I'd just like to know wether he spawns inside the Chasm at J-7 or on the outside of it....i've been camping him for 6 hours everyday for 3 days and haven't seen a thing!! please help me out here.

i was on my way to get the Selbina clay monument thingy..... saw this guy for my 1st time, killed'm easily and got the hat =) 1st try
**same thing happened with stingy suzy or whatever the NM bee is named. Was doin the "put flowers on some tombstone" quest and saw her, killed her and got the beestinger =)

I always camp this guy.
I just seek party then come to the spot and camp him while waiting for an invite. ^^;

My lvl 16 Blm and lvl 15 thf friends and I (I'm lvl 15 War) were down in that chasm to get the stone monument, and lvling up a bit too, and that thing attacked us, killed me in a few hits, then chased them. Finally got someone in Valkurm to come raise, he came down, joined our party, and we got our revenge. Got the hat on our first drop. ^.^

I finally got the damn hat. I camped this thing for Weeks and all i got was a sleepshroom. When I hit 30 as RDM I took 15 thf and first try got hat it sells for bout 10k on my server.

why would u camp this worthless NM, the hat doesnt sell for crap. sells for 8k on my server and ive had it for sale for 2 weeks now and it still hasnt sold. everytime i go to jueno(form sandy) i stop by the spot for 5 mins to see if its there, but never anymore then that. waste of time.

Spent 5 hours camping this NM (it pops once a hour). nothing but sleepshrume every time!

hey guys just a lil story about how i got the hat.
i was leveling bst 15 wasn't even looking for the truffle and i spot him in widescan.. i trak him and take a fungus T pet to it... kills it grab another one. same thing after that i kills me so i say ....ok let me hurry on back for another try and i did see him again same story.
after that i decide to hp and change to my highest level which is mnk 55 and sub thf 15 to it... hop on choco ride to where he kills me and he was still there.. kill him in 2 shots and i get the Fungus hat... is that a trip or what.. anyway good luck to all of you on getting the hat

You do NOT have to go through Ordelle's to get to this guy. just enter canyon closest to lake in La Thiene and follow through 2 smaller caves and you will get to where he spawns

camped him today for 3hrs... he spawned 2 times, i got both kills......but no hat....... *sigh*

To answer everyones questions about how to get down into the canyon..
There is an entrance at pos H-7 to the canyon by the lake. Head due Northeast and follow the caves through 2 more canyons. Make sure you grab a lump of Selbina Clay because this is where Abelards traveler's monument is at as well!

This actually leads to the canyon just north of the one Truffle spawns at. You do have to go through Ordelle's Cave to get to him.

I actually had it spawn on the other side of the Canyon. It was probably there for a while before I killed it.

I have camped and killed him twice...

I was camping this with my brother and friend at like 4AM one time. There was a 50 whm/thf that camping it. My brother and I each took a certain section of the canyon and my friend (30 thf/war)Followed the lvl 50. When the lvl 50 used flee to try to escape, so did my friend ^^. Anyhoo, after a few hours we killed it twice and got 2 hats. First NM camp!
I was leveling my sub today and got a message from a LS member that was also lvling in La Thiene, saying that he had seen tumbling truffle and to get over there to kill him. I was a little scared because I was only lvl 18war/9mnk but decided i might as well try. I got there w/ 300 hp (my max at lvl 18 was 355) and engaged it. Using mighty strikes and a meat mithkabob i was able to take it down w/ about 70 hp left. The level for this guy isn't very high. I would say 18 w/ mithkabob and sub and maybe 20 w/o. Since usually people want to be like 5-10 higher than the NM to be safe, I would say its not necessary w/ this monster.
Killed him today w/ 23war/8mnk. took about 2hrs for spawn, and killed every funguar in canyon. spawn was on earthday about 13:00. got the hat on first and only try so far, and I was only one camping him. first three hits on him were criticals and then i used 2hr to be safe, and he still had me to 180/456 hp.
also hat is going for about 10k on Pandemonium server

so I take it that the recomended level for soloing this beast is in the mid-20's as a war?
I just thought I'd put my two gil in being I've camped this thing more than anyone here.
When I was camping it I was a level 26mnk/13war.
I've killed the Tumbling Truffle 15 times and on the 15th kill, I got the drop.
The hat looks great on me after all that trouble!
It has spawned for me as early as an hour past the first kill,or I've gone 5 hours without ever seeing it, although in my experience it seems to appear every 1.5 hrs on average.
It works on the placeholder theory, so kill all the fungars in the canyon.
It spawns anywhere in that whole canyon.
The hat is worth about 10K on my server (Bismarck)
It's a good spot to camp, not over camped and if you kill the fungars, and bees, you can get a good quantity of behive chips, pots of honey, and Sleep shrooms.
Also if it cons as Easy or more, Fungars drop dak crystals which sell very well.
Due to this NM I have spent the last few weeks leveling my sub jobs, War/15 THF/15 and raised my monk to 30 just for treasure hunter... I will get that measly 10K drop.. I'ts the moral of it.

They should expand the area he spawn in to the the whole canyon, cause I've found him several times at the other end too.

I camped this guy, and I had to kill him 4 times before I got the hat. It took me a while to find him the first time, but after that I just sat around killing fungaurs non-stop, and he spawned almost exactly every 1 hour.
To get down into the valley, you have to go down into the valley at I-6 and run underground for a bit.
