Alastor Antlion is a pop NM. You pop this nm by trading Antlion Trap to the ??? at F-10 in Attohwa Chasm.

yea this is a fun *** HNM to fight we have 2 tank 75 NIN(Sictravis) and (me 75 PLD) the NIN took care of the feeder(Mother NM) while i get the exo it spawn until it spawn the HNM the AA what made us so successful is because we had so much support ^^20+ ppl 70+ had whm healing on the side because getting petrified is a real pain.Anyways i recommend more then 2 tank for this fight and have some xtra WHM curing on the outside GL all.

Question:

1. Can a BST Charm the Executioner Antlion pop?

2. Is the NM pop <pos> F-10?

To answer question below, you pop the Feeler Ant by trading an Antlion Trap to the ???.

Ow, one thing we found out last night. After like 6 pops everybody got sleepy and we ****** up one, lol.
Well we wiped, but a smn zoned the alastor.
It doesn't matter if you keep the alastor claimed, if an executioner manages to get back to the ??? the alastor despawns.
I got my pumps though before that ^^;

So you soloed AA for the last 10%? Not in an alliance but in a party? Just one question, how's a whm/nin supposed to dish out the kind of damage, while taking the full brunt of AA's attacks and keeping buffs up at all times too. There is no way this happened.

On another note, this NM isn't too bad. The only danger is making sure the mages don't get petrified, and that you have competent whm's to cure the tanks of petrification. We blink tanked Feeler until AA popped. When it did a rdm ES+Grav it and we kited it until all Exe's were gone and everyone was 100% go to fight it. Not too bad of a fight, so long as everyone does their part. :)

I felt like posting some tips here to help anyone else interested in doing pumps run in the future. My LS just did a run and we're 7/7 making us 8/9 total.

For us we did the following:

2x NINs, BRD, WHM, SMN, PLD were in the tank PT. The NINs basically kept Feeler busy. The SMN would use Titan's Earthen Ward to mitigate any damage taken for the NINs. We had SMN focus on keeping the NINs healthy and being backed up by the WHM, but the WHM focused mainly on the PLD, who would tank the summoned Executioners.

One NIN was assigned to main tank the Feeler while the second NIN was just there to back him up. The second NIN's job was actually to voke and kite Alastor, but the PLD would also voke Alastor if it popped while the second NIN was busy with Feeler.

Also to lessen confusion, we would always CFH on Feeler after it popped, thus allowing melee to immediately attack him when things were clear. We also only had someone in the Add PT claim and CFH and only he was allowed to CFH. We also had someone assigned to calling out whenever Alastor was casting Stonega III or Breakga. When either were called out, everyone would basically scatter and move back in.

The best way to deal with Alastor when he's summoned is to bring him up the hill and to kite him around this boulder/rock wall. A NIN is best at kiting Alastor because Alastor has an annoying enpetrify, but PLDs work just as good. However, it's REALLY nice if your NIN ends up kiting him while its night and they have their AF feet equipped.

We always had a WHM outside the alliance with the NIN so that way she wouldn't get hit with Breakga or Stonega III. Usually the NIN only kites if we're in "danger". For us, danger being half of the alliance in red or dead or if Feeler spat out 3 other Executioners before it died.

Once the danger was over, we would have the two NINs straight up tank him, which sped up the kills once we realized it was better to actually let the melee be able to hit him. We did Light, which the BLMs MBed with Thunder spells. Eventually we were able to kill Alastor within 5-10 minutes with enough SCs and MBs.

After tanking this mob a few nights ago I stopped here to add a few tidbits

He resists stun..as he tried any of his stonga and Stone 4 spells, quake..he resisted stun and casted anyway

trying several different strategies on how to handle this NM, he is not kitable due to breakga (AoE petrification) and he also appears to hit nornmaly and petrify the target. So he has to be tanked straight up and preferably by a PLD, petro on a NIN is <incredibley tough>

my suggestion is a full alliance with 2-3 PLDS and 2-3 WHMS to tank, back up tank and spam massive cures to offset the spells. Another party seperate from the alliance would be helpful with a BST or two in it. They come in handy for handling adds as well as Executioner pops.

As far as the feeler, we had a NIN tank it to limit tp build. I *think* the Feeler pops an add everytime it gets 100tp. So when a spawn pops the NIN disengages and keeps shadows up, when alastor finally does show up to play it's very important to kill the feeler as fast as possible BLMs nuke this fool with everything before he manages to pop another Executioner..not fun fighting Alastor with 2-3 Exe running around.

Hope this helped anyone who plans on going on a pump run in the near future.

fun fight, ??? spawns 15 mins after Alastor death
9 runs

So Dark Aggression went to take this sucker down for the mages and we spawned him about 9 times with only one real disaster. On about the 3rd run Alastor didn't want to come out to play.

