I defeated this fellow on Valefor server with relative ease. I have heard that NM are hard so I went as 21 blm / 09 whm. Ha! I cut lose with Bind, Bio, then waterga, stonega, aero, and bam he was dead. Kind of disappointing, searched for almost an hour and only got 1 saruta cotton...
Am i ok?

Maybe if you'd play as a whitemage you wouldn't have so much trougle. WHM healing makes 900% difference. =3
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 04 2004 at 1:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This info is wrong - he does NOT drop Tropical Punches.

Yes, this mob does drop them. It's not a 100% chance it will drop.

I camped this little bugger for four hours today and never saw any trace of him. torched all the mandragoras and cralwers I saw, and some bees and yagoduos, nothing. Lost my day off of work to this. Meh. And what's bad? I'll try again next chance I have to play.
Tough little bugger

You have to kill the mandrogas around the tree so he can spawn. Me and a friend were farming silk with some level 11 jobs. He was a thief, and got Tom's HP to half before I could get to him and died. I figured he would be ez since he was half dead, but he killed me too. I was a samurai and used my 2hr, but the little dodge happy ******* dodged one of my enpis. I've found him a couple of times since. I killed him both times with my lvl 12 samurai without too much worry. He does drop saruta cotton. I got the fruit punches both times I killed him. I'm thinking that the tropical punches are a mythical drop. I heard that only high level crafting can turn the fruit punches into tropical punches.
Been there, Killed him

I noticed on the NM list that there was an NM in W. Saru, so on my next trip to farm Yag Necklaces in Giddeus, I swung up onto the hill to look for Tom. Found him a little east of the fort. As a level 18 MNK I beat him with very little effort (didn't even rest until much later in Giddeus). Got the Fruit Punches which I am selling as I have +1 Brass Knuckles and I like the extra damage. As I recall I had to hit him with a couple of Combos at around 180% TP and I hadge Dodge on when I started the fight.

Always easy to kill those mobs when you are almost twice their level.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 19 2004 at 11:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i saw him and kill him in one hit with lv 23 ranger ....got leaf.... and i want to know why the ???? why anyone would want fruit punches?...there dumb!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 22 2004 at 12:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) moron do you even know what they are? or what they sell for? Apparently not

he spawns every 30 min( he did when i was there) because i was out for that long and killed him twice but he was no where near the spot circled on the map. He dropped nothing for me.

as a level 11 warrior, i almost beat him, but i realized he had the upperhand and escaped with ten life remaining. I came back to witness another level 11 die at his hands.

I then finished off the beast, but i didnt get anything because apparently the other person had /helped (although I hadnt seen him do so).
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 08 2004 at 11:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I camped that f*ckin hill for 2 f*ckin days and never saw that *****! I did get 1500 exp but that sucks *** when the most you get out of any given mob is 18!

the little critter only spawns when you've killed enough mobs in his range (the red circle on the map) in a small enough amount of time. most likely, another mob is a placeholder for Tom Tit Tat, so the best / only way to get him to spawn is to kill everything around quickly.. particularly the mandragoras. at level 18, i don't think this could be done quickly enough to make Tom Tit Tat spawn, unless you had other players killing mobs in the same area to help you along.

i've croaked him 5 or 6 times. made 15k off of three seperate Fruit Punches drops.. haven't seen the Tropical Punches. yet. ;)

You haven't found the tropical punches yet because you have to craft them from the fruit punches.

Hit points on Tom

I think that you should definatly be prepared when you go into battle against this mandragora look alike. As a 26thf/10mnk I dropped two Iron arrows into him with a wrapped bow for 126 damage each and moved his health bar a quarter or so. I would estimate that he had around 400-500hp total. So if you can't deal out a good amount of damage or outlast him then I suggest you level up a bit before taking this guy on.. it'll be a battle of hp in the end.

I can't say how much he hits for however, as he didn't hit me at all. I found him just where the map said he would be at the top of star whatever hill in west saru.

He didn't drop anything worth value other than a 2 leaf mandragora bud and two balls of cotton. Not a bad drop I suppose but I wanted the punches for my monk! Someday perhaps.. till then I hunt him and Spiny sipi <fumes over never finding spiny>..

I bet him down fairly easy today only being a level 15 THF. I still had over half of my HP.

Easy
# Jan 04 2004 at 5:29 AM Rating: Default
He is not that hard. As a level 13thf/6mnk I took him down and only went down to about 1/4 life. All he dropped was a 2-leaf bud though. :(
Worth?
# Jan 03 2004 at 4:01 PM Rating: Default
How much are the fruit and tropical puches actually worth?

RE: his name

Actually, his name *was* Tic Tac Tom for a very brief time during beta. They changed it a few weeks after the start of it though to what it currently is now. Guess they're well still in the translation phase during that time eh.
any possibility
# Dec 12 2003 at 3:26 PM Rating: Default
Is there any possibility that his spawn times are similar to that of Spiny? like very 3 hours or something. would be good if someone could confirm this
