Level?
# Jan 08 2008 at 12:05 PM Rating: Decent
Not sure why he hasn't got a level attached to his profile yet.
He still cons EP to me as a 64 Dark Knight, although he doesn't aggro.
I made the mistake of taking on the bunch of them, thinking they would be as easy as all others in there. I was wrong.
Don't underestimate this little band of gobbies, I think they've been partying with each other for a while and know how to compliment each others tactics.

I saw this party while running around in Oldton. I thought it was kind of funning seeing a party of goblins. I fought them all head on and took them out pretty easy. BLM and RDM tried sleeping, silenceing, againg me but everything was resisted pretty much. Very fun fight though. Just gotta take out mages first so you don't have to worry about them curing everything.

For WHM 75 thinking about soloing this for their Shrimp Lantern - each gob alone is straightforward but /BLM saves you (Sleepga). The party has a tendancy to cause you pain, occasionally landing sleep and throwing -aga's, Bio II, Poison II etc. Had no problems with Noble's and Spirit Taker but might want to bring drinks otherwise. Two people - np at all. Glad I didn't sub THF as I originally planned...

While camping Bugbear strongman with some friends i have killed this guy and his compadres a few times. I can attest that he does have 3 goblins with him at his spawn time. As a 73Mnk/37war i can solo the lot of them assuming i keep them all in my foward viewing arc and stay close enuff to where the mages like to sit so they will attack and not just cast spells. Tho usually my whm friend ruins my fun by sleepga'ing the lot of them i have several times solo'd the lot with counterstance zerk focus dodge and a chakra when available. Takes about 400-800 hp to do so but hell having one cure every 5 mins and having 4 gobs swinging at you and casting magic i think thats pretty good.

Tough fight. Free lancer EP to lv60 drg/whm. I pulle done after half the health the rest linked and I fought. Pull a party memeber away form group when they dont look. Kill it do it again kill the 2 left and bam you should win. I lived but a Blm cured me at the end. if I hadnt of gotten cure I might have still one.

Normally there are 2 groups of Freelance & pals. On Sunday night, I went in to help a few friends with their keys and found a single Freelance (no pals) in 1 spot and the normal group in the other. Well, after killing the single on Sunday, as of last night that group of mobbies still hasn't respawned.

Has anyone else ever seen this? Normally both groups are pretty much on the 14-15 minute timer.

Shantelle :)

Everytime I head to Oldton, I see these guys. Every time I seen them, it's a party of 4 moblins, Freelance seems to be warrior type, He double attacked me a few times, the others I've seen with him seem to be a rdm, whm, and blm. My advice is to sleep 2 the Freelance and 2 others, take out the whm type first. Then kill the BLM as he likes to cast Thundaga, Firaga, Thunder 2, Blizzard 2, and Fire 2. I just tried to solo them as 60DRK/30THF...I'm just happy I had a Reraise gorget. I'll try again sometime subbing SAM so I can spam Guillotine. BTW, if you kill Freelance and sleep any remaining to rest or whatever, the others disappear and respawn further off on the adjoining platform. If you Sleep the freelance, the others wont aggro, so you can try sleeping the other 2 and pulling one. These guys also link bugbears and any other mobs/gobs around if you get them too close.
Avoiding party links.

If you attack the Freelance just as it spawns, before it moves, and don't move it, the other moblins won't aggro and will despawn after the Freelance dies.

This mob drops Moblumin, however it is a rare drop, taking me 8 or so hours of getting each spawn for 2 ingots.

This mob shows advanced intelligence upon linking with one of its "party members". Myself and a Dragoon friend were fighting a Moblin Coalman and Gasman, and the Freelancer aggroed - not to us, but right away to Raiden, my friend's wyvern. Clever eh...

I shall have to test it with other pets when I'm able to go in there safely as my Summoner (only 34 at the moment). Happy hunting!

Been in Oldton around 10 times, each time I spent about 2-3 hours in a row (rarely even 4 hours).

I *NEVER* ever came across Freelancer's and their accompany.

Yesterday evening around 22.00 GMT I once more came across H-10/H-11 and there have been two of them (I was there already an hour or so and did cross that region the 3rd or 4th time by then).

Now: its seems to me as if there is any kind of schema when Freelancer is popping. Anyone got an idea? Do others agree?

It seems that SE has implimented goblin "Parties". There are three or four that follow him. Haven't tried to kill one yet. if he and his party run into something called a "Goblin Gurneyman", they'll follow him about.

It casts Dispel and Silence? I fought it before in a crowd, so I never really paid attention to what he was doing...

The Newton Movalpolos equivalent to the Goblin Freelance is the Goblin Swordsman, and he uses a Gluttony Sword.

Soloed the Freelance and its group as well as a Moblin Gurneyman that linked mid fight at RDM60/BLM30. Keep the freelancer and one mage moblin of your choice slept the entire fight- it makes things much easier.
Job possible?

This thing is like Rdm/Whm or Whm/Rdm, he casts Dispel, Protect/Shell IV... Just from my observations..

Does anyone know for sure what Freelance's job is? My ls formed a pt to go exploring and got beat down the first time by the group so we came back and fought freelance first then the rest and won.

Careful when fighting this solo. I tried this as 61 Rdm thinking the links wouldn't be a problem since I had Stoneskin + Phalanx + Shock Spikes for crowd control. Wasn't so bad until the Rdm Goblin(s?) started using Dispel and Silence on me. I barely made it out of there alive thanks to Chainspell > Escape ; ;

Freelance is Easy Prey to me as well though it won't aggro me so it'll probably become Too Weak at 62.
Goblin EXP Party!!!

Hehe, this group looks really cool... as long as you're not the one getting ambushed by them. >.<

I saw someone mention that there were 3 other gobs, must be because a couple others were picked off. The ones I have seen were the Freelance and 5 others, many of them casting buffs on each other and everything (just like an actual party) I just knew I was gonna see one of them to cast a Teleport-Altep so they could go off and level. :p I can't remember all their names, I'll have to write them down when next time I am in there.

I was in Oldton as a 56RDM and they all checked easy. I came across a 75WHM taking on the whole group so I decided to help out. I took out the boss, the Goblin Freelance. It was a long battle, but I didn't have much problem with him, just kept phalanx >> stoneskin on and he didn't put much of a dent in me at all.

I was in here with a few Thf friends of mine, and we decided to take on the Freelance. Well, SATA+VB from one and SATA+Shark Bite from the other killed him REALLY fast, and as soon as he died his followers all vanished.

A second Freelance was killed less quickly, and his followers linked. This time we had to kill all of them.

So, if you kill the Freelance without linking the other gobs, you don't have to deal with them.
Freelancer 4-pack
# Sep 27 2004 at 9:42 AM Rating: Decent
Yeah you don't want to mess around with that 4 pack of gobs if your 68 and solo. Unless your can get the others to sleep. I attempted to pull the one off the tail end while the others were not facing it. well unlike most the whole team came along with it. I got one to Sleep. But they were hitting me so fast I kept getting interupted and so I had to Flee and zone to survive.

HeH. I was with some friends and stumbled across this dude. He is just another goblin, but he does look badass, also, it seems he keeps bodyguards lol.
There were 3 other goblins on auto-follow wherever he went, and this was with every freelance i saw, not just a glitch. Guess SE wanted an interesting little challenge when attempting to get his chest key.
