pt of rdm's?
# Jun 18 2008 at 7:01 PM Rating: Decent
i was thinking about this.. could a party of rdm's take this guy down? maybe have like 2 or 3 /whm (the main kiters) for erase, etc. maybe 1 or 2 /drk for chainspell--> stun, and another /blm for Elemental Seal? idk. i was just curious.
it's probably a fail idea anyways xD

LotB of Shiva just took him out with 6 BSTs lv71-75. Very fun fight, could probably be done with less.

With 6 people we had a number of deaths (like 7-8 total) but it still only took like 30-35 minutes. With 8 people the second fight I think we only had 2.

it's 100% drop, just did this 5 times last night and it dropped all 5 times.

First time we tried ninja kiters... um, totally bad idea. Blink doesn't stop all of his attacks, and um.. well.. one hit and you're dead {See you again!}

Like earlier poster stated, pld and blm are key to winning this fight.

I tested cape out on exp mobs, and yes, the crit hit increase is very noticeable, however, when shadows are down for some reason, just macro it out, get shadows back up, and game on ^^

introduction
This mob is spawned with a crafted item named Haunted Muleta. The muleta consists of two items, spectral goldenrod, and Spectral Crimson cloth. The Spectral crimson can be commonly found on Fomors in Luf-meadows (attained after being prom-dem, prom-holla, and prom-mea). The Goldenrod is obtained through Haunts in Kuftal Tunnel. Find a Clothcrater who is 90+ (100 to be sure of a success) and sub woodworking(mine was 50 or so). Trade to a ??? in L-8 @ Ul-Range and you spawn this 10 story high buffalo. 2000 pound buffalo.

Alliance Set Up
Party 1-
BLMX5, BRDX1
Party 2-
PLDX3, WHMX1, RDMX1, SMNX1
Party 3-
RDMX2, WHMX1, THFX1, SAMX1, DRKX1

Add Party-
a total of 6 ppl composing the add pt including a PLD, WAR, 2 MNKs, and 2 WHMs (Add pt is to take care of adds and jump in when members from the main alliance are down.

Strategy

Tanking

We used plds as Snort hits through shadows and if your going to be hit, might as well have defense to take the hit then still be alive. I had HP that was @ 1900 or so, another pld (Entropy) provided HP that was above 1800 as well,3rd pld (Grenseal)had HP that was @ 1600 and died so i think 1700 or so is the mark to stay alive for the most part. We began the fight with taking turns using invincible. Tanks must remember that snort resets hate. Hate was bouncing off and on from me and entro with exceptions from time to time. Urvan attacks really slow, therefore if a pld survives a hit, there is plenty of time to heal him to full therefore I would choose a couple of plds to fight this thing.

Urvan Moves
-This buffalo loves to spam Bindga- make sure to have ppl with erase in each pt to counter this move.
- Does -aga spells such as blizzaga 4 so make sure only tanks get hit by these. Meaning mages and others stay as far back when this is being casted, then get close to heal. He doesnt spam these spells like if he had chainspell so dont worry, he wont spam consecutive aga spells.
-This buffalo spams spells to paralyze the whole pt, have mages that can take paralyze off in each pt in the main alliance.
-Snort, possibly the most important move to recognize if in case you want to control hate as much as possible. After snort, hate gets reset therefore if a blm casted a strong spell on Urvan after Snort, Urvan will run >>directly<< after the blm. Ways to counter are to cast Bind, Gravity, or Sahdowbind and have a tank re-establish hate. This is how a few of our blms and whms died a couple times.

Killing Urvan
This fight is based on tanks, solely on blms and possibly rngs to DD, and possibly kiting as it will take some time for tanks to re-establish hate after some unfortunate timing of Snort and a blm finishing a spell cast resulting in the blm taking hate from the pld. Rdms, brds, plds, and blms are key to winning this fight. Other melee are also important for the add pt as there will be adds spawning left and right.

Conclusion

Well I have a pld and nin @ 75 and was planning to use the Toreador Cape with NIN. Just a follow up on the Tor cape, from what i can tell, you get hit for ctriticals maybe 3 out of every 10 times but evade a lot. (note: I merited evasion so that may also be affecting the fact i dont get hit). I wore this to Simurgh and Simurgh missed me a lot of the times and did not land many critical hits. Overall i rate this cape an A- despite what others say. The cape is only as good as how the person is using it. If your a pld say wearing this as a main cape, well durr your going to be getting hit a lot and therefore get hit for criticals a lot more often. But if you a NIN that macros this when your shadows are down and macro it back in during provoke and when your shadows are up, then its worth the fight(or the amount of gil you pay to buy it).

Sorry for the supper long post. Hope this answers all the questions about this NM. Feel free to post a reply asking any furthur elaboration. Thanks and if this helps, feel free to give me a rate up /smile.

This is hands down one of the hardest mobs (if not the hardest) mob I've fought. He hits for about 800-1600 on a 75 PLD and he hits through shadows (so he's extremely difficult to tank as NIN, although we've had ours do it a few times.)

You need to kite him. It's impossible to straight tank him, because one wrong move and you're dead. He spams counterstance, but since he's kited you're probobly not meleeing him (we never have). I imagine getting countered with his attack would be a fast way to die though. His Defense doesn't really seem to lower either >_>

The real reason why he's so damn hard is because of Bindga. Basically, every mage should sub WHM and have erase. If the kiter is bound for more than 3-5 seconds he will die. I died 11 times in the two battles we did against him today, and took a lot of R1s because against a mob like this, exp loss can't be at the top of your mind. We had 1 WHM, and everyone was dying really quickly. For some reason, the PLDs had a LOT of trouble holding hate: we suspect Snort has a hate reset to it.

