Tried to get it for another couple days and actually fought it and beat it (even though i said i was gonna give up last post). Yes, that's right i beat it with 30 rng/15 nin for those of you who are wondering.
Plus your not up to your neck in *** parties with flee now were you? >.<
Btw i have gotten Lizzy boots and Rabbit charm before so i am somewhat experienced at NM hunting.

In the case of the Valkurm Emperor, it is one of the Damselflies that roams about Whitesands beach in Valkurm Dunes. What a kagillion people refuse to take into their minds is that VE has ONE placeholder, and that's it. Go to the beach with Widescan ability, and position yourself at the peak of the sandhill just northwest of the pack of trees in the middle of the beach. This is a truncated list, but as you can see the PH is located in the set of four Damselflies between the leeches and the snipers, and is always the top one. These flies are always grouped in four, and are always located between the snipers and the thread leeches. When VE pops your list will look like this... Sniper Sniper Sniper Damselfly Damselfly Damselfly Valkurm Emperor Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech Thread Leech VE always pops on the bottom of the list. If there aren't four flies in the list, that means someone else is killing them. Either nearby parties, or other campers. If this is happening, you have to figure out a way to nab yourself the PH, and be 100% sure that the fly you kill is the PH. Actually i've beat many ***. parties, the trick is to Widescan faster than most, and pinpoint it FAST. But yea i feel your pain, I still dread hearing that damned Flee. But u have to be super quick, a major **** off is when u widescan it and see that its just infront of you, errrrrrrrr i hate that!!

I laugh at people that say "u need a thf". well, u see, my camping partner and I seem to have no trouble at this..... 2 weeks of camping... NOT nonstop. We tagged the Emp. about 15 times.. and in those 15 times we managed to get 4 Hairpins...

I was camping the fly for about 3 days straight saw it 4 times, but always caught it just as it died to hear the cries of joy. You really need a 35+ theif if you wanna get this quickly.
I was at the usual tree camping spot then suddenly 2 theives use flee and i know something is up. Of course by the time i get to the fly it's dead. Go kill the newbie NM's instead of this guy if you don't have a high level theif.

Be aware from that player , I was camping in valkurm dunes for the emperor , to of my friend came there and they wanted to help then this thief came and he wanted to join us so I seed its ok am level 47 and he is 24 so I wanted to help him , we all agreed that no one lot for the drop and I will lot alone and sell it and we all split it.
Then I found it the first time killed it with them , he can do no damage to it he is just level 24 and no drop , second time I fount it again we killed it dropped I told them not to lot and I lot for it but this thief he lots and got it he disband and ran to sandy we ran after him but he didn’t want to give it back we spent hours talking to him and every one in sandy talked to him but he won’t give it back , so take care from him .

u have to be careful of inviting strangers who want to help u camp. if it was all agreed upon that u would lot only then u should have just set the quartermaster to urself, that way it guarentees u get it, and no onewould have a problem. if they did then u know someone would have swopped it off u like that thf did.

For future reference, if your the party leader even after people lot you can assign treasure to quartermanster, and it will go to the qwuartermaster. I don't want to see any more sob stories of how somone got jacked from now on its your own stupidity.
In this case, however, if the friend passed, the poster Lotted thinking that the stranger would Lot, and THEN the stranger Lotted out-of-the-blue, the party leader wouldn't have been able to change to Quartermaster since the stranger would've gotten the drop immediately. ^^

So i wanted a new headgear and thought of getting this hairpin, then found out how much it was going for (220k on fairy) and decided to camp it instead. So i am running around and stop cause i see a lvl 40 rng and a lvl 50 drk running right behind him so i thought why not so i follow. they stop and the rng is helling at the drk for following him, and the drk gets bored and attacks a snipper with just my luck the emperor spawns and i provoked before the rng or the drk could react and i was in a 3 person party so we split the hairpin instead of trying to be greedy and lot it and get nothing or all. But hey i don't think wearing the hairpin would be worth it cause then there is no real point to my bomb ring i got from the bomb king. and that is my story and i got a screen shot too :)
the NM comes after dinner usually. But give him time to rest he doesnt like coming out on a full stomach...