One of our now sad blm's spawned the Feeler and we tanked that sucker for almost 30 Executioners before deciding to nix that fight and kill the Feeler.

The day was Darksday and it was on a lower percentage of the moon phase. So word of warning Darksday is a horrible day to try and get Alastor and you don't want a sad Taru Blm ; ;

This guy casts Quake Stonega III Stone IV Stoneskin and Breakga. Uses the norm Antlion attacks. Immune to all debuffing spells and songs other then Gravity (Tested with ES+Enfeeble) Also had 2 BRDs and nothing from them was sticking. Has an amount of Magic Defence Bonus so BLM spells dont go through all the way =/

i have landed slow and blind on it, never landed paralyze. The Feeler Antlion however, is immune to all debuffs. And yes I have fought it more than once, I have fought it close to 30 times, 20 in the last week.

this guy is nutty lol

Our first 4 runs were Easy as heck fights as Alastor popped quickly. The 5th caused a little trouble but a relatively quick pop.

The 6th run he decided to pop 14 Executioners before Alastor. We were low on MP and barely got through that fight.

On our final run... AGAIN the feeler pops 14 Executioners but at a FASTER rate so by the time alastor popped, we were dealing with 3 executioners, a feeler, and alastor....

For that final fight we wiped and everthing despawned except Alastor. We kept claim on Alastor by gravitying him and kiting around rocks and such. Eventually we all recovered and our BLM was so relieved when we finally killed Alastor.

My LS fights this guy on a regular basis, usually 4-7 pumps a run. Anywho.. while fighting the feeler someone CFH. Just to calrify, Alasor Antilon WILL POP if feeler is in CFH mode. Nothing to worry about.^^
Easy For Mages Boring for Melee
# Nov 18 2005 at 9:44 PM Rating: Decent
Nov. 8 4/4 had many ppl show up first pop was funny, we took out add-ons but then the main alliance wiped cuz so many Exe. Antlion's popped from Feeler then Alaster, For about 1.5 hours the Main Alliance kited Alastor all around and then finally we killed it. Then later we decided to pull to zone towards Maze of Shakraimi, which then turned into pretty much a Mana-Burn. Honestly if you arent a Tank or a Mage yer going to find yourself extremely bored.. Team Add-on aka Team Short-Bus eventually got bored and well I wouldnt wanna do ths NM again anytime soon except it works wonders for the mages.

Usually when I run past it's spawn point on the way to Boneyard Gully I see an alliance fullwiped in the crater. My ls kills this guy from time to time and he isn't that hard. Makes me wonder about the quality of ls's nowadays.

It might go without saying, but this guy will spawn normally even if somebody in your alliance messes up and calls for help on the Feeler, as this happened to my alliance.

Alastor spawned about 5 minutes after someone accidentally called for help on the Feeler, and we were able to claim and kill the Alastor, getting my pair of Rostrum Pumps. Excellent.

I went with my LS for this fight this past Sunday (2-Oct-05). We could only muster 18 people. From what I had read on Mysterytour, 18 should be enough. Fortunately, most of the people in our LS are level 75. Since 4 Blm's wanted this, we have 4 Blm's in the alliance. (Btw, the Feeler Antlion will die pretty quickly with 4 Blm's full nuking.)

We had 6 people who wanted these.. So, we fought this thing 6 times. This was our first time with this NM so, we had to figure out how to fight it.

We got lucky for our first fight, it summoned an Executioner Antlion then the Alastor Antlion. It was a bit dicey since it was our first fight, but we were able to kill them off fairly quickly.

Our 3rd and 6th fight were really easy, it summoned the Alastor Antlion first. These fight lasted all of 10 minutes.

Our 2nd and 4th fight the Alastor Antlion was summoned 3 or 4th. These weren't too bad..

Our 5th fight was the fight from h*ll. It kept summoning Executioner Antlions after Executioner Antlions. It also linked with the Tracker Antlions that were in the area. At the worst of it, we had 4 Executioner and 3 Tracker Antlion chasing us around. People were dying left and right, eating R1's and fighting when weakened. I'm sure many of us thought we would wipe on this fight, but it finally did summon the Alastor Antlion. Everyone did an amazing job and we pulled it out for a win. This was the most fun I had in a long long time.

---

Our strategy:

Have a few melee's fight the Feeler Antlion with a Nin tank.

Once the first Antlion pops, everyone disengages the Feeler Antlion and the Nin kites it.

If the summoned Antlion is an Executioner Antlion, have everyone go kill it ASAP

If the summoned Antlion is the Alastor Antlion, kill the Feeler Antlion ASAP then work on the Alastor.

What really helped us was that we had a high level Bst with us. He was able to use the Tracker Antlions in the area to aid in our fight.

