I went on this boat and successfully fished this up we had aprox 7 ppl and we docked @1% its a very difficult nm best strat i can suggest is a shen type one
I fished this thing up just running around as a 60drk30rdm, fished it, set up regen and barpoison to counter it's poison, slammed it with Bio2 and Poison 2, and absorb STR and Absorb VIT, whacked on it for almost the whole boat ride, using guillotine everytime it popped its head out. Got it down to maybe 6-700 hp left before the ride ended. Only reason I survived it's poison was Drain and Aspir, with a few cure 3's tossed in
Well, to give a bit of info on these, heres a good stratigy...
Enfeeblement. it has a nasty regen, which makes soloign the weaker ones hard, do spam dia, reqruim, burn, shock, bio, ect.
RDM Can't dispel it, unless its better than BRD dispel. I used Mages Final and it had no effect, meaning it wasn;t resisted.
These are fun to kill/try to kill. As a lower level bard i can hack at them all day, but the rides are to short. I can get them down to 50%hp in about 10mins as a 46brd, just enfeeblign and hacking
I've dispelled the regen from all the normal uragnites...it also tends to make them come out of shell and spam their poison again. Dunno about the NMs though.
Bah they changed it in the update, you can no longer dispel their regen. Thanks again SE for making **** more unecesarrilay hard than it needs be.
Myself and a rdm friend were fishing on the manaclipper a few minutes ago and pulled this guy up.
Needless to say the two of us couldn't even put a dent in him. A friendly thf on the boat tried to give a hand but by the time the ride ended he probably had 3/4 or more hp left lol ><
Gonna grab some more people and try again later :) boots would be nice ^^
I figured the more info on Harajnite the more people will camp. The more people camp the less the shell will cost. The less the shell costs the more happier BLMs are with their sweet Igqira gear.
That asside here it goes:
Harajnite is a Uragnite family NM that is fished up on the manaclipper. It's unique in the fact that when it's head is out of it's shell it will take full damage as opposed to when it is shell where it will only take 25% damage. It has an extremely potent regen which allows it to constantly build HP. It's defense along with regen and short ride time of mana clipper make it a somewhat difficult NM. But the key is STRATEGY STRATEGY STRATEGY. First of all, here is what you need to camp, with this NM more is always better, but this is the basics.
RDM = Everytime Harajnite goes back into it's shell it will activate its Regen. RDM supposedly can dispel it's regen after each re-shelling. It shell's after taking a certain amount of damage or a certain amount of time has passed (about 15 secs)
DD = Doesn't matter what kind, bring all the Damage dealers you can. Melee can get tp while it's shelled then release it when it unshells. Blm's can time their nukes to hit it when it unshells. If you have 3 or 4 blms set up a Nuke chain. I nuke tier IV nuke every ten seconds, or if you're even more experienced with how long it will take before it de-shells again try and have you blm cast their nukes to hit it when it's unshelled. It tends to stay shelled for 30-45 secs. so time your tier IV about 10-20 secs after it shells up.
Over coming the it's large HP pool and the fact you only have a short time on the mana clipper is the hardest thing about this NM. NO tanks or whm really necessary, it hits about as hard as a robber crab. 50-70 damage per hit to a 75 BLM. Also there is another NM that can also be fished up on the mana clipper, Cyclopean Conch. use same stratedy as haraj, but it's alot easier, less HP, less harsh regen.
POP TIMES: We had about 10 people camping 6-7 were fishing at all times. I noticed that we would get harajnite about every 30 mins, it seemed to stay pretty close with this pattern. I think if the fisherman who gets it on their line fails to bring it up, it wont pop for another 30 mins. It CAN be fished up by a lvl 0 Fisher. I have done this 2X's now. Any combo of rod and bait seems to work. Confirmed are FLY Lure, insect paste, little worms, composite rod. Since I was a lvl 0 fisherman, I could tell when I had harajnite on the line, it's alot harder to fish up than anything else out there.
Cyclopean Conch is on a shorter spawn time about every 20 mins. so some times their spawns will overlap. you'll catch 2 CC's before getting another harajnite. We actually fished both of them up at one time along with another urajnite. It was quite the battle.
