One of those just raped me. Was looking for Trench Antlions, but I got aggro from a Cave Antlion -.-
Was buffed and casted Sleep II .. resisted... I stunned it and casted Sleepga II, as Sleep II wasnt ready yet... resist. Fight took like 7 secs inlcuding 3 hits and I was dead + delvld^^
Can a BLM75/RDM fight them at all? lol
My enfeebling skill isnt capped but I didnt really had a chance.

Well I was lvling BST in the area (65+'s), being new to the harder section I was frustratedly trying to figure out a camp. Finally i found some suitable lizard pets near some VT antlions and decide to try a fight.
Wouldn't you know it, midfight when i change to a 2nd lizard pet, i walk over the crack and BAM! Big black mama-jama comes out of nowhere and shoots my HP right into the red!!! Luckily my pet already had the attention of the VT antlion so i stuck it on the Cave Antlion to get it the hell off me before the next hit lands. By some miracle i didn't get hit, and the lizard lived long enough for me to /logout for my life.
I didn't look up the info on this thing until now and wow, 76+ I'm one tough taru to live through that and a VT XD. Watch youselves out in that zone man, i never went back again!!! Gona go back and have fun with these at 75 tho.
Of course if you're here reading this, i bet it's because you got agro from it too, so my warning comes too late XD.

Well, the drop rates on these for me, as RDM/BLM,
Is usually 1 in 5 kills, which isnt too bad.

My LS spent a couple hours popping these for HQ jaws for our Rostrum Pump run. I personally could never see it, but our RNG and RDM swore they could see a faint outline/shadow of these in the ground in their ambush areas. The only time I could easily see them was when they repopped, because the model placement was a black flicker and rediculously obvious--

I'd say they're level 76-78, 75BST friend farms here all the time and he told me they're usually T (with a rare VT)

So I was wandering around Attowah Chasm looking for boneyard gully without a map...yah i got agro from a scorp (54DRK/27THF) tried to flee hoping ot find a zone and BAM! got ambushed by one of these guys.

Note for everyone: If you're in Attahowa Chasm and you see an excavaion point... it's not an excavation point, it's a Pit Amubush point. And hurts, a lot.

Exploring a little bit in an xp party (61-62 Tracker Antlions) Found myself in front of Tiamat, took a few pics,not noticing sneak was down. Hit me (61 RDM P3 up Def:281) for 535 damage. Tiamat uses Drawn-in,steps on me for 595 damage. One dead taru.
Anyone know about where on the map you can find these?
Not sure on range, but a couple are VT to level 72, putting those particular ones 76+.
Btw.. they do drop Iolite, but its just a slower drop rate than from the 'easy' drop rate of Corpses or Arch Corpses.
We killed 4 Cave Antlion and we got 1 Iolite.
We killed 2 Arch Corpses and we got 2 Iolites.
We killed 7 Corpses and we got 5 Iolites.
Well, at least that's my experience there with LS friends.
And yes, they drop also Scarlet Stones, we found 2 on that 4 Cave Antlion we killed.

They dont drop Iolite... Iolite is only dropped by corse and arch corse. These drop Scarlet Stones which are then crafted into Rhodonite for the gobbie bag V quest.