Blizzaga III and Blizzard IV are also commonly cast. One of our PLDs is an idiot and manages to get hit by -ga every single time, and one time it nearly killed us because he took like 15 people with him when he died.

Common adds are buffalos, Stegs (Minotaur mobs), Raptors (virus in CoP areas is sick nasty, make sure you Viruna that ASAP >_<), and Snolls (Combustion can kill a lot of things)

Our linkshell does 20 man Kirins with less problems than we have with a 26 man Urvan. If that doesn't say something, I don't know what will.

Ok i took my LS out to kill this for fun.....yeah its real fun. Its the first time i ever lost 75.

things you need

RR hairpens. maybe the boots that make you run fast.

I think there is better ways to fight this then trowing bodys at it. I am a NIN and i think like every atk went through shadows. I forget sorry. but Shadows are useless really as it binds you with AoE.

i think. if you take 3-4 PLDs all with RR hairpens and 8-12BLM/RDM and the rest RNGs it would make this mob easyer.

he seems very easy to bind. so you just have your BLMs and cast bind and nuke, RDM gravity and RNGs Shadowbind if bind needs to be fast.

just keep out of AoE range. what is rather large. and well when i max HP i have about 1600 and i could live through 1 hit but thats about it.

all and all was fun. >.<

W00t i love it, we are famous lol man this **** pwns lol. Thanks Allakhazam for posting that picture of my ls killing Geush Uvran. Dougie good try for ur first attempt, we actually pwned the hell out of mine at the last 10 mins, everyone went all out on him lol, cuz we were getting tired so everyone was running around and freaking 2houring, mnks, sams, blms, rngs, hell our nins even 2hr'ed it lol.
Thanks alla for posting the pic

WOW. He was alot harder than I expected. We took 17 73+ incuding a 75 bst for adds and it took us an hour to get him to 1% before wiping. He does the always unpopular Bindga spell and if you are unfortunate enough to be in range he will pick you off one by one until bind wears or erased. We have many more pop items in our LS but we are going back with reinforcements and a rng party as well as a small alliance for adds. Kiting him seemed to work best, but I strongly recommend a whm sub for kiter to erase self or put kiters in party with a whm who can be dedicated to erasing whoever is kiting. After our initial almost wipe, which happened in first 5-7 minutes, we regrouped and started really working on him. Stun doesn't work so his -ga spells need to be avoided much like Kirin's. I.E. : Shadowbind-->get the hell away. He does rabid dance quite a bit so rdms need to be on hand for dispel alot. brd. seemed to have less success than rdm. at dispel. The Bst. was the best thing we had along and we plan to take 2 next time. This is because the adds in area include Brontotaurs which have the Mortal Ray ability, which is basically a death-in-10 seconds-curse. If cursna does not land within 10 seconds, you die plain and simple. This was taken out of the equation by having the Bst. use raptors to tank it, and who cares if they go down to the death curse. Utsusemi is pretty much useless because his aoe kills all shadows in one hit. I had wondered why this cape started out so damned expensive and now I know why. This guy makes Gration look weak and the area adds are DC to 75. I hope this info. helps anyone and I will post my conclusions after our next run, which we all expect to be wildly successful. Gl all.

K so my ls on Fairy killed this thing on Saturday, and man that was some ******* NM, first off the ******* is like the size of Genbu, next, he pwned everyone in 1 hit, it was like raining bodies (i was the only one who didn't die). 2hrs are a must for this NM, we killed him with EES (Eagle eye shot for u noobs). Blms are a must also, cuz melees were doing **** damage to it, our 75 sam, used 2hr and missed like every ws, Kiting him is a must, and he resists Stun all the time. Basically be prepared to die, it took us 40mins and we had bout a total of 40 deaths with bout 26 people there. We got the Cape, 1.6k gil, and bout 80 xp as a 66drg, rest of people were past 70, so not sure much they got. if u wanna see a picture of him, go to our ls sight, at towls.de.vu and go to the news section and pick most recent date, we got a few pictures of him (i'm the guy running around in drg af ^^)

Hi guys.

This thing is HUGE!
First thing you should know is that it dose damage beyond belief. It hit me (Rdm Lv74) for 1,200 and then took out the Whm with a pounding 2400. The others tried to make a run for it but it did one of its abilities call BINDGA! Yep Bindga meaning everyone got bound and it takes its time to slowly wipe your party out. Its attack time is slow but deadly and has a very high evasion.

This fight is mostly intended for a Ninja tank. I wouldn’t recommend Paladin or Warrior.
I would also recommend having Stun and if you can, get all the help possible, by this meaning full alliance.

As I am told by someone who actually has fought him Geush Urvan's dmg is a reflection of the cape he drops. Every other hit will be a critical attack, and varies from like 100 - 1000. Anyone wearing the Toreador's Cape will have the same critical attack ability...but against you. Absolutley "excellent" for a THF to wear when stacking hate on someone, or THF-tankning (past 74). The fight for it is tough, but the drop rate for the spawn items is very tedious. Good luck, and happy hunting!

actually, the 50% critical is adverse, meaning while wearing the cape the mob attacking you will have a +50% to critical hits.

Didn't seriously think the cape would be that powerfull did you? XD

This mob is very odd. He does like a 1000 dmg a hit, but sometimes he only does 40 or so. It doesn't make sense.

Btw, this guy is usually blinked tank b/c he does so much dmg.