In Closing, don't be scared to go and camp these two. Risk of someone dying is low since attacks from the harajnite are mild at best and the only dangerous thing about the battle is the poison which can be handled by using a venom potion before battle or antidote/poisona. Drop rate is kinda lowsy, I'm hoping SE will imporve them in the future since not alot of people are sporting the huaraches yet.
As far as I've been able to determine THF is the best DD for these things. Bring a couple along and they can SAnTA it every time it sticks it's head out. Other jobs can build TP and then WS it, but only THF can provide a damage spike every 60 seconds. Forget DOT, it's totally worthless here, when they shell up all physical and magical damage is reduced 75%.
I know what you're thinking, but ancient magic takes to long to cast and will end up being wasted on it when it's shelled. Forget skillchains, it'll shell after the first WS goes off and the second WS and the chain/magic burst damage will get reduced by 75%.
Whatever jobs you bring, before you fight one of the NMs take an hour to practice the routine on normal uragnites so you get the timing down. Hitting it when it pokes it's head out takes timing and teamwork so make sure you get it right before you risk death against one of these things. The most important thing is to have everyone keep their camera unlocked, and to have a spike damage order. When it unshells everyone turns around and stops attacking (so it doesn't shell up again from the damage) then one person does big attack on it, then everyone faces it again and continues to build TP.

Ancient magic is useless if you're trying to get this for your 73+ blm. Seeing how BlizzagaIII and ThundagaIII have half the cast time if not less do more damage and use less MP, they are definately the best bet... Which is why blm are also the best DD for these things. Probably why the drop is for the igqira feet. ;)
Hrm.. I see a ton of information on how strong it is, and what level you need to be to dismantle this NM, but..
If you were actually hunting for it, what Fishing Level would you need to fish Harajnite up? I'm not sure how monster-fishing works, myself, but do you need a certain skill level to be able to fish up a stronger mob? What sort of FishSkill levels are the players that encounter this? Please, any speculation or testaments would be appreciated. This seems like an awesome challenge.. If I can find it!
I fished it up a couple times with only 11 fishing, and while it check "no chance in hell at chatching" and was MUCH harder to pull up than all the other mobs on the clipper it was still very doable.
Definately not a 100% drop though, we killed a bunch of these and didn't get one shell. (and yes we were killing Harajnite not Uragnite - we killed hundreds of these).
At least 1 full 75 party is recommended, not because it will necessarily beat you, but because it's very challenging to fish it up, and still have time to beat it and still get the drop before the clipper lands.
Also, make SURE someone has "quartermaster" set on them so the instant you kill it any treasure goes into that person's inventory. Heck if you're fighting over it you can /random after but seriously seconds count *a lot* when you're fighting this nm multiple times with a time limit.
I fished it up with a clothespole and little worms as bait. They're the cheapest thing on vandiel at 3g/pc, just buy like 20 stacks of those and go nuts.
we killed this thing once for the BLM in our LS, first time we fished it up, didn't kill it, ran out of time. the 2nd time we fished him up we had the time to kill him, i was using gun, and was hittig for about 130(if i remember correctly) when he was out of his shell, and for about 40 while he was in. anyway he's not a hard fight, every needs antidotes tho, that poison is killer....really
There are no Harajnite Shells and no Igqira Feet in the history on Fairy's Jeuno AH at all. I hope there are some feet available when I get BLM to 73, even if I have to pay a ton.
Siatdiat from PO on midgardsormr server here, went after Harajnite again hoping to give everyone some tips on how to defeat this nm. 1. with luck youll fish it up quickly, need all the time you can get to kill it before trip ends. 2. blms dont worry about casting your big nukes as they are too hard to time. use tier II maybe III spells if you can manage to hit with them, the window is very small that he is out of his shell, and as far as i noticed it has nothing to do with damage taken, its a constant rhythm. All melees build tp on him while hes in shell and WS as soon as hes out, forget doing skill chains. (attn mnks: somehow he can defend against chi blast.....) 3. Rdm helped alot, some of the first times we fought it before Wolfie came his regen was just too intense :/ Rdm regen helps more inbetween boat rides to get mp back then for the fight, it shouldnt take that long to kill it once you have him, we had 2 blm 75 and both of us had mp left after we killed it. Blm should sub whm to help out the melees fighting, i tossed a few curaga II and a few poisona. 4. Have someone set as quartermaster, if you have alot of people who want to lot on it random it afterwards. Not worth the risk of losing the shell after you kill it, the shell literally dropped seconds before our boat ride was over. 5. If you have a party of 75 you should be able to kill it pretty easily if you just ws every opening, and try to drop those small nukes on it. Good luck guys, we spent awhile messing with this and got very lucky that it dropped for us.
