the leviathan serverif it matters any.

She can appear anywhere in the area that is circled on the map. I spent last weekend hunting her for my Bard. I got her 5 times before the horn finally dropped. Three of the sightings were in the area between the two hills on the map (F7-G7), and the other two were in F6 as I recall, though one may have been in G6.

As an aside, VoodooDoll, I wouldn't recommend soloing her at 18/9. I fought her as a 30/15 WHM/BLM, and she wasn't too hard to beat, but Banish II was really the only thing that did consistent damage to her. Once or twice I had to heal myself with Cure II if the fight went too long (stupid Darksday :P). I usually spent on the order of 200 MP killing her.

Also, for any mages out there, camping her as WHM/BLM wasn't too bad. Widescan wasn't necessary (obviously); I just relied on luck. The way I see it, the spawn area is rather large, and there are always at least 3-5 other people camping it. So, unless she happened to pop near me, someone else would probably claim her before I got there. Just run around the area and kill sheep and you'll see her in time. Oh, and bring your club, WHMs. This was a great way to get my club skill up. By the time I was done, I got it to 42 between Mad Sheep, Tremor Rams (Blink+Stoneskin recommended) and Stray Mary.

Finally, be ready to be out there for a while if you want the horn. There are a lot of stories here about people seeing her in 10 minutes, or getting the drop right away. I camped her for a good 3 hours on Friday and 8 more on Saturday. As I said above, it took 5 kills before the horn finally dropped. I got to talking to a 50/25 RNG/THF who was also camping her while I was out there. He told me that he was 2-for-14 on the horn, so it would appear to be a pretty rare drop (hope you got another one, Cobb). However, she did drop the milk every time. She showed up about once every two hours. Just be patient, and eventually she'll spawn near you. If you're like me, this will always happen after your inventory is full of those silly non-stacking sheepskins, and usually while you are recovering MP. :)

i got this today, it was sooooooo easy, hears my story:

My friend and i are looking for a way to get gil, so he says lets go hunt the stray mary, i think to myself "sure why not?"

so i get on a choco and head to the highlands,

my tummy was hungry so i went downstairs to get some pizza, when i come back my friend tells me to start killing sheep. I see a sheep in the distance, and guess what it was??? it was the stray mary, 25thf/14war, got the horn AND the milk, lucky basterd huh? :)

Stray Mary is about the worst NM. I camped it only once and that's what happened:

I was a WHM30/RNG18. My LS told me about this NM and what it droped. Decided to camp it for fun for only 30 minutes so I don't waste that much time. I was in Bastok. Took a Chocobo, and went to Konstchtat Highlands [sp?]. I asked for the POS but no one knew it. So I came to this site to check. After I checked, I went back to FFXI and Widescaned. After about 10 minutes, I see "Stray Mary" on my Widescan. "!!!". I tracked it down. It's not Purple yet. I see it! I use my Dia Macro! Yes! It's red! I start attacking it like crazy using all spells I can. I had no equipment on. Was hitting me for about 20-25. I used Banishga whenever I can. Finnaly, I put this fight to an end. I won.

Rare items you can not have on you in multiple quantities, as far as I know, but Ex items like the Lanoline Cubes Are EX and you can even Stack em. Thus you can have more than one.

You can have two horns if they are labelled "Rare". You can't have two horns if they are labelled "EX" (Exclusive). You can never have two of ANY EX item.

My very first encounter with an NM was here. I'm Choco-ing along to San Doria to make some iron quivers (stupidly forgetting Sandy was in last place that week :P). I suddenly saw her pop in front of me, hopped off, and began a long sword fight with a sheep that couldn't hit me (RNG25/WAR12). I then gave up and wasted my arrows on her killed her and got the horn. Thought the horn sucked... went to sandy and saw it worth 100k!!!!! Sold it for 75k cuz im lazy....

My friends keep calling me a lucky b@$tard...

Also she spawned in the top center of F6, she's a lottery spawn I believe.
