    MRs are weak to...

    I did some research about MRs (Memory Receptacles), and i found they have different elemental resistance depending on which promy you fight them. Is easy to find to what element they are strong only checking the color of the promyvion you're doing.

    Example: Promyvion-Dem is green (and MRs have the same color), and it means MRs here are Wind based. This works with other promys too.

    So, i discovered to what element are weak all the MRs...

    ·Promyvion-Dem MRs : Wind based, Weak to Ice, Resist Wind and Earth.

    ·Promyvion-Holla MRs: Ice based, Weak to Fire, Resist Ice and Wind.

    ·Promyvion-Mea MRs: Water based, Weak to Thunder, Resist Water and Fire.

    ·Promyvion-Vhzal MRs: Dark based, Weak to Light, Resist Dark. (i'm not sure about this one).

    With this knowledge, is easy kill those things without a +4 ppl party if you have a SMN with the avatars needed in your pt (with my NPC fellow i can solo MRs in the first floor as SMN using a Yagudo Drink without Astral Flow).

    Btw, this works too with Mage Boss in every promy, Dem NM is wind based, Holla NM is ice based and Mea NM is water based (in promyvion Vhzal you fight the other 3 promyvion NMs at the same time).

    I've always been doing things opposite of what is suggested here. As RNG/NIN (leveled just so I'd have an easy ticket into promy :D) I snipe out all of the strays right away. When it's clear, the tank runs up and vokes the MR. Everyone unload what they can, when a stray comes up, I have a special macro to use a ranged attack against a selectable target, so I just pick the stray out and get it away from the tanks. They go down really easily, and if I miss or they don't die with one bolt, Utsusemi backs me up more than I need. Even then a few stacks of bloody bolts on hand always does the trick. :P

    I was thinking about making a Trio Static Party.

    All Taru:
    Pld/War, Drk/Whm, Drk/Whm

    I figured the level-capped areas are perfect for making parties. It doesn't matter your level, you're all capped at 30 and you can level outside the static anytime you wish. (Yes I realize the skill caps will be really mercelous but we can move to a 40 capped area at 40 and 50 at 50. so it won't be too terrible).

    However, my plan rests on the ability for a trio party to get to the 2nd or 3rd level of the Promy to fight Low to High T mobs. Therefore, we're going to have to kill 1-2 Memory Recepticles to get there.

    You see my strife when I see that an aliance of people say it was difficult to take out one of these things, let alone a trio of Tarus. Do you think I'm foolharty, or is it possible for the party above to kill one of these things to make it to the next level?

    Could we perhaps kill it using a ranged attack method, like rangers, but using the Drks guns?

    You should be fine, this guy is really easy. Just grab all the minions around him, one person can take these easy. Then the other guy attacks, and one heals. Or if another party kills him, hurry up and teleport with them or else ull miss your chance. You only have a few seconds to teleport

    You should be ok getting past the Receptacles.. I was goofing around as Drg/rdm after farming recollections and solo'd the receptacle on the first floor. Just kill the strays around it before your start killing so you don't have too many attacking you.. too many can be a pain!

    Anyone who hasn't done a promy know that you WILL get hit by Empty Seed. It's easilly dealt with though as long as you stand where the knock back wont throw you into a Seether or something.

    The knock back effect from this is so cool. So cool in fact if you stand with your back facing the Memory Receptacle when you get hit by it, it looks like your character is in absolute and total pain.

    Also, if you can learn to time the casting of, say a cure spell while getting hit by ES. You wont get knocked back at all. Give it a try. peace out

    Did my first promy thing last night... ENM.

    Empty seed is really, really cool. o.o It makes them fun to fight.

    Good way for melee to fight this is brace yourself against the pillars nearby. Still take damage, but there's no delay in getting back to it.

    he means that BLM's go to where the furthest away u can to cast that spell..then when it readies empty seed..step back to avoid AoE

    If you're a black mage who is worried about getting knocked around by Empty Seed, it's not too difficult to avoid.

    The maximum range of Water II (your biggest non-AOE spell at level 30) is just within the MR's range for Empty Seed. After you cast, just back up a few steps until your spell is ready to cast again. Likewise, if you see the MR preparing Empty Seed, back up a few steps. After a couple of MR battles, you'll get a good feel for how the MR times its Empty Seed attack. It'll be easy to avoid most of the time.

    However, you won't avoid it all the time. Try to position yourself so that you are near one of the edges. Don't cast with your back to the other mobs! Empty Seed can easily knock you into aggro range of the Wanderers, Weepers, etc.

    It is possible for melees to fight the recepticles too. By putting your back against the colums that suround the MR you will still be in range after Empty Seed, though unless subbing nin the damage from it and the agro from stays dosnt realy seem worth it.

    First, zone to Lower Delkfutt's Tower. Then, zone to Upper Jeuno. Find the Infirmary there and talk to the doctor. You should get a key item: Mysterious Amulet. Head up to Ru'Lude Gardens palace. I think it's the Guard Post door... talk to the guards there for a cutscene. Finally, get a teleport to Holla, Mea, or Dem. Walk around and look for a Shaterred Telepoint somewhere at the crag. You should get in.