2) Have a few Antidotes before attempting to take him on.
3) DON'T use weapon skills when he's inside his shell. They do full damage when he's outside, 25% when he's inside.
4) DISPEL THE GOD DAMNED REGEN! I can't believe most of the populace hasn't even tried this. The regen is replaced every time he goes back into the shell, so just dispel it each time.
He's NOT that hard. It's just people don't think anymore when they engage something.
The key to fighting any of these shells is to time very power attacks at particular openings... When they duck down, hurting them is a wasted effort... but when they come out their defence is non-existant... the problem is once they take X amount of damage while they are out of their shells, they go back into hiding...
I'm not sure how much HP this shell has since I havn't fought it personally, but I would recommend only fighting it with blms as DD... Wait until it pops out of it's shell, then have all blms start casting Thundaga III at the same time... if done properly, all will land before it puts up it's defence again... Just keep waiting for it to pop out then hit it with as many nukes as you can at the same time, should be an easy fight once you get the timing down...
Don't have anyone melee it though, it's possible they will cross the dmg threshhold and trigger it to hide again before the volley of nukes land...
Damn no wonder there are no Igqira Feet on the AH the item dropped by this NM, Is set on 2.3 million on Leviathan Server. I tried to fish it the other day but nothing what level do u have to be or is there no level requirement.
Only one has sold and the person sold it to themselves. The 2,323,027g that the person sold it for was all the gil they could post if for after paying the tax to put it up, so there is no real price for it. Let people start farming them and we'll see the market come to a price.
stupidly enough, I've done it twice without fail, and as far as I'm concerned Composite Rod + Minnow is a guaranteed way to fish up this sonofabitch. If you're alone, you're F*CKED.
I got this NM with a Composite rod and a Worm lure. I got it on my 2nd cast. The NM doesn't hit very hard, it hit my level 57 RDM for 80 hp a hit. But i knew from fighting other Uragnite family that these things have a high defence so I started casting warp, back to my homepoint in Jeuno :/
I decided to go on a fishing trip to Bibiki. Second time around I fish up this Uragnite with a funny name. "ho hum" and I get ready to kill it. *WHACK!* 150hp down. "OH ****!" *put up all possible defenses* *WHACK!* 95hp down. Meanwhile, I'm whacking away at this thing for 25hp a pop while it's NOT resting, 3~5hp when it is. About 20 seconds before the ship docks I have 150hp and it poisons. The boat docks, I rejoice, then quickly die from the poison. ><
So anyways, I managed to get back on the boat before I croaked, so I'm waiting for a friend to find an R2 right now, and ruing the day I decided on a fishing trip to Bibiki.
Right now, 55WAR/NIN, fully kitted out in the sexiest of sexy gear. I'd guess you'd need an alliance of 60+ to take this thing down, if not 2 full pts of 75s.
Me (was lvl 54 whm) and my friend (lvl 34 whm) were on the boat. He decides to fish. First thing he brings up is Harajnite. I wasn't thinking and figured it was a regular one so I began to fight it (also so it wouldn't kill my friend) and noticed after about a minute that my health was almost at half and he wasn't touched. Luckily, the boat ride ended when I had 54 hp and 9 mp left and my friend had drained his mp 4 times and was down to 2 mp. Good thing I didn't cure myself that last time or I would of died from the poison he left me with after the boat ride. I will never let him forget that either as he has found out and I never let him fish when we are somewhere other then a town now.^^;
Just fished up Harajnite. Our PT of 6 got it to 1/2 health before the boat ride ended. Its about 4 times harder than Cyclopean Conch. Recomended an alliance of 12-15 to kill it most likely. Its a very tough mob.
Oh BTW; The poison is aoe, but not that large of a radius. You can escape it easily if you stand away from the mob. Poison is nasty though at 25 hp a tick.
Yes, this was a very tough mob, Everything we did to it did probably half the dmg it normally would to the Cycloptean Conch, and this thing has a lot of HP. But this mob can be fished up at anytime on the boat ride, not just at the one place where you get the conch.
