General InformationLottery spawn of the Damselflies that spawn from (D-8) through (F-8) in Valkurm Dunes PH Info from SmokesalotThe PH is the mob the prevents the NM from spawning until it is killed. In the case of the Valkurm Emperor, it is one of the Damselflies that roams about Whitesands beach in Valkurm Dunes. What a kagillion people refuse to take into their minds is that VE has ONE placeholder, and that's it. Go to the beach with Widescan ability, and position yourself at the peak of the sandhill just northwest of the pack of trees in the middle of the beach. This is a truncated list, but as you can see the PH is located in the set of four Damselflies between the leeches and the snipers, and is always the top one. These flies are always grouped in four, and are always located between the snipers and the thread leeches. When VE pops your list will look like this... Sniper Sniper Sniper Damselfly Damselfly Damselfly Valkurm Emperor Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech VE always pops on the bottom of the list. If there aren't four flies in the list, that means someone else is killing them. Either nearby parties, or other campers. If this is happening, you have to figure out a way to nab yourself the PH, and be 100% sure that the fly you kill is the PH. After that, go ahead and let the other campers waste their time killing the other flies. Valkurm Emperor Special Attacks

I strongly recomend having TH2 for this. To me its not worth spending all that time if i havent done evrything i can do to get the drop (aside from the TH +1 gear). Its a long wait and i would hate to think after sitting there for hours upon hours and then finally getting the fight with no drop that i could have had it if i had taken the time to level THF. To each his own but i think its a waste of time (see my record w/ TH2 1/5). I think VE LL and other big drops are made for THF to get and dont add up without TH2. Geez they dont add up with TH2 haha. i spent 4 days camping to get a 240k drop i could have made that much crafting for 4 days straight and crafting is a sure thing. Anyways just my thoughts. This NM is way overcamped because of tons of ppl who have a very slim chance of getting the drop even if they find VE.

i camped VE today early sunday, only other person was a AF whm so to make sure everyone was happy we make a PT. 2 and a half hours later more people are there and the whm yells that the thf/rng hit flee. he didnt get the VE cuz it was right infront of me, needless to say we got the drop. pocketed 140k and alot of pride.

i hear it spawns all over dunes is that true? i camp out at e-8 and i haven't seen it yet if anyone knows please help

I remember killing this thing with some other people around 30blm/11whm....
I was with a 40rng friend who i was helping getting carbuncle ruby at the moment, a 19thf and a 23 war. So i was running around by the emporer spawn point killing off leeches very slowly with the 19 thf...while the 40rng and the 23 war were talking about the valkurm emporer. I had no idea wat it was at first. Then all the sudden i was being yelled at to get over to where they were now! So me and the thf race over and the emporer was there and im like wtf is that?! They r like its a NM!!! So we all engaged it...rng being the tank -.- and i being the healer...after lots of AOE from this guy we all managed to somehow survive with almost no hp left. Then the ranger is all happy cuz shes like IT DROPPED THE HAIRPIN!! All in all we split the money we got off the pin...which was 60k each -.-

A few friends in my ls and I are planning on nailing a few hairpins for each of us, what are the chances of a Sam40, Thf40, and Thf38 bringing this guy down?

You'll have a better chance of getting VE and also a good chance of getting the drop

I have killed the Emporer twenty times, and he has never dropped a wind crystal. Makes you think!?

thanks for reading this. If i'm wearing the emp hairpin while hunting for the valkrum emperor, will the valk emp spawn? In my experience V. Emp didnt spawn when i tried to hunt for it. V. And last night some1 was wearing the V.Emp while hunting it for his friend and it didnt spawn. I was told by my LS that it will not spawn with some1 wearing it while hunting the NM.

So i finally have my VE THF merit badge! =^.^=
and it only took me 4 days of camping everyday after work. I would get off work and sit down and wait til the first spawn. after that it seemed to pop generally between 0-45 minutes after the 2 hour mark. however it did spawn at one point about 1 hour and 45 minutes after the last spawn. in between spawns i helped out many rookies getting there sub job items which was fun and nice of me :D. at one point camping i had my own little army helping me while at nights i searched for there skull. i thought this was a nice co-op. in the end i got it solo though. i only was able to catch it 2 times all week except last night i got every single pop except one when i was afk in the shower! :) someone accused me of using a bot and called a GM on me. i took this as a compliment and didnt worry since the GM would see im on a PS2 so no bot. in the end i have a 1/5 record which i find annoying since i have TH2. i will chalk it up to bad luck. anyways i have my pin! now i can go back to leveling :)

im on the bamuhmut server and i have camped this thing bout 9-10 times. i have used my 46 monk and my 50 rdm to try and get this NM. there is 1 guy on my server who this is his whole life. you wont see him n e were else besides hunting this thing. there is a rumor that he is a bot. well 9 outta 10 times me huntin this NM he has got it. its like he knows when and were it spawns basically those 9 times he will be in a different location and the NM will spawn like right next to him. and it doesnt help he has strider boots but the one time the NM spawned by me i was in the middle of castin paralyze with my rdm when a lvl 19 war provoked the mob and pulled it to his camp and called for help.if ur a lvl 20 or lower to not pull this mob to ur camp. or call for help that is even worst. well sooner or later i will beat this bot name Songokou to get this hair pin.

