if this helps anyone...i was levelin there as mnk and he spawned. a rng had been campin him 4 2 hrs. 1 hit n it died. 5 min later he spawned again. both spawns on 2nd floor. so evidentally it goes by how many sheep u kill, but most already know that. didnt know hed respawn so soon though.

Ok to everybody who thinks that they have real good luck or whatever, the lvl 10 sam sword its drop rate is 100% so you will get it 1/1 everytime you kill him

Just killed him after about an hour of camping and got drop with no THF sub, so either I got lucky or its a pretty good drop rate. He spawned right next to the ramp that ascends to level 3 of the hill. I killed sheep the whole time till I saw him so I think it may be a lottery spawn.

Got the kill without even camping him...

I just hit NIN15 so I thought I'd go to Wadi to pop Chocoboleech for a Gassan (not as NIN). So I got my Gassan, headed back to Bastok to switch back to NIN and went back out for some more solo action. This sucker was sitting right at Bastok's gate.. apparently some had to zone him. So I claimed him and got me a nice Katayama (and 40 xp).

Yo i had to wait 3 and a half hours, me and my competition killed at least 150 sheep, so dont give up on it there is no trick to make it spawn you just need patience, I finally saw that stupid sheep spawn and he was cocky enough to do it right in front of me to and i killed him and took that Great Katana and now im gonna own all ********

Camped this thing for about 40 minutes, killing the sheep on the 2nd floor of Vomp Hill (around I-9 to I-8), and it popped.

Wasn't really hard as a lv18RDM/9BLM, he kept missing me.
Kill him and got 25 exp and a Katayama ichimonji!

Very happy as I plan to be a samurai once I hit lv30.

My wife used her Mnk 40 to hunt this thing down for her katana. She wanted it for two reasons. One, she wanted to use the katana for her Samurai of course. 2, we have a NM hitlist and we wanted to add his name. Needless to say, it was a quick and painful fight for Karnero and she got her sword. He's not a long spawn and he didn't have any crazy tricks up his sleeve. Another name on the list for us. =)

1/1 here on the sword....spent almost 2 days up here farmin behive chips.....didnt even know about it, ran across it there now.

lvl 27 rdm....beat it within a minute, didnt hit me once, got sword drop, nice... ^^

Man, after some bad luck camping Cargo Crab Colin ( well, I've been getting the claim, just not the drop, he's a stingy one ) I decided to try something a little easier. I've been thinking about getting my SAM a little higher, and noticed this NM on Alla.

Went up to the top of the hill as my 63PLD/25THF, expecting a long camp. When I got to the top, there he is, just sitting there, frolicking with a couple other sheep.

Claimed it, and killed him quickly...all in all I'd say he has just under 400hp. 1/1 but that shouldn't surprise anyone since it seems to drop 100% of the time, according to the other posts. It was nice to be successful at this whole NM thing for once. I usually find myself waiting for hours for nothing or just barely missing the claim.

I was out on Vomp hill doing the Blade of Darkness quest as a 29 WAR/14 PLD when I saw this beast aggro on some poor schmuck fighting a gobbie. So I decided to claim him for myself. With the Chaosbringer GS it took about five mins. When I killed it I recieved the GTK and now I can't use it because I'm not a SAM. Might save it for when I decide to unlock SAM lol. I haven't decided yet.

I was camping him on the second level of Vomp hill @(I-8)(second level if you call ground level the first) because that's where most web sources say he pops... and he actually does pop on level 3, somebody just killed him up there as I ran up. ;_; Looks like more relentless hours of camping for me...

Here's where I found him...
If the zone to Bastok is level 0, then Carnero is on level 2. Just run in circles around the mountain on level 2 without climbing any higher and kill all the sheep and wolves you see.



EDIT: Well, I still don't know how to put url's on here I guess. I took a screenie of the map view where I was standing when I fought him. Oh well, I-8 I think.
