Vana'diel Bestiary: Tumbling Truffle  

I did some research and found this NM was easy to camp so i took my rng/thf and camped for 35 min. 1st kill got the drop. Happy as a pig in shiit

I tried hunting it one day and I noticed that you have to go down into the canyon. Well I've searched all around and I couldn't find anyway down there!! Can someone please help me out?

I love camping this guy, because he is almost never being camped when I go down there looking for him. I fought him three times in the course of 4.5 hours, and I got the drop on the third try, so ... yay, me!

Sold it for 30k on Hades, seems low for an NM drop but you know what, I'll take it. It was relatively easy to get, and I didn't have to bother with competition and jerks who think they "deserve" to get the NM.

I think I've killed him more than 9 times, and the very first time I was a level 22 RDM. He's so easy. Funguars link so if you are kind of low you should watch out for that, but otherwise no problem.

This time I took my black mage down there at 29, managed to get quite a few Club skillups while whacking funguars left and right to get him to spawn. All in all, not a bad way to spend a few hours.

And to the person who said that he spawns ONLY in the circle: that's not true. Twice I've had him spawn close to the entrance of that final canyon, so my advice is to rest there so you can watch if anyone is coming by, and they don't steal him away from you. I will usually wait for the first one to spawn, then run to the end where the monument is, kill those funguars, and work my way back to the resting point. This way I know that no one is going to sneak up on me and take him without my knowing.

I hate this NM. My friend Dean told me about Tumblng Truffle and he got drop 1st try, so i dicided to try it out... ive seen it 3x; 1st time i hunted for about 2 hours and then some guy comes over and kills is while im killin a poison fungar... 2nd time i kill it and get 2 sleepshrooms... and the 3rd time lv 63 THF loggs on TT and kills it while im killin another poison fungar... and he gets drop!

THIS NM SUCKS i killed it 6 times no damn drop!

Ok heres my story, lucky story :)

I wanted to start cooking so i go down to La Theine Plateau to farm some Water Elementals for water crystals. After waiting for 10 min for rainy weather i decide to check allakhazam for La Theine's NM's. I see Tumbling Truffle and decide to run to it while reading the posts. I'm there and i see 3 funguars, i happened to check the first 2 and theyre normal, the 3rd, Tumbling Truffle!! I start wailing on him as a RDM30/BLM15. he does little dmg to me while im screaming at my LS.

I killed him.
Etnies defeats the Tumbling Truffle.
You find a sleepshroom on the Tumbling Truffle.
Etnies obtains a sleepshroom.
You find a fungus hat on Tumbling Truffle.
Etnies obtains a fungus hat.

Theres my luck!! 1/1.

First off, it says above 'Can spawn anywhere in the canyon'. Actually it only spawns in that circle on the map...
I camped this to get my friend Uraen the Fungus Hat...
The first day, It spawned after about one hour (no drop), i waited a further 5 hours. No spawn.
The next day of camping (about a week later due to frustration from the previous camp) I took Uraen down and we both found it after 1 hour, no drop again.
Then this morning, we went out, I killed the two funguars in that small circle on the map and guess who spawns right when Uraen logs in next to me? We get the drop and Uraen starts singing in /shout.
That's our camp in an nutshell. All i can say is that only bother killing the Funguars in that circle on the map, unless you are stacking Sleepshrooms. Just wait in that small area, and it will come soon...

Well I saw this NM standing over the ledge in the area. So, being the curious little kitten I am I try to find a way down there. Needless to say I find my way down, but I'm met by an old friend from a LS. So there we were talking to each other as we ran through the series of tunnels to get to the damned thing. She wanted that hat, I was just curious. So we had a race to get to it. I dunno if she was a thf because she could have used flee but she didnt. Once we get there I attempt to Dia it and she attempts to pull it with a ranged attack, well she got it and the drop. I didnt really want it as it only sells for about 10k but I congratulated her on her win. Next time I'm gonna want this hat.. >>;;

Okay well i learned a few things:
Killing the other fungars in the area doesn't do
anything but pass the time and give you stuff to sell.

And as said above he spawns every 2 hours.
I was fighting him and used Beni on him. No Drop ><.
Then he spawned again and i noticed i was able to use Beni in around 45 seconds.
So yeah built in NM timer! lol

oh if you need help getting down there, there is a ramp of sorts at H-7 that will head you down.
Simply follow the canyons and go through the tunnels, ( filled with plague and poison bats, btw)
and you will end up in the canyon north of where he spawns. Keep going and will lead you to it.

Also down here is a Stone Monument that is needed for a quest from Selbina
entitled,"An Explorer's Footsteps"

Once and awhile I like to camp easy NM's like him so I went to La Theine, went to a area and started killing fungaurs. I did that for about 2 hours and wondered why it didnt pop yet. So I logged off and checked the spawn point in allakhazam and realized that I was in the wrong spot ><. So I went to the correct spot and killed fungaurs for a hour and by that time I was really tired and dicided to go to sleep. Next morning I wake up, log in and there he is. The tumbling truffle right in front of me after I logged in. I went over to it, killed it, GOT THE HAT!! I went to sandy and sold it for 20k. Not bad eh?

Just wailed him after a 1 hour camp. Recorded it :D
Got the hat. I wear it everywhere now. :D

Camped him for the past two days....

IM experince it spawns ever 2 hours 20 mins, I've killed it 7 times and as yet it hasn't dropped the hat.

Mind you I have sold 10 stacks of Sleepshrooms, 3 stacks of Honey, 2 stacks of Behive Chips and a number of giant stingers.

So now I have a fair few quid, cool!

Also in my experience on Midgarsomr (sp) there are very few people any where near this area.

Ps it spawns all over that gorge not just the circled area, and the guide above showing how to get to it without going through Ordelles is awesome, you CAN choc all the way there.

Go for it fellow hat hunters.

pps you have to kill loads of poison funguars this will speed up the spawn as far as I can make out.
