General InformationLottery spawn of the Damselflies that spawn from (D-8) through (F-8) in Valkurm Dunes PH Info from SmokesalotThe PH is the mob the prevents the NM from spawning until it is killed. In the case of the Valkurm Emperor, it is one of the Damselflies that roams about Whitesands beach in Valkurm Dunes. What a kagillion people refuse to take into their minds is that VE has ONE placeholder, and that's it. Go to the beach with Widescan ability, and position yourself at the peak of the sandhill just northwest of the pack of trees in the middle of the beach. Pull up WS, and you'll see something like this. Damselfly Goblin Mugger Goblin Leecher Goblin Gambler Sniper Sniper Sniper Sniper Damselfly<~~~~~PH!!! This is a truncated list, but as you can see the PH is located in the set of four Damselflies between the leeches and the snipers, and is always the top one. These flies are always grouped in four, and are always located between the snipers and the thread leeches. When VE pops your list will look like this... Sniper Sniper Sniper Damselfly Damselfly Damselfly Valkurm Emperor Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech VE always pops on the bottom of the list. If there aren't four flies in the list, that means someone else is killing them. Either nearby parties, or other campers. If this is happening, you have to figure out a way to nab yourself the PH, and be 100% sure that the fly you kill is the PH. After that, go ahead and let the other campers waste their time killing the other flies. Valkurm Emperor Special Attacks

bah, this used to be a good NM in Unicorn since there wasnt too many GS camping him, but its been some weeks since 3 or 4 stupid ppl started to monopolize this NM, I need the drop to use it but now its impossible to claim, these ppl have about 85% of the sell historial, now I dont want to buy this **** from them. I hate u GS...

maybe try watching the gilsellers . . and the fact that they flee early . . hmm maybe has some thing to do with widescan . . AHH!! they all flee to one damselfly!! HMMMM LEMME THINK!!! u big stupid ***

this NM is EASIEST thing in the wordl to claim!! i been camping for a week and gotten almost 20 claims and 9 drops so far! sheesh people!

u could if you had decent armor capped marksmanship, rng sub , bloody bolts and sleep bolts and some holy bolts for dmg. . . maybe to be sure have perfect dodge ready!

GM's don't do **** mate it's pointless even calling them they are only there for the interest of vialations of the user agreement so don't even try calling them :)

I camped this thing for almost 7 hours with no spawn, Gil sellers on Pandy dominate this thing.

Im 2/2 on the VE, Im going to get him down again in this week, not for sell but to use it, I need it for my 3 favorite jobs: THF, NIN and RNG, jeje, wish me luck :D
If you get the claim and you don't have TH, ask a thief around if you can borrow his TH for a sec in helping you get the drop. Be sure you are the one that invites him just in case. >.<

Was sitting there, with 50 PLD/RNG waiting for this guy to pop. I've been standing there for about 2 hours. Needless to say, I was bored. Its night time and the Bogy's are around, time to build TP.
I pull a Bogy, start fighting it and guess what? This focker pops right in the middle of me and the bogy. I try to disengage the Bogy and cast Flash on the sucker only to have a gilseller voke it from right under me.
I quit FFXI for 2 months after that.

Wouldn't it have been quicker to just switch target if he was inbetween you and the bogy?

Today for 2 hrs ago Me(WAR/THF), Ailish THF/RNG(My friend she will be Ail in this story) and Duydreadlord DRK/WAR(My friend to. He will be duy in this story) Camped this guy. Duy said i should stay on one spot and look on two spots there it should spawn. Same thing did he say to Ail. So we waited and after 15mins it pops in front of me! I taught it was a normal Damselfly so I voked it. And then i realized it was VE... In the party menu I wrote: I GOT HIM I GOT HIM!!! Duy runned to me but he didnt attack. He said that if he kill him the TH effect shouldnt work... So now it was me and VE :) Ail taught I joked but when Duy said I had it she used flee and attacked it. I used Armor break in the beginin cuz I had 100+ TP then I used Shield Break and Ail used Sneak Attack. After some secs he used Cursed Sphere.... Now I was down at 350 hp cuz I tanked. Then when I finally got TP enough I used Iron Tempest (If u wonder why I didnt use Sturmwind it was cuz he is based on wind) Then Ail used Piercing Arrow and now it was on low HP. Then I killed it :) And like this it was:

We used many /em like /dance /cheer etc etc
Man that was a fun battle :) I hope it sells =D (He also used Venom and after the battle I had around 200hp)

I've been trying to get this fokker for 6 months. You can spawn it by killing all the flies in Whitebone. I usually grab all the flies and then kill then near it's preffered pop zone, right near the trees in the middle, that way I can see it pop near the beach or the trees. I spawned it 6 times one day, and the same **** juggling thundercunt gets it all 6 times.

