o/u hell

O/U are the devil incarnate. The mammets are a joke, but the problem with these guys is the hate reset move. That move screws everything up, and at about 15% they start going into crazy mode. Also Omega has a magic shield move that makes all magic useless, this imo is the hardest part of the omega battle. Equilizer from Ultima is nasty too, I'd say bring a nin if u can, it saves on the cure spam, and try to balance melee with healers.

This is one hell of a fight, so don't get discouraged, because you are definately going to die a whole lot on it. Please be wise, and FORCE everyone to bring CCB polymers, and meds, anyone without them are a liability to your success.
Strategy

Well my CoP static just beat this fight tonight and I feel I should write this just to give a little bit of confidence to those statics that dont have what everyone would call the "Perfect Set-up". My static had a very far from great setup but we went through strategies and eventually found one that worked.

We won the BC as.....
PLD
NIN
WAR
DRK
RDM/RNG <----(dont ask me how that worked lol)
RDM/WHM (me)

We went into the BC and buffed up as normal, all melees drank au'laits and used defence food and all mages had juices. All melee of any type should sub nin as it gives the utsusemi and subtle blow, which are critical on mobs that rely so heavily on Special attacks. Rdms gave pro and shell to 3 members each and everyone had a reraise item. Reraise is very important because if you die the mobs dont regain hp when unengaged, meaning you can reraise and try again where you left off. Everyone should have a CCB polymer and 2-hrs ready to make things easier.

The mammets werent really a challenge as they can each be easily solod by a melee or bound by a mage. We had all melees solo a mammet. The RDMs bound the one that wasnt engaged, healed the melees and silenced any mammets that turned blm. As long as nobody dies before one of the mammets goes down this part should go extremely smoothly as the mammets arent very strong. After the mammets you will be healed to full so dont be afraid to use up all your mp. We had 37 minutes left when we finished the mammets.

Next comes Omega, which is in my opinion the hardest part of the entire fight due to his high hp and defense. Now first of all positioning is key as Omega has AoE effects that can hit anything in front of, behind or close to him (depending on which special.) You should make sure everyone is on the far-side from where omega spawns so that if you wipe you can safetly reraise. The tank should pull omega to a corner and keep him facing the back of the ship and the mages should go to the opposite corner. Melee should stand to the side of Omega that is not facing the mages so he will never turn towards them. Now as you can see we didn't have a WHM so we had no way of casting stona on the tank. We made up for this by having the nin as the main tank as it is very hard for omega to hit him (make sure rdms keep blind, paralyze and slow on omega to help this.) We also brought along a PLD incase the NIN either got petrified or was killed. The PLD stood on the side with the mages and healed the NIN occasionally to build up a bit of hate. The RDMs healed and the WAR and DRK skillchained. It went extremely smoothly and we only had to use 1 CCB polymer and no 2-hours when omega was at 15% hp. After omega you will be completely healed. We had 27 minutes left going into Ultima.

Now you will take on Ultima who has much lower defense but a wider range of status effects and special attacks. Position yourself the same as for Omega and bascially fight the same way. Ultima will petrify your tank quite a bit but it is not a very long lasting petrify and our nin was able to hold hate and take the hits through it. When Ultima was at 50% health we decided to unleash all our 2-hrs on it. We got it down to 15% and then wiped. We all reraised, waited on weakness and then threw in CCB polymers 30 seconds apart. Easily finished it off w/ 6 minutes to spare.

Just so its known, Ultima and Omega arent a walk in the park by any means, but they can be done with a wide range of jobs and setups. Dont get discouraged if you dont have the perfect setup, just see what jobs your members have at 60+, try and figure out what variations or new strategies could work, and then test them out. BCNMs were meant to be beaten in a wide variety of ways, theres just usually one that works a bit better.... but dont think its the only one!

Omega & Ultima don't regen HP
# Sep 19 2005 at 12:32 PM Rating: Decent
Just to give advice to anyone who gets close to beating Omega and Ultima: The whole pt can reraise itself at the opposite side of the airship to Omega w/out getting aggro. Also, both the NMs do not regen HP thank god. If it wasn't for the timer people can just die all day and reraise themselves til they kill them lol.

