I started to camp this guy about two days ago. I only defeated it three times, and I believe that this thing spawns once every three hours.

I've been camping this guy five months ago, got the robe on the fourth drop (for my own use). Very easy battle for MNK 32, also saw a PLD 25 winning easily. If there weren't so many Orcs that could aggro I'm sure even a WHM 20 could do it.
i stumbled on this guy when i was mining, wasnt even camping him or new about him even anyway saw him thought "cool an nm" rushed over claimed him and got the robe, didnt even have thief subbed, i also got 3 gold ores like 1 after the other after i got there, was really lucky i guess!

I love and hate this guy. He pops every hour and people rarely camp him. On Kujata Priest's Robe~100k, Hermit Wand~12k. I'm about 1/20 something with the robe (hate you) but I'm 20/20 with the wand (love). It's easy farming. 1. Kill 2. AFK for 45-60 minutes 3. Wait for pop. Rinse and repeat.

Went into the Grotto w/25 pld subbed war (of course). Thf sub at that level makes no sense or difference. Saw him there, nobody around at all (big smile). So I took him on. Along w/ neckchopper, stonechucker and grunt (damn aggroes and links). The Ashmaker just kept nuking me (like a noob blm in the dunes does). He went down fairly easy, along with the others, of course. Pallys ROCK. Only dropped the wand *boohoo*. The wand was selling, at the time, in Sandy for about 9k, on Fenrir.

this guy was cake. pops every hour. boost and combo take him out. 2/2 wand 0/2 robe. ill keep on trucking. fenrir server robe = 70k wand =10k.

I am a lvl 30thf/11war (yes i know i am gimped) and i smacked him around like he was a a rag doll with just mining gear on. I just happend to walk past and there were two people there wating for him and i saw him. They didn't do anything so i took him. I use bloody bolts when i solo of course and he barely took any damage off of me as it was. got the drop on the first try, unfortunately i stole it from someone but hey NM hunting is all about the claim. I am going to continue to get hm as i mine and level goldsmith and smith in the mines. it sells for about 70-100k on ifrit.

This is an awesome way to make money! I am 2/2 on the priests robe, and i've made around 8k from killing orcs and getting bat wings. I just long on every 45 minutes, kill stuff until the ashmaker arrives, and then log off for another 45 minutes. You can keep yourself busy by killing orcs and bats, if you kill everything there is about 2 minutes to rest before the first orc pops again. I love nabbing this guy, and then doing all my abilities before sturmwinding him to hell, its also great to laugh at the miners who thought they would get him (no offense to any of you miners) But I hate it when they run around thinking they own the place. The first time I got this, a pissed of miner spammed me with /slap, it was hilarious!

It's incredibly easy to get the robe if the job u r using is 16,17,18, or even 19. My WAR is 19 and I got robe 4/7 times I usually just use my 30DRK with thf subbed and i
ve only gotten robe 2/19.

This NM is always undercamped lol I'm the only one ever there ^^ I can pretty much cast Freeze and not worry about losing claim from another camper lol

I was only a 33 RDM/WHM when I camped him. He is undercamped about 2 months ago when the wand was only 7k and the robe was only like 30k on Remora. But in the past month the wand went from 7k to 10k and the robe to 90-100k. I've managed to camp him for nearly every other day and at least made the claim 3-4 times but got the wand every time. No robe yet but since the inflation at least 5 people camp him and since his spawn area is small and re-spawning is only about 2hrs, your chances are high and low.

in hades server the wand is 40k and the robe is 120k im so far 10/13 on robe and 3/13 on wand duh....easy nm i get it every time

way undercamped on Asura, 30-40k for wand, 70+ for robe
im 1/5 for the robe, every other HAS been the wand, i love this guy ^^

You will get either the robe or the wand. The wand isn't 100% because if you get a robe, you don't get a wand. If you get a wand, you don't get a robe. I'm currently 5/35 on him.

