This guy is neither whm or rdm exclusively. He is a combination of both. IIRC, I have seen him cast Protectra & Shellra (IV I think, but maybe III), Barfira, Hastega, DiaII, BioII, Gravity, Dispel, and tier II nukes. I would not be surprised if one day he tried to bust out some AM or a summon on me... That being said, he's not much harder than any of the other gobs in the area.

He also seems to have no set spawn point, but wanders around the whole area, tending to stay near other gobs and buff them.

I have killed a whole lot of these, but nothing special has dropped, like a Hotrock or anything. The plat. beastcoin could be a possibility though - I feel like they must drop something.
New spawn point
# Jul 24 2005 at 12:31 AM Rating: Decent
New spawn point at (I-10) usually by the party of moblins.
every 15 mins ^^

Not a white mage
# Jul 11 2005 at 6:26 PM Rating: Decent
Spawns at (I-8), respawns about every minutes 15 minutes.

Its job is actually a red mage.

It drops the Moblin Hotrok (rare/ex) which is used in the quest "Over the Hills and Far Away" to obtain the Map of the Uleguerand Range.

On a sidenote, According to Urbandictionary.com, The definition of gurneyman is:

1. gurneyman
The baddest **** in town!
The Gurneyman will bust a cap in yo ***.

I hope that helps.
Confirm Two Gurneyman

Really 2 Moblin Gurneyman in Oldton Movalpolos no only 1. Confirm drop Platinium Beascoin but is very hard to got from Steal. I m have Steal +11 and only got 1 after 15 try.
Newton
# Feb 01 2005 at 2:06 PM Rating: Decent
The Newton equivalent to him is the Moblin Scalpelman (80 WHM; his AI has him walk around and cast such buffs as Shellra IV, Barsilencera, and Hastega).

There's only one Gurneyman in Oldton, as there is only one Scalpelman in Newton. But you must admit, they stand out.

There's also the hard/rare/whatever you want to call them Goblins. In Oldton is the Goblin Freelance (45, I think, WAR; 2 spawns) and in Newton is the coolest looking Goblin you will ever see - Goblin Swordsman (78 WAR; 2 or 3 spawns). The Freelance and Swordsman are noticeable because it looks like all the other Gobs/Mobs have /follow on them - me and my friends call it their posse. XD

If anyone wants a picture of any of these, or wants to know more about them, let me know. ^_^

Confirmed that you can steal a platinum coin off him.

Now the bad news, it's very, very, very hard to steal this off him, think Gold Beastcoins only 10x as hard to steal. (What? You'd thought it's be easy? If it was they wouldn't be valuable).

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

Gurneyman stops aggro'ing at lvl 60. I've killed him a couple times, he drops nothing unusual. Hes a normal moblin, with high lvl whm spells.

He also casts barparalyzra/barsilencra. He roams around quite alot, as another poster stated.

Judging from that thing on his back, like Moblin Ashman, I suspect he's an additional source of Moblin Hotroks for the Uleguerand map quest. Don't know if he actually drops that item, but that's my suspicion.

Otherwise, you either have to camp Moblin Ashman (of which there's only a single pop every 15 minutes) or you have to head to the much stronger enemies in Newton.

Its not really a 'normal' mob. its EP to a 62 (no agro) so that makes it around 50ish. however it DOES cast IV level protect/shell.. Made a whm i was with very mad since he didnt get those till 60+.

Also casts hastega....

But for the most part it just wanders around buffing up the nearby mobs..
RE: Normal mob

Oh and of course it casting unfair spells that it shouldnt have (like the rest of the mobs in FF XI) makes it abnormal? i don't see how

guess i'm just weird
Be careful mining
# Dec 31 2004 at 12:21 AM Rating: Decent
This guy occasionally roams around the mining point at H-8 in oldton and sometimes even goes down south to H-9 before retracing his steps. He has a higher level compared to the other moblins/goblins around that area.

Isn't it obvious from his name? His purpose it to hold the gurney!

Only being facetious of course ^.~
If anyone has any info, plz post it
