I fight this guy every time i go farming iv beat him twice and get the plate belt (2000g) and the obelisk (600g) it worth it considering i only make like 5000 farming and a 2000 plate belt helps out
I agree
# Jul 11 2004 at 12:52 PM Rating: Decent
I agree with you Demosk, the only reason i see to kill this NM is for the gil you can get with Mug or you are either broke and need a new spear that bad
Easy Kill

Worthless drop WASTE OFF TIME
If you want to kill a NM for fun kill it but i warned you it sucks! it uses Invinceble (spells do damage still) OBILISK STINKS.... You shouldt have to hunt for it... The 800 gill or so isnt worth camping him

RE: Worst NM
# Jul 11 2004 at 12:54 PM Rating: Decent
Yep, nothing good comes from him unless you have Mug which than it is an easy 1k or more. But other than that you must really want a new Spear to kill him

Worthless drops. Obelisk "sells" for 600-800, but 2 of mine have been put up 3 times each and never sold.

So, me and my level 22 WAR/MNK NM hunting buddy are hunting the Barricader and Wallbreacher (as well as logging). Lost Wallbreacher, got Barricader with no drop. So I use my sister's comp, check to see what NMs are nearby, and decide to sit and camp this guy (unaware that the stuff wasn't worth the hour and a half wait it took).

Killed third tiers, goofed off, and waisted a full stack of silver arrows in my case. (ouch. ><)

My bud goes afk, and I go after a pugil I see spawn in the water. I fall in the water. I have no idea how to get back up that's close, and I don't want to miss the spawn (even though there was no other campers)... So I stand in the water.

About thirty second later, he spawns, and I provoke him from down in the water. I whip out my dagger, and start hacking for about 25 a hit. 3 hits since the start, he goes 2hr.

Like I care. =/ I'm still at my full 435 HP, he's down to 3/4ths.

I killed him before my friend got back, and when he did, he was like "You killed it? o_o;"

BTW, Dropped Plate Belt and no Obelisk.
This is another bizarre and thankless situation you've gotten us in.

Although he may cast Invincible, he's not invincible to MAGIC.

lies all lies! invincible means invincible! just like superman... whoops, didn't he fall of a horse and break his neak?

PS. Whats black and silver and sits at the top of the stairs after a fire?

Christopher Reeve's wheel chair. SNAP!

This guy drops neither Obelisk or the Plate Belt 100% of the time. I have killed him 2 times within about 2.5 hours of each other, first got belt, 2nd obelisk. Drops are random, i dont think spawn is dependant on other orcs because he seems to spawn the same interval... correct me if im wrong =)

1) all NMs con "Impossible to gauge"
2) Spawn time is roughly 1.5 hours, give or take 15 minutes, but I seem to get him more regularly when I'm farming the Tier2 orcs in the area.

All NMs do NOT con "Impossible to gauge"

I beg to differ...

Vatgit is a 'named monster' hence he doesn't read "impossible to guage". Named Monsters are like Notorious Monsters except many are purely there for quest/mission purposes. Many also don't have special drop like Nototrious Monsters.

yes, but it does offer very good defense for its level. If you were a pld with all the highest defense gear availible untill level 16, you make an excellent tank in the Dunes. I had such a person in my party (had coarse leggings, this belt, and a couple other peices of coarse gear i think) and he took almost no damage. Thus, our whm had more mp, and we could chain stuff much better. It really showed when he had to leave and was replaced by a war/mnk with scale gear. We had to go much more slowly.
# Jan 16 2004 at 7:30 PM Rating: Default
it says its impossible to gauge when others are 16 to beat him? im a 23war/11thf? wtf?
RE: Check??
# Feb 02 2004 at 2:03 PM Rating: Default
all NM's are impossible to guage even to a level 75 this thing would say it or even a level 10 NM.i NM hunt alot and they always seem to drop the good prize to some clueless dude strolling by and he hits it while im running towards it saying to myself noooooooooooooo dont hit it ive been here for like 2 freaking hours dammit all to hell then he procedes to kill it in front of me while i rip my hair out and curse his existance. then they usually ask whats this item for? Then i go postal i will tell you what it is for nooby its for you to give to ME so hand it over smackass 57mnk/27thf/10war/17rng/20sam/10bst

Heh... I have a lvl 14 mnk and lvl 12 thf. I was playing my thief, while partied with two warriors. One was level 12 and another was 13. I'm not quite sure if these were n00b's or what, but we all died to this guy thanx to his 2 hr special. I kid you not, we had between 200-300% tp and tried to do a skill chain on him. The timing was perfect and all, but still, both skills did 0 damage due to the fact he used his two hour RIGHT when I hit my "combo" macro. =\. I even had to use perfect dodge and got him down to 10% before it wore off and I had to run with my 24 hp.
Plate belt?
# Jan 10 2004 at 2:57 PM Rating: Default
I've killed him prolly 20 times with no drop of the plate belt. I don't think he drops it. However, he does drop the oblisk 100% of the time.
RE: Plate belt?
# Jan 15 2004 at 6:40 PM Rating: Default
He does drop the plate belt. First time killed, it dropped the Plate Belt, Obelisk did not.

Mikhaile <Bahumut>

# Jan 04 2004 at 3:10 PM Rating: Default
Easy kill for a level 16 Monk. Just watch for his 2 hour, all hits don't hurt him for about 30 seconds. If you come in with 300% TP, and your level 15-16, you can take him easly. Not sure how much weapon sells for.
