Stegotaur Picture

Special attack: Mortal Ray. This attack is a 10 second Doom. There is some chance that holy water can prevent death. But this is a very slim chance. You can avoid this attack by turning around.

Just a note that Sleep/Sleepga will almost certainly NOT land on the formors, but ES Sleepga has in my experience as blm/rdm.

We had a party of 4 last night. NIN/WAR, WAR/THF, RNG/NIN, WHM/BLM and we OWNED this things.

They are probably level 43 since they conn IT in this area (capped at 40) and they were not so strong.

40=even, 41-tough, 42=vt, 43=it... if my understanding of this process is correct.

Ok, so I had a really bad experience here.
I got almost to the end of 2-3, im at the last hallway where you fight 2 of these to get past.
There was an emergency IRL, and i had to log off immediately.
Can I have Shiva Sleepga them and I run to the cutscene room to log off so I can finish the mission?
Can they be slept?
If not what would be a good tactic for a summoner to get past them and log off so I can log back on and finish the mission?

for Beastmasters who're actually brave enough to try and charm a slime this far out, if you use heel you can have the slime avoid mortal ray.

but you'd have to stand far enough back that it would turn around.

For those bst out there who are helping friends get their subligars, these CAN be killed pretty reliably. I have gotten a dozen subligars for people, and there are a few hallways in P.A. that have a patroling Steg, which you cannot sneak by. Since farming a sub. requires a bst duo, two jellies on a Steg will easily kill the Steg, with a Zeta on each jelly. (Just have to keep your finger on 'heel', for the mortal ray attack, the pets will turn around fast enough if you press the macro just as the Steg begins to charge). Generally, the fomor are alot easier then the Stegs to duo. The best piece of advice to any bst that are doing this for a friend: When you and your duo partner first sneak by the two tarus and get your gloops, make SURE they are the same level. Differnt level gloops will cause problems, since the higher lvl one will hold hate off the low level one, and cause it to take too much dmg at once. If one gloop gets too many crits in a row, and pulls too much hate, heel it and stay it next to the Steg, and let your partner's reclaim hate.

these mobs have true sight, so invis and sneak dont work you have to fight them. they are pretty easy, blink tanked it, uts up turn away and voke, ninja magic, voke, uts, ninja magic ext... Doom dosnt work if your not looking at it...

They have True Sight, but they don't detect by sound. Just walk past them when they turn around and save yourselves the trouble.

Sounds like a medusa-style special attack :) If turning around helps, Blind Potions might as well.
