For you BST out there, you can solo this easy in Phomiuna Aqueducts @ D 11/12 E 11/12. You will need a DC slime from the entrance to do your tanking. Pop reward when needed. Recharm slime inbetween kills. I packed +31 chr with food myself and they gauge as Might. If /dnc it can be no problem. Just melee for TP to heal yourself while trying to charm.
drop rate on these sucks big time. 4 hours of killing various fomors with im guessing 20% of them being fmor rng with 15 person alliance and no virgo drop. however i did manage to walk away with the rdm, thf, brd and drg subligars LOL
Impact already posted this info about a year ago + but seems no one saw it considering people have been asking questions that he answered. I will confirm this info.
There are 2 types of Fomor Rangers, Elvaan and Hume. Hume Fomor Rangers DO NOT drop the Virgo Subligar. They drop no subligars. The ONLY Elvaan Fomor Ranger shares a pop cycle with a Fomor Thief in the D/E-11/12 room that Eba pops in on the second map. He is not partied with any other Fomors. This is the ONLY Fomor Ranger that will drop the Virgo Subligar. I don't got a clue on his drop rate considering we only killed him a few times were as we killed Hume Fomor Rangers for hours and never got anything.
Ive looked all over for pop locations for each of the Fomor types. I found nothing. I have since decided to post locations I have seen myself within the main lv of the Aqueducts for each of the Fomors I have encountered.
I have seen Fomor RNGs at: (D,E-11,12) (D,E-4,5) - here I met Fomor RNG, SAM, DRK and NIN in a Party together. Any attempt I have made to pull one from the PT without getting them all, including Carby pull, has failed. If anyone knows a way to pull them separately, post please.
Did the people at Brady games come up with this set of mobs or what?
LOL, agreed, I was thinking the same thng when I first saw them.
And is it just me or is the Virgo subligar insanely difficult to get? I've been to the aqueducts 4 times now and have only fought ONE fomor ranger, who dropped nothing. I'm beginning to think it's just a myth.
And the fomor party in Lufaise is just up from the bridge near the waterfall, they're pretty easy me (55 rng/nin) and a friend (69 drg/whm) soloed the whole pty quite easily. We died shortly after though because the fomor bard's flood spell is insanely damaging. ><
I went the other night and with 3xRNG and 1 WHM, we only got one RNG subligar and I lost lot by 30. I was bored yesterday so I went down there and solo'd the Fomor RNG, used 1 x-pot. Wasn't too bad, but did have a tad bit of luck on a parry while casting shadows. Ranged attk him and recast shadows until he runs up, then Piercing Arrow -> EES -> Barrage -> had tp for another WS, but he fell.
oh, and no drop :/
edit: Don't try this unless you are willing to die. :P
pretty far in the north of the map..at that bridge at the waterfall..they spawn in a 3 mob pt. ranger, dragoon and bard....pretty easy to kill. never got a drop tho~
After hunting in Phomiuna Aqueducts a LONG TIME... I've come up with this: There's 2 kinds of Fomor RNG in here, one is Hume and one is Elvaan
The Elvaan ones drop Virgo subligar (rarely) and spawn on the first floor alternatively with a Fomor THF in the C9-C10-D9-D10 room.
The Hume ones drop Balloon Cloth but whether or not they drop Virgo subligar is unconfirmed with me, I've yet to see one drop it despite killing like 20+ Hume Fomor RNGs... These Hume Fomor RNG are everywhere else that Fomor RNG are found in P.A.
I came upon a PT (cause that's basically what they are... PTs of Fomor that hunt real PTs) of Fomori while I was out hunting them, that was Fomor Thief, and two Fomor Rangers. Decided that most Ranger mobs have ****** ranged accuracy, I'd sneak attack the thief first. To my surprise, SE actually made these varied. The Thief used a sword, and one ranger, which was Elvaan, used a bow, and the other ranger, a Hume, used a gun.
The Thief used a TP attack called Dancing Chains, which gave me an uber Drown effect (taking 20-25 hp per tick), the Elvaan Ranger used Netherspikes, which missed, so Idunno what it does, and the Hume Ranger used Barbed Crescent, which did very little damage (19), but gave me an Accuracy Down.
All in all, due to the Dancing Chains effect, I was left with 130/1012 HP after the fight with the three, but that was mostly because I was typing and taking screenshots during the fight, instead of keeping utsusemi up.
Also, from earlier fights with Fomori, I know they have a TP attack called Carnal Nightmare, that is AoE, and drains everyone's TP to 0. Not fun.
Fomori are probably my favorite mob family now. Go go Chains of Promathia!
Hmmmmm, fomor sounds like fomori to me - and those were giants. Disappointing, squeenix has always been good with their mythological references. Although garuda and shiva are both gods not goddesses.... *shrug*
Yo, first post. The Fomor are Gaelic spirits. Google the word "Fomorian" and you should get a deal of info. Or even go to dictionary.com and check Fomor, I think there's an entry for it there.
Edit: Yup, I was right. dict.com.
fomor
n : one of a group of Celtic sea demons sometimes associated with the hostile power of nature [syn: Fomor, Fomorian]
Lemme get this straight, the Fomor RNG is a hume...the Fomor RDM is a Mithra...
Did the people at Brady games come up with this set of mobs or what? Not that humes make bad RNG's, but mithra are certainly better if you were going for the ideal race choice, and the same is true of the Hume RDM.
Sorry, just had that thought, and SE makes my mind hurt.
Mithra mp is higher than a hume less hp, more int less mnd. More dex less str. More agi less vit. They arent different enough for you to say that a hume is better. And if your one of those MP obsessed rdms mithra's better
Are there not Mithra who want to weild magic? Are there not Humes who might be a good shot? What seems wrong about any oh it? By the way, one of the best white mages I've ever partied with was a Galka, and hands the best Paladin was a Tarutaru. I think they are demonstrating that the stereotypes we've placed on races and jobs do not hold water.
{I'm sorry} but I don't believe anybody that says a Galka was the best whm they ever saw, I think that the pt itself was probably what was good. And every pt I've had with a Taru/Pld tank was horrible. My pt was in {Quicksand Caves} and every time we would fight a spider it would kill our taru pld tank in one hit with its special move, doing 500-600 damage. Our pld had maybe 650 max hp, hence the reason you should never have a taru pld tank.
IMO taru PLD is great if they have decent equip. Never seen a tank keep hate as well as a taru PLD I know and pt with a lot. He has insane amounts of VIT gear. HP isn`t that much of an issue from my experience.
I found one of these guys with a couple of other Fomors (Dragoon and Bard) wandering around Misareaux Coast. They all checked as Too Weak to me (PLD 68), so I thought I'd try to fight them. Hehe. Not a good idea. Things were going well until one of them (the BRD, I think) did a Defense Down move on me and then they all started kicking my butt. All of a sudden I was in the orange and started hitting my Invincible macro so I could Instant Warp...but I had used my 2 hour for my last Promyvion fight, so it wasn't ready yet. ;_;