I've fought the Ultima/Omega at least 5 times (i've lost count) and my whole pt has probably spent over 10-15million gil with all our loses. ; ;

Gonna try for a final attempt soon I hope all goes well ^^

My party and i tried this 3 times. First time i made some mistake by using soul eater and berserk so i died fast. We finally won with:

DRK/NIN, SAM/NIN, BLM/WHM, RDM/WHM, WHM/SMN, NIN/WAR

Having the melee's sub NIN helped tremendously. The first 2 attempts we had WAR subs so we were using Hi-Potions and getting cures from the mages. Our HP barely dropped at all with NIN subs. Guillotine didn't do as much as usual, but it was much safer. We also used 5 Polymers. 2 on Omega, and 3 on Ultima.

Yes, this fight can get intense. First of all you have 45minutes to finish 3 different parts. kill first 5mammets the gives you full mp and hp. Then you fight Omega. Omega is in my opinion the hardest of the 3 parts. Has a lot of hp. I would advise tanks to use bat earrings and blinding pots. Both Omega and Ultima will miss about 30% more of the time with them. Also bringing RR gorgets or Hairpins is a very good idea. Omega and Ultima do not regen when not engaged. We ended up beating Omega without a wipe and with 25minutes left to defeat Ultima. and we literally ended up killing Ultima in 3 and a half minutes. Just unloaded 2hrs on it. Very cool Cutscene afterwards too. This is definetely a challenging fight.

..er clicked enter too fast lol so it's an "edit"

Anyways, this thing is crazy and no matter how good you are you really cant "wing it." We basically flew through the rest of CoP, but just died to Omega tonight; that missle aoe can do around 800 damage to non tanks, and Omega lasts so long that it isnt even funny. The mages were down to 0 mp and Omega still had about 20-30% of his life left, so I see medicine for mp recovery as a must. Omega is not to be taken lightly.

PS: An awesome fight, and at least I can say that SE held up the Omega reputation of FF's.

Do you mean on the normal Airship? This is for a Chains of Promathia mission, late in the expansion. It's only on a specific airship, which I believe leads to a place called Al'Taeiu.

I don't think they would put in the Ruby and Emerald and whatnot rock Weapons. They had a specific use in the VII story. Unless they kinda recreated someting like it (that would be lame) there won't be any. :/

But with the "rock Weapons," couldn't SE make a twist off of the Magicite, or elemental protocrystals. Say, Cid decides to take over the world with machines and he uses the protocrystals to power them. Thus Ruby weapon would be the "Super Delux Fire Protocrystal Weapon Mock 4 C.I.D." And....yeah.....Cid would kick even more ***.

what id like to see is like an ultima and omega weapon, like from previous FF titles. omega and ultima might be the game's rendition of them, but id still wanna see the weapon varients of them ^^

...and ill bet hes a pain in the *** to fight too.

actualy, these are omega and ultima weapon. literally. The NPC who controls them -literally- calls the last one "Ultima weapon" when he refers to it in the dialogue.
Reference?

... I don't think this is an Empty. WS (translated from a Japanese site) are as follows:

Ion Efflux: frontal paralysis
Rear Laser: petrification; all attacks not made from the front are countered with this
Hyper Pulse: area effect damage
Pile Pitch: one target heavy damage + hate reset
Guided Missile: area effect damage, centered on target

Two other effects are listed without names: a barrier that renders magic ineffective, and an attack that steals status effects (like the Trinary Tap that certain Empty have). Please post with any corrections/additions.

Unless you are looking for it i dont think you will ever find out the name of that magic barrier thing(the fight gets extremely hectic at the end).
As for the status stealing move, that one is called (fogive the spelling) Target Analysis.
Also as a little side note, most of his moves are done randomly, sometimes 6 in a row of the same move, but he hardly uses the Pile Pitch move.

Ever since first stepping foot onto an airship I've craved at the thought of SE making a bcmn battle on the deck of an airship. I just got my wish... not only that but the other war fitted airships flying along side in the background makes the fight enviroment seem just as more cool to be in. /psych!!!!