Once you hit 50 you realize that there are lots of pretty items that you want. For most of us, we have to farm to make the gil. After about 3 hours of tree cuttings....got about 8 of em, i decided to go see if i cuold even see this NM. I get to dunes spawn area and go to the clump of trees, just south of it. As a voke NM camper i didn't think i had much chance to begin with, but i had been up for about 30 hours already so what the hell. There were at least 5 other people camping this thing, rangers, thiefs, a dark, me. I just wanted to see if i could watch the fight lol. Well lucky me, after about 20 minutes of waiting, a fly pops..just out of voke range. It popped over two leaches, so my dumbass on ps2 tryed to target it to see its name. Valkrum Emperor..oh its just anoth....OMFGWTFBBQGRASS!!11!1!!
I run towards it, spamming voke as i go, had 15 voke macros on my screen from me trying to get it.
Of course, a japanese thief appears out of thin air as they usually do and valk turns up already claimed. She gets drop and equips it. I cry. Story of my life.

with VE Shiva is full of Gilsellers or people who just love to have millions of millions of Gil and not use it.
I camped VE with my 50 WHM / Ranger for 3 weeks straight. I claimed 1 out of about 50 or 60 pops. It was my worst FFXI experience ever. Without Flee this is near impossible to get. Dont pray that it will pop in front of you because it wont. The Pop radius is massive. It can pop anywhere and u will be too slow to claim him if your not a thief.
Thief isnt necissary but Ranger sure is. I've seen warriors and dark knights camp it without ranger and i ask myself why.. the chance of it poping in front of u is lower than 2%

Just a quick note, and to save people alot of misery. The quickest ive seen VE pop is 1h 30 minutes. the Longest 5h 30 minutes. If decide on camping VE and happen to see nobody else camping it, dont jump to conclusions and say omg wow nows my chance. In most cases it has just poped, and everyone has logged off to come back in another 1 hour and 10-20 minutes. I suggest you do the same..
The more people camping it, then you KNOW it is going to pop soon. With few, dont bother log off or do something else for 30 minutes and check back to see if theres more people camping it..

come on Neb it aint that hard to claim VE on shiva. you are right about gilsellers though have a thf just bring gobs or ghouls to them and hide. the gillsellers right now on shiva are all low enuff to aggro them and when a bogy pops on them its pure joy lol

[b][/b] If you're a mage using RNG sub to camp NMs your best bet would be to buy some Powder Boots. I am a RDM59/BLM32 and I often use my gimped RNG to sub for camping NMs. So with widescan AND Powder Boots (Flee) I feel like I have much more of a chance to claim this VE. I am now 1/13. I usually only stay for about 3-4 hours, and if I dont get the claims due to gilsellers, I'll just try back later. Quetzalcoatl is not as bad as I hear some other servers when it comes to gilsellers because I have camped VE and no one has been there. Good Luck! Hope this info helps!

ok, so for awhile i'd been hearing about Gilsellers on Titan server camping out the Valkurm Emperor 24/7, so i decided to take a look at it for myself, sure enough this conspiracy lives up. people have reported this guy yet SE does nothing, for anyone on Titan server, i want others to help me take this guy down. character's name is Broz and he just stands at the same two palm trees, leading some sort of party cause he's always in Leader colors under search. ok.. so i'm standing there for about 3 hours last night, finally Valkurm Emperor is spotted, but some mithra took him out, as soon as she did, she ran off into one direction, and so does Broz, gets a blm to Warp II him to Bastok.. ok, so practically i'm keeping track of his where abouts, i wanna bring this guy down. if anyone is interested on Titan send me a /tell. pretty gay that some crack head has nothing else better to do than do this all day/night long... as soon as he sells it, he heads straight back to the dunes. all i want is one hard earned stinking EMPEROR HAIRPIN, and i'm not gonna stoop to buying gil, which surely was conjured up by this punk, and by his stupid hair pin... seriously, it makes me ill....ruins the fun for everyone.

Well, this was a funny trip. I'm passing through Valkurm Dunes and figured I'll camp Emperor for like one pop and try to get him. I was 36 WHM/BLM at the time but I figured I would be fine. Well, I had this funny feeling that he was gonna pop in this one spot, so I just stared there. I obviously had no idea, it was just a feeling. I don't know why but i just stayed there. Staring, staring, at one spot. Ding, Emp pops right there, wow wierd huh. Well, I saw a RNG going after him already so i figured I had no chance. Then, the RNG pulls out his bow (lol, I thought it was kind of funny). Well, anyways, my Dia was quicker and I claimed him, YAY. Next thing I know, bang, he hits hard on my Taru 36 WHM, especially the fact I didn't have Stoneskin up (it would have been much easier). He was pelting me with attacks while I try to time spells right to get in. Next thing i know he has about 1/3 life left and i go to Weapon Skill(didnt have a macro for it for some stupid reason). Well I forgot to click again when the arrow goes above his head, so Im stuck having no idea why the menu isnt back up. Lol, this was disastrous, yet at very low HP, I just click Esc wat felt like 100 times, which took me back to menu and with 9 HP left I use Benediction. Wow that was close. Then I get a Banish II off and finish him with my WS. One of the craziest battles I have ever fought.
Now for all that work, u would think I could at least get the pin(lol). Too bad the Emp didnt think so though and I got a freakin insect wing. ; ; Wow that sucked, but it was a really fun fight and was a cool story to be able to tell. Also, it felt good to have fought him for the first time. Hopefully better luck next time :)
