Just got him yesterday on the Quetzalcoatl server. Camped him for 2 and a half hours and he popped on the lower portion of H-6, just above the outport.
That bird is a crafty one, I'd say~

It was because of this birdie NM that I discovered that there are some new NM around the 3 nations of Vana'diel since the recent update. I was doing my normal farming of the area when Nunyenunc appeared on my WideScan just NW of the road in H-5. At first I thought it was an NPC or maybe a NM so I target the him and start running. When I got there I saw it was indeed a NM and someone had already claimed (darn ;_;).
So the next day I decide to camp him and after about 1.5 hours (and competition ><)I see him pop up on my WideScan. So I targeted him and used Flee to catch up with him just North of the Outpost in H-6 just off the road. He was no problem for my lvl 26/13 thf/rng especially when I accidentally hit my 2-hr ><. Recommend fighting him at least when you are lvl 20 (just to be safe). Got only the Pilgrim's Wand on the drop. After this guy I started looking into the possibility of other new NM being other areas. Turns out I was right. I went on to fight Sharp-Eared Ropopi in East Sarutabaruta next. Hope this helps ^_^b.

just killed this guy about 10 minutes ago, got the drop

I saw it pops in my widescan list at first time when I went there to camp, but was claimed by a rdm.. then i started killing placeholders hoping it pops soon.. i killed for 3 hrs but no spawn at all..
then the other day i went there, killed placeholders for 1 and a half hour, it pops in H-5, along the path. and i got the drop.
So i just guess it is 3-4 hours pop~

Much like many of the other NM's I camped, there is usually a specific section of mobs on wide scan that are the place holders for those types of NMs. From what I seen, there are 3 placeholders. I was helping a friend camp this (I had gotten mine shortly after the update frenzy) and throughout that time I had seen the 3 bird placeholders spawn in H-5 to H-6, and uncommonly in I-5. Which is a weird radius considering how other NM spawn locations are. All the other birds appeared in different locations of the scan list, and some also spawned in areas far from the confirmed H-5 location (despite the birds flying around that spot). So whether or not those are placeholders too is unknown for now.
We were there for about 2-3hrs and hadn't seen a spawn. But from what I've read others say, it seems like this is a typical 3hr average lottery NM. Even at the 3hr mark, you may or may not get it to spawn until much later.
As for my drop, I was BRD/WHM at the time so much like others who get it, I too believe that this is a 100% drop.

Yes...in my Wide Scan list there are three crows between the Rarabs and the Yagudo in/near H-5. These are the placeholders. They seem to pop in H-5, H-6 (down to the outpost) or I-5 (over to the tree past the signpost); I've never seen them in I-6 yet.

camped this for 3+ hours with some friends tonight.
ended up loosing to a thief (damn flee), when it spawned in H-6 near the outpost. I hadn't counted on in spawning in H-6, so i never checked there.
My guess is this is a lotto pop, because it took over 3 hours to spawn.

I was camping this Birdie this morning and after an hour or so of killing placeholders, lost the claim to a level 10-ish guy who only attacked so his Ranger friend could run out and kill it ._. It spawned near H-5 (I think it was H-, may have been I-5, but close), right next to the sign on the road.
Anyway... I logged off a bit, logged on, and tried again. I saw it on Wide Scan (Black Mage/Ranger~!) a little over two hours after the first one died. Barely got the claim (A Ranger ran up seconds after my Stun went off), killed it, and, like others have stated, seems to be a 100% drop. This time it spawned in H-5, north side of that huge rock in the middle.

Camped this for about 2 hours. Finally got it to pop smack dab in the middle of H-5. Got the drop. From reading these posts and talking to friends, I get the feeling this is a 100% drop. Well good luck to everyone ^^
I was also out there killing placeholders for upwards of three hours, with no pop. There must be something I'm missing. I was checking wide scan every few seconds, so it's not like someone grabbed it when I wasn't looking. Not that there were many other people out there until the end when I decided to give up.
I've camped him for about 3 hours with little competition and havent seen him once T.T

He spawned for me just to the west of the big rock in G-5. Dropped the wand first try.

Same thign with me, no other ppl tho, just me and as brd/rng, no pops for 2hrs
I was camping this nm looking forward to getting the staff. I was there for 40 min or so when 1 other person showed up. Then another. We all ended up partying since i had been there longer we agreed that i would get the first staff. Well another 20 min went by and another person showed up. Well we were there for 2 hours and there were over 7 people there! One of the people in my pt also was a rng and didnt see the nm on her ws. The nm never popped.

this guy sucks forme, been here 1 hr 30 mins, no pop, killing all placeholders
Ive killed him twice now, tis about lvl 10-15 I would day as he did manage to hit my lvl 40 THF for 5-15 a pop a few times. Got the wand both times one for me and a freind. I am very happy about this low level wand and I will be using it quite frquently on my mages.

Hunted this NM yesterday. I spent about an hour killing placeholders before it popped on the boundary of the H-5 and I-5 cells. Claimed it with no competition whatsoever, killed it and got the drop.
My friend had killed him earlier and got the drop as well.. in fact, everyone seems to have gotten the drop on the first try, so I'm ready to believe it's a 100% drop as some people have posted here already. :)
Also, the NM was very much undercamped, so it's worth giving a shot; the item is useful for starting mages.

Found him a few steps North of the West Saru Outpost. He may have been there for a bit, as the entire Zone seemed empty (crawlers everywhere).
Killed him as a Galka Thf13/War6 with capped Sword, Evasion, and Shield.
Started fight with 300% TP and Meat Mithkabob in effect. I used Perfect Dodge and Selbina Milk for regen, and it still took me down to about 50hp.
I evaded about 60% of his swings and he evaded about 50% of mine. Wing Cutter hit for 29, normal hits for low teens. My hits on him were mostly mid teens.

Just took this down on Asura. Got the wand on first kill too. Looks like its a high drop rate or 100%.
I saw it spawn in H-5. Slightly NW of the bottom curve of the path. Just to the right wall of the two rocks on the bottom part of the H-6 grid.
So there's one spawn spot for ya.

Fought him last night as 40BLM/20BST took him down with no trouble. Estimate he had around 400hp for me. Spawned on the H-5, I-5 border for me after about an hour of killing birds and other mobs there. Dropped the wand on my first kill.
That's a really awesome perpsective on that picture.
I fought this bird as a 31Rdm/Thf. Total damage it took before it fell was 374. I wasn't hit once by him during the fight. Mainly melee, with one Thunder Spell and a Burning Blade WS. Fight lasted under 5 minutes.
Spawn location for me was (G-6) - (H-6).

Took it down last night as a 56whm/bst (widescan and charm) using my Blessed Hammer.
It was hitting me for about 0-2 per hit and I was hitting it for 40-50. He has about 800hp.
I would estimate that he's around level 12-15 however I haven't defeated him with any other job thus far.
