Vana'diel Bestiary: Bugbear Strongman  

I guess the subject says it all. Sold the haidate for 350k in 1 minute on Fairy.

He also pops @ I-11, unfortunately i attacked him with half HP, after fighting a normal bugbear, and died ; ;

I just soloed this guy as a 55rdm/blm. I was in mining gear and killing a few Bugbear Bondsmen trying to get a chest key. Took me 45 minutes to kill this guy because I was using the sleep/nuke strategy. It was so funny, I had 3 high lvls watching me and waiting for me to die. I killed him after a disgustingly long battle, and got the mnk armor. The high lvls were mad and I now feel like a God, even if others have soloed him with a MUCH easier time at it =)

I camped this NM for an hour at least when it poped it was a very easy fight even for my 57rdm/22thf, i didnt even havto use 2 hour i would say it is a lvl 52 NM no drop the first time second time i got the pants. :) good luck.

Okay... so im confsued... I look at the picture an they are by a windmill looking thingger... but that's @ j-10, an it says he's @ j-11, there is 2 bugbears that spawn beside eachother @ j-11... but I cant find any of them @ j-10

took the little fella 2 times last night with my 60thf/30nin,

was soo psyched, an nm spawn where I actually found myself alone for the first time, killed placeholders for like an hour, then there he was!
got on him without beeing certain if I could do this, or what the eventual drop was worth. I came out victorious. /joy.
Aikido ******* dropped.

then I actually got it again not too much later.

It is possible for this NM to drop both pairs of pants, as he did the first time I killed him (with TH2).

Solod as 72 BLM/WHM

Didn't know what lvl he was so I Slept Nuked Slept Nuked and so on ^^ was easy fight tho
I aggrod him while Mining ... so yah I wanted my revenge after I zoned. Buffed up and stuff went back and Engaged him

Droped the Mnk Slacks for me

Though I have been frusterated with how long it can take for this guy to pop, I Just wanted to add that I managed to pop this NM twice on opposite sides within 15-20 minutes of each other. I think the spawn pattern is similar to Enkylados in Delkfuts. So far, the Shinumusha Haidate have dropped for me once in about 30+ kills. I have gotten a lot of the Aikido ******* though..

This NM has very strange spawn times. I camped it for about 5 hours, it never popped once. Then i got bored and went searching for the Treasure Chest, when i came back after about 15 mins, a Taru was fighting him(@J-11)... needless to say I was pretty pissed off i had lost the NM. So the Taru left after he killed it and I started my watch timer because most NM's repop in ~2 hours, at least i knew the pop time now. Then, 14 mins after the NM death, the place holder popped over at I-11... but he was taller and bulkier then the the regular Bondman... hmm, strange. So, I walked closer and theres Strongman! I start fighting him, while thinking... nahh this must be a fake NM or something.. it was just killed 14 mins ago!?! After about 2 minute fight, I defeated it and it dropped Shinimusha Haidate.

After that, i waited for the next placeholder pop, Strongman didnt appear this time though. So i left and put my spanky new pants in storage for my SAM im leveling. Suffice to say, very strange pop times, I beleive it is a random pop with no timer associated with it.

He doesnt hit hard at all, he just has a LOT of HP. It took me about 6-8 minutes to kill him, mostly doing melee attacks and nuking with Drain.

I got 21 exp, so I'd say he's roughly level 50.

Bugbear Strongman can spawn at both tunnel entrances but I suspect it shares or has another set of placeholders as Matsu said, I have waited around 6 hours for him to spawn at times. The drop rate is insanely rare in my experience (Treasure Hunter 1)..
