Vana'diel Bestiary: Stray Mary  

Does this NM have a spawn time of 1 hr or 24 hours like other NM's?

I have been camping this thing for about 4 days 5-7 hours a day (LITERALLY) and i havent even seen her once... I am not sure if im hunting in the wrong spot or what, but i would like for someone to show me if possible, in game. The map shows the oval, but you people say she can spawn out of that, so i dont know what the hell i'm doing. I even got the RNG job for this NM and still nothing... I'm on Lakshmi and the name is Condellx. I'm on most of the time, well, everyday, so just whenever if someone could please, thank you. (God i hate this freakin sheep, and Carnero *shivers*)

I have killed her two times by the windmill, not too far from the Crag of Dem. I haven't received the horn either times, just Selbina and Mary's milk. I wanted it for my Bard, but I will never spend 600,000 gil on it! O.o It's just not worth that much money. I am done camping her, but I may Teleport-Dem every now and then just to see if I can get a quick kill. ^^

LoL! Had a poor luck day hunting VE so tried for Mary. Killed sheep for about an hour. Was just about to go AFK so I herded 14 sheep and proceeded to artfully slaughter them. Was making leather from the skins I got when I decided to do a scan and guess what...Mary was right beside me 12:04 Game Time, F-9. Easy kill as lvl 38 THF (LMAO) but no horn drop. Only Mary's Milk.

Oh well, 0/1 on Empress Hairpin now, 0/2 on Mary's Horn but did managed to pick up Rampaging Horn today and tons of leather so not all is a loss.




***3 more kills and still no horn. Funny thing is: every time I try to camp her I can't find her, however, if I go afk in the area when i come back and scan for her I have found her 3 times to be right beside me unclaimed at F-9***

So I'm in konny highlands with a 70 whm friend and my roomate who was a lvl 14 war. The whm is plvling him killing sheep, and he's synthing sheep wool with the skin drops. So me being a 75 ranger I'm scanning for rams and making ram leather all while joking around and having a good time. I hit scan and I see Mary up on the hill by the windmills. No thf subjob and I'm pretty far away, but I decide to make a run for it anyways. There she is munching some grass unclaimed.

30 second fight and boom she drops the horn. I party my roomate so he can get the title and tell them three I'll split the 500k by three so everyone gets a little bit of gils. So we keep on doing what were doing laughing joking having a great time and literally 30 minutes later I'm scanning for rams and Mary pops again. Widescan/track and she's unclaimed again! Let the guys know we party my roomate again and boom she drops a second horn. I have the whm lot it and we head to jeuno and list both horns for 500k. The next day we were splitting 1 million all for just going out and having a good time.

Before this I'll have you guys know it took me 17 kills to finally get the horn to drop for a LS member who wanted to lvl bard. I was dumbfounded by the back to back drops.... but I'm certainly not complaining!

I was lvling my bst today and i saw her pop on top of me at F7.

I used to camp this a lot a few months ago 'cause the horn was going for over a mil on Kujata for a while, I've claimed a whole load of times when I camped as war/thf but i've never seen the drop.

So anyways I thought what the hell and tried to take her on as lvl11 BST so i charmed a nearby Tough sheep and used familear. Waste of time mary tore through it in 5 hits. So I run away, charm another Tough sheep and set the sheep on mary. I repeated this 30+ times before i got her down to 20% health when a skele saw my low health and took me down. all the while a BLM was running around after me watching me do it -.-

A moments silence for the sheep and lizards lost.

It seems like the drop rate on this thing has been tinkered with. That or people seem to be wanting to sell their old horns. It is selling between 200k-400k now, on Odin. And there's currently about 10-11 in the AH. This after I finally happen to get the Horn (Never actually camped her, but fought her twice)

Evil ho.

Seven pops, five claims, one drop. >.> Eight ours of my day down the drain... at least we finally got the damn thing. It was going for a mil a few days ago on Odin, but has finally dropped back down to 600k due to greedy people overcamping.

Alright..just 5 minutes ago from the time i posted this thread, i've found Mary (first time..about an hour's search) it dropped:
1 Sheep meat
1 Sheepskin
1 Jug of Mary's milk
1 Mary's Horn
i hear the horn's worth a lot?..i'll have to go see :P

The longest distance between two points is between a camper and the NM he has on scan.

Just killed her last night, and Horn dropped, after over 2 hours of camping. Which makes me 2/3 with TH2. I also got one stack of Ram Leather, 2 stack of Sheep Leather and one stack of grain seed while camping.

With the price of the Horn close to 1 mil, expect heavy competition when camping her. The key is WideScan - all sheeps looks the same, and I claimed Mary right in front of a MNK/THF who was there for 2 hours as well : it looked like just another sheep to him. If you don't want your time wasted like that poor MNK, go /RNG.

People will kill sheep for XP/skin in that area, so trying to keep track of placeholder is futile. All the mobs in that area have pretty good drops, so my advice is to run around the area, kill anything that moves, and do widescan while you fight. THF is also great for flee, as Mary has a very wide spawn.

On a final note, it is very satifying to one-shot Mary with SideWinder after 2 hours of camping. ^_^
