This should be an easy fight for any good party they love terrify and have some nasty other attacks not so much as AOE's. A linkshell and I went to this area to farm the feathers worth about 700k killed about 100 of them not 1 drop only tailfeathers might want to add that to the list. Im not sure if the update changed the drop rate or they just dont drop from this creature anymore. My party was pretty mad. The tail feathers stack but can only be sold in bazaar's im guessing there used for crafting.
RDM solo?

I'd just like to point out that there is a differentce between a Hippogryph Feather and a Hippogryph Tailfeather. Tailfeathers are dropped off of the regular hippogryphs and cannot be AH'd (but can be bazaared). I believe they are used in a later CoP mission to help defeat the boss (kind of like anima helped defeat the boss). The Cloud Hippogryphs can drop Hippogryph Feathers (which in the description should read something about being from the head of the hippogryph) those can be AH'd and sell for a pretty penny on my server anyway. Hope that clarifies some things
cock meat what?

Yeah this is definitely not a cockatrice. It drops light crystals, hippogryph tailfeathers and supposedly the rare hippogryph feathers, although we've killed a whole slew of 'em and never seen one drop. These are IT+ to a lvl 40 (this area is capped at 40 btw) but are actually not difficult to fight and give great xp if you're really lvl 40 or under. If your job is higher than the cap outside the zone, your xp gets nerfed. Be warned, hippogryphs have a technique called Nihility Song or something that removes your food effects, so don't bother with food unless you can afford to lose it.

The Nihility Song doesn't just rid of food affects, it gets rid of any one random effect that you have cast on you. While fighting these Hippogryphs in a party last night, many time did it use this to get rid of my phalanx, refresh, protect II, blink, etc. Not sure if it gets rid of signet, although I don't think it would.

dude... regular Hippogryphs also drop the hippogryph feathers... our 2nd kill got us one...

But we were raiding the mission and all had full inventory with medicines and such; was our first time there... we were trying to see if anyone had an idea of what it was, and who should get it... it everntually droped as no one had room for it...

2 days later, a member from pt /tell me to look at AH for this item... saw we droped a 300,000 gils item ><

OMG! Thank you for putting my mind at ease. I went through this area for the first time and just ate a bowl of Navarin (3 hour food). By the time we were around these harder versions, I knew it was only an hour at most. When it used its special ability "Nihility [something]", I noticed that my food effect was gone!

I thought I was going cuckoo at first!
hmm

Hippogryphs, which I think only appear in the two Rivernes, have their own separate mob type. They're horse-like birds rather than two-legged brown ostriches.