    All the MR battles are fought the same way, but the MRs become harder as you move up levels. Also the number of strays surrounding a MR will increase as you go up.

    The keys to fighting these as well as beating the promyvions is to have a good party setup and everyone doing their roles. I'd recommend RNG(Range attacks and Wide Scan to track MR), BLM(Magic DD), PLD/WAR/NIN(Provoke the Strays, Tank for final battle), DD class with WAR Sub(Provoke the Strays, DD), SMN(With WHM sub, Back-up healer, BLM sub, Extra DD. 2-hour for the NM, take mana refresh drinks) and WHM (Curing).

    During the MR battles, SMN run in and use Blood Pacts, then run out leaving the summons to fight. RNG and BLM range attack the MR while the Tank and DD provoke and fight the strays. WHM hangs back and cures their party, but be careful of other empties that may attack if you're too far away. These are stamina battles, you will come out of them low on HP and MP on the upper levels.

    One final word regarding strays. Do your best to clear them out before entering the MR, enter the MR as an alliance otherwise you may lose members. But remember, the memory stream is only open for about a minute and on the last MR you probably won't be able to get all the strays in time. When the MR is almost dead, co-ordinate if the RNG or BLM will help kill the strays while the other attacks the MR. But you're whole alliance might not make it through the last one. I have completed all three promyvions, my party setup was as I outlined except once and I only lost one NM battle in Mea. Hope this helps.

    before my sister deleted her old character and server jumped via worldpass, i watch her and her party take on these things, well her pt/alliance nearly got slaughtered on each one, man i may be only lvl20 but i'm not looking forward to these things, specially since they do some nasty damage, i'll never forget that battle as long as i live watching her do that just scared the crap outta me. man if anyone wants to know she was a lvl 72NIN/lvl33 THF heh dual weilding katanas if i remember corretly

    looked so cool the first time we fought these and all the melee went in to fight, and then it did the Empty Seed move and everyone got blew back 20 meters... runnin back into battle again (ugh)

    definitely leave these to RNG, SMN and BLM.

    Tried Holla last night, completely went down the drain, got up to the third floor, took one Memory out, and we were then faced with about 5 wanderers, and a thinker, Now none of these aggroed us, and we could of waited for a re-spawn, but the Idiot Leader (will remain /anon) decided we should run through the middle, yes we all got killed.

    So in some places its best to wait for a re-spawn.

    Was wondering what enfeeblment works on the mobs in here, heard that sleep doesnt.

    This is the mob that (usually) hides the memory streams which are used to transfer between the sub-levels in Promyvion.

    These suckers have a hard-hitting AOE with knockback. It's directionally based as opposed to radial, so if you stagger your party out, you'll receive less damage. If I remember right, the AOE did around 100-150 per hit.

    Generally speaking, if you're doing a Promyvion mission, your party/alliance should have good Ranged attackers representing, whether it's BLM, SMN, or RNG. RNG is preferable, since they can hunt down the Memory Receptacles quickly on Wide Scan. With an alliance of 15 and two RNG, a SMN, and I believe two BLM engaging the Memory Receptacle full-time, it took them around three minutes to whittle it down.

    According to what my guide told me when I did my first Promyvion, you must have the melee fighters engage the wandering Strays by the Memory Receptacle. They will be regenerated over time by the Memory Receptacle, but the point is that your party members cannot enter the memory stream if the Strays are still alive. I've read elsewhere that you can still enter the memory stream if they're not actively engaging you - IE, engaging a pet or an avatar.

    Once the Memory Receptacle is down, all party/alliance members must enter the memory stream within two minutes in order to successfully transfer to the next area.

    In further stages of Promyvion, there are multiple Memory Receptacles, but only one conceals the memory stream.

    This is all from memory and some from heresay, so if it's incorrect, I apologise.

    Actually, it seems as though the memory stream appears randomly after you defeat later memory receptacles, meaning that if you kill a specific memory receptacle and the portal doesn't appear, you can actually wait for the memory receptacle to respawn, kill it, and then the stream can appear.

    Actually the thing with entering is that you get interupted... They don't HAVE to dead to to enter but 99% of parties kill them all because while your being hit you can't enter. THF could work here for a PD Round-up... But in the circle at the top.

    Also your information is all correct from what I remember about it.

    Only three things I would like to add is that if you can manage to get SMNs attacking from one side and BLMs from the other the BLMs shouldn't be hit with the Empty Seed (Its AOE) because it is directional like you said, and I would hope the SMNs would have the hate... if not though your SMNs will have more time to attack the MR with the avatars before recasting.
    The other thing is that I heard that the damage the Empty Seed does is based on how close you are to it. I don't know if this is true or not but it did seem the closer I was to the MR the more damage I took.
    Finally, and maybe most importantly, the MRs do NOT I repeat NOT have MP like virtually ever other promyvion mob.