Yea ok... So I was camping the fly on Bismarck server for 3-4 hours, got pretty pissed... The guy camping next to me was waiting for 7 hours and he finally got fed up and started to log. Right then the Emperor pops and I grabbed it.. It was funny cuz the guy went crazy.. *laugh* but in the end I didn't get the drop. Then he *laugh*... ***** THIS FLY

In my server, there are two people that I always see camping VE. When i look up emperor hairpin in the price history of the auction, I see the guys name 6 times in one day. I thought u cant hold more then one rare at the same time....
May have sold 6 in the same day, doesn't mean they got the drops in the same day.

u can only have 1 on you or in safe, but u can put them in AH and still get another one

okay people all here is my story for VE. I have killed the thing twice once in pt of two at lvl 35thf/rng(me)and a 30war/rng and other by myslef both times i nearly died (thank god for thief 2hr). the first time with the war i subed ranger but i didnt need it i found the thing before anyone else any ways. the war died in the fight and i was left alone and like normalthe thing poisons me right at the end of the so i nearly die got drop that time. the second time was awful i was a lvl 41/10 thf/nin and i was camping because i know that spawn area pretty well and i was taking a break from running around the spawn zone when the thing spawns right in front of my so like anyone i grab it, but i could not get in sneak attack *sigh* that really hurts anyways i killed it got me down to 60 hp and i used a cheifkabob and my 2 hr got drop that time. all i got to say is camping as thief is not really that great without sneak just too easy to die

I never was into the NM hunting being a WAR in all, I did try once with a LS buddy of mine to go after the PIN after i heard about the big payoff you get from getting it. But after staying in the desert just running around like a lost puppy, getting sand in my eyes, and getting all sweaty (including the time wasted) i've decided to ***** it and keep going about my buisness, but after being broke, and just hunting Silk threads all the time..LOL i think it's time for me to go try hunting these NM asses..

The mass amounts of gil that u need in this game (especially as a magic user) require that u camp NMs for drops or something that ppl aren't gonna like. intending to wear an item doesn't give u ne more entitlement to it than ne1 else. if u want it go to the AH and buy it.

actually, if you want to get technical, you can have more than 1 at a time...they just have to be on auction house, or in your delivery box

well actually i have 2 Earth spirit pacts in my mailbox at the moment and one on my char... its a rare. Anyway you cant hold more than 1 at a time on you or in yr safe.

I've been camping NM's for about a week....with 6 Leaping Lizzy, 4 Jagged-Eared Jack, and 3 Bloodpool Vorax. My luck yeilded me NOTHING from all the kills I accumulated. I'm feeling like an idiot for wasting all that precious time on NM camping instead of leveling. For fun, I start helping new people with the Sub-Job Quest. In under an hour I have a group of 3 all the items. It seems to be the only thing I was lucky at. Well, after the last group left me...I had recently heard about the Valkurm Emperor. So, being the addicted NM camper...what did I do? Of course, I go camp the stupid thing. Well, I get to Whitebone, and a Dragoon named Pirotess and a Japanese Thief/Ranger are there. The Dragoon begins to ask me, "Why are you here? You're only 36, you couldn't possibly kill this thing anyways." I promptly reply, "Well...I'd rather try first. Nothing you say will make me leave ^^". She gets upset and says that she won't let me have it...saying a Dragoon would override a Thief of something. Well, about 10 minutes pass, and guess what...it spawns....however the Japanese is right on it...but...instead of using Steal....he tries to use his dagger. I, immediately use Steal and "Steal" it from him. The fight was long...and very ferocious. However, in the end, I prevailed. With my newfound treasure <it dropped>, I talk to the Dragoon, and say...well...that was unexpected...wasn't it? Then she goes on saying like I don't know what it's like to have camped an NM and have it stolen....-_- Well, being a nice guy...I offer to help her find one as well. We stay for another hour...and low and behold...another spawns. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. I "steal" it from that Japanese Theif again. It drops, and the Dragoon offers to let me in her Linkshell for showing my Chivalry. There you go, a happy ending ^^