Bots are no good for camping the VE. In Fenrir, he spawns all over white bone. So to be defeated by a bot when pulling the emp... you might want to pick a new nm to camp.

Yes Sephire, you can take hit at 45, you can take him at 40 if you a) have hi potions or b)have a mage friend to heal you. also make sure you have antidote potions and your 2hr. at 45 you shouldn't need any of the above.
Does anyone feel bad about making money off of NM? I mean, what if I really want a pin, and I can't get one because everyone is selling it for dough? Maybe no one else cares. But for examble if I want Ochindo's Kote I'll never get it with the 75 mnks camping it and spamming chi blast.

This has probably been posted before....but can a lvl 30 BST defeat him? In a normal senerio I can take a Even Match or Tough easy but there are no good pets here so i would need to rely on jugs....
yeah i just got a drop w/ a lvl 51 smn. i'm only 25RNG so i'd get owned. it spawns like 1-2 hours. The price is up to 400k on my server (Fenrir) in jeuno so i made a nice profit.
Im L40 thief and getting closer to TH2 every day. As soon as i hit 45, im off to camp all the NMs and get these drops that i should have gotten 20 levels ago. My question is, as a 45 THF do you think i could solo it? I know that its only around level 30, but thf sucks when it comes to solo. Im pretty sure i could take it but i want to be sure, what do you all think?
yes, you can take him at i would say 35 thf minimum if you use pdodge. lvl 40+ you can take him easily.

sorry, that was supposed to be "would not" suggest a lvl 35 to fight the emp. unless you are a rng of course.

I would suggest a 35 thf to fight the emp. you cant dodge poison or his sphere. Poison alone would kill a lvl 30. And please keep in mind he will use aga spells. areaga hit me for 170 at lvl38 rdm. Can't dodge magic.
me {lvl 32 WAr} and LS member{34RDM} decided to do a lil NM hunting y-erday......we decided on the "emporer" and the "Golden Bat"....We camped and wiped out the (place holder) flies along w\ 3 other campers for about 1\2 an hr...to no avail. so we went to camp the bat for a while....w\ no luk there either...so we decided to complete a fe Supply quests...by this time all the original campers were gone.....we needed to rest some hp\mp so we rested.....and ..NO $H&*.. the emporer poped up about 2 mins l8er..and my heart dropped...we werent at full stats yet buit there were a couple pt's lvl'ing up on the flies...i provod him quik and engaged while surfdragon rested hi MP...by the time surf engaged he was about 1\3 done....we smoked him, got the drop, split it 50\50, sold in about 2 hrs in Windurst for 250,000 on seraph server....
killed him with two guys from my linkshell
he spawned twice in the 4 hours we were there of course Songoku toom him the first time
we got the drop though!

Yeah, Songokou has VE camped up the wazoo on Bahamut. He has, like, five out of ten sales in the Price History of the Bastok's AH.

I killed the Valkrum Emperor the other day as 37 WHM/18 BLM.
I was going to kill a Bogy just to save a few people from dying. Anyway I had just finished casting Blink, Stoneskin and Aquaveil when inbetween me and a THF, the NM spawned. I panicked, and knowing I would probably die I decided to cast Dia on it. After a long shift of hitting each other I was about dead, so I used Divine Seal & Cure 3. Pretty much same happened over again until I was forced to use Benediction.
Now the VE was at about 3mm of HP, and I was fully healed, but it took me to red before I finished it.
It only dropped a Wind Crystal and an Insect Wing, and everyone was stood around me (obviously angry).

Second time camping the emporer, kinda boring so i wasnt really spamming my widescan. Plus there was some lvl 28 guy there spamming a shout for someone to trade his leapin boots for their pin, Very annoying.Though i missed the first pop I decide to stick around for another hour or so even tho my partner left, BAM pops way over to the right again, catch up and lone behold the spammer got it. but wait, shes even with it, might lose, does her two hour (perfect dodge) and drops with emps health at about 1%,I spam shadow bind and got it, first time ever fighting this guy and one shot later i got my pin, and no i wont be trading it.

the least amount of time i have seen between spawns was 58min. the most, almost 6 hours.

on Garuda there are lvl 70+ thf camping this thing all the damn time, now being lvl 70 i hope u could kill things a little higher the 30, THFS **** me off too, just thought i'd tell u how i feel about thfs

I've Seen munchkin around and i've been bumping into him he's on ifrit unless thats another munchkin on some other server...

I've camped this thing when I'm bored, and have gotten the drop. It should be noted that he often spawns way west of the circle on the map.