This guy is SO under camped on Lakshmi. I mine in the grotto, for gold and darksteel ore, thats what supplements my income for the moment, and 3 times, ive run by his spawn, and hes wandering around. So I grab him, and got a priest robe on the third one. So im now 90k richer when it sells. I love this game ^^.
He IS undercamped on Lakshmi, I saw him on widescan and ran to him thinking someone would get him, 2 minutes later I got there (running past some mining points -_-;; ) and I claimed him, got the wand. Back to mining now, I need gold!

You should be able to kill him at that level and avoid aggro from the Orcs there (I've taken people to get keys who were 24-25 and they didn't get aggro from the Orcs around where Ashmaker spawns), but the Orcs can and will link while you fight Ashmaker so be wary.
I've camped Ashmaker a lot in my day. I believe I'm 0/13 or so on the robe, usually as a Paladin/Warrior at 51+. Needless to say he's very easy for me. He does use Manafont, or so it says in the chat log, but it basically means he'll start ripping out a bunch of spells. From my experience the wand is a 100% drop, or very close to that as I'm 100% on it. Still no robe, though. However, along with bat wings and Orc gil/items dropped, I've made quite a profit in between camping him. Add mining and the Ghelsba key holders and chest which nets about 1k, and the Grotto is a nice place to make gil.
On Shiva, the Wand is 5k, and the robe is about 90k last I checked. 13 x 5k = 65k just off wands, not including 4.5k bat wing stacks and gil from Orcs and the items they drop like the leather armor set pieces.
Spawn time is roughly an hour to two at the most. I'm not sure if his placeholder is the single Neckchopper, so I kill all four orcs that spawn in that area circled on the map at G9/H9, which is usually a Neckchopper, one or two Grunts, or one or two Stonechuckers.
On Shiva he is not heavily camped at all besides the occassional miner just passing by to check. I never had any real competition.

Also, to clear something up, I think it is Manafont, not Chainspell. I fought him two more times last night, and here's my experiences all refreshed. First, it does say Manafont when the ability kicks in. Chainspell is 0 casting time, right? Or recasting? Either way, it's not Chainspell, and here's why:
He still has a casting time on his magic. It's not like every spell becomes like Dia in casting time, he still sits back and casts for a few seconds. Maybe you're confused because he casts tier I, basic Black Magic like Blind, Bind, Bio, etc, which have pretty low casting times already.
Second, his recast is not zero because he does not cast the same spell twice in a row. He'll go from Bio to Blind to Poison to Bind to Blizzard, etc, but not Blizzard to Blizzard, etc.

Okay, I camped this guy now for 3 hours, got him every time...2 times I got him with warrior sub, and only got Hermits Wand 2 times.

So, at the time i was camping this NM i was BLM40/WHM20 (needed the robe before i lvled whm again ; ;).... Plus its very easy claiming with stun, 0.5 sec cast time!!!!
Waited in the little room, stood right on top of a little bit of a hill thingie panning my camera round all the time looking for this guy to spawn. Sure enough 10 mins later, there he is (at the time 2 other ppl camping too, War 25 no sub and a 36whm/13blm) whm starts casting dia, war runs in for the voke but because im a bit higher up, my stun had more range =)
Got the claim and proceed to kill it, wasnt really prepared ; ; only knew it dropped the Priests Robe!! that was enough for me to camp it!!
Fire II into Stoneaga II (which sucks) and that got it nearly dead, then the f***er used Manafont, so i just beat it to death with my club!!
Only got the Hermit`s wand ; ;
Really wanted the robe now, so i stayed around waiting for the next spawn, sure enough EXACTLY 1hr later, give or take a few minutes it spawned again. This time no campers so i took my time, Stun claim --> Fire II --> Silence (making Manafont do jack ****) --> Thundaga and it died.
STILL only a Hermit`s wand! >.<
Basically im 1/9 on this, and its very annoying now that ppl camp it more often!!

Bumped into god ol' Gotblut while I was trying out Mining, saw he checked as "Impossible to Gauge" and decided I could prob beat him. I whooped his @$$ and got a Priest's Robe. I thought "If i ever lvl my WHM again, I could use this."
The next day I sold it. Along with 3 other Hermit's Wands. w00t.
This is very undercamped, and I have become to love Yughott Grotto for the mining and NM {combo}.