R Pump run
# Oct 02 2005 at 11:32 PM Rating: Default
Our ls just did it on Sunday, 2 October 2005. We won 3/5. It was our first run. No one has ever fought this HNM before.

We got wiped on our 1st run. People attacked Feeler ant and it got many TPs. Alastor popped at first. Feeler popped so many Executioner Ants. BELIEVE ME OR NOT, Feeler Ant popped 2 Alastor Antlions!! Two HNMs surely wiped us. I really shocked. Maybe it's possible to get 2 R Pumps by 1 Ant Trap. But how do we handle 2 HNM Ant Gods? -_-

Second R Pump run. Things went smoothly until Alastor NM popped. We couldn't kill Feeler fast enough. It popped many Executioner Ants. Two Alliances got wiped again. Lucky this time, Feeler only popped 1 Alastor.

After losing 2x, we refined our battle plan. We won our 3-5 run w/o any problem. Here is our battle plan. I hope it can help ls that will do R Pump run for their mages ^_^

NM info
Alastor Antlion is HNM. Don't expect to win it with random pickup people from Jeuno. You can only win it with a sky/HNM ls. It's harder than HKTK for O Hat.

No need stun order. Alastor Ant resists to Stun. You can not Sleep Feeler and Alastor Ant. But you can Sleep Executioner Ant.

Feeler Ant move:
Sandpit: summon Executioner Antlion
Sandblast: summon Alastor Antlion
Venom Spray
Mandibular Bite

Alastor Ant move:
Breakga (AoE petrify)
Stone IV
Stonega III
Quake

Battle Plan
Party 1:
NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
WHM/SMN
RDM/BLM
Free DD job
Free DD job

Party 2:
PLD/WAR
PLD/WAR
WHM/SMN
RDM/BLM
Free DD job
Free DD job

Party 3:
6 DD mages: BLM/WHM or SMN/WHM

Party 4 (link control party):
Need as many BSTs as we can have and all the other people join this party. Put the other CURE mages in this pt.

Party 5 (link control party):
If you still have people, form party 5. Put the other CURE mages in this pt.

Party 1, 2, and 3 form 1 Alliance. This will be the main Alliance. Party 4 and 5 form Alliance. This will be the Link Control Alliance

After someone trades an Ant Trap, Feeler Antlion will pop. Two NINs tank the Feeler Antlion. All 2 alliances stay away, DO NOT attack it. Feeler Ant can summon 2 kinds of pets: Sandpit will summon Executioner Ant or Sand Blast will summon Alastor Ant (HNM). The summon Pet is TP move.

Two NINs slowly give TP to Feeler Ant. Let it pops the pet 1 by 1. If it pops Executioner Ant, assign someone to {Call for Help} and 2 Alliances wipe it ASAP. You also do {Call for Help} for the Feeler Ant so that if it pops Alastor Ant, 2 alliances can wipe it fast. Don't worry, the summoned pet will still have white color name.

If Feeler ant finally summons Alastor Ant, 2 NINs must kite it away from Feeler Ant. WHM and RDM in NIN party must act FAST to do Stona and keep 2 NINs tank alive. Two Alliances wipe the Feeler Antlion ASAP so that it won't pop pets anymore. After Feeler Ant dies, things become easier. Two NINs keep kiting the Alastor NM. We need to kite it so that it uses less Breakga. Stay away from Poison Plant near the ??? Camp. Main Alliance attack Alastor NM, just like when we fight the 4 Gods. Link Control Alliance handles the pop Tracker Ants.

Good luck. I hope my post can help if people want to do R Pump run.

Just got this now.

It.s F10 on souther part of map below Kabbukkas claws, against the wall.

When you enter chasm, don't go over the first chasm, go left into tunnel and when you come out sneak up and follow left wall at all times.

Revelation did a run for these pumps on 09-05, there were a couple of us who had farmed jaws earlier in the week for the traps. Of course we staretd late and the melee all got sidetracked going "OMG IT'S XOLOTL LET'S KEEL IT!11!11!" so we had to do that first--p But eventually the run was underway.

The melee totally wiped the Feeler antlion out on the first run before it had the chance to pop anything, with many cries afterwards of "omg I thought it would be harder." So just have the NIN(s) melee it to give it TP -.-; We had a BST there as well, so he had his antlion attack it as well.

The other runs went relatively nicely, I think we had one wipe out of four or five runs due to the fact that one run the Feeler was popping out Executioners way too quickly and we had about three of them up and the NM at the same time. The NM Alastor itself isn't too hard; the added effect: petrify to its normal attacks is an annoyance but if you have an attentive WHM(s) it's not bad. I expected Breakga to be spammed alot more than it was.

On a BRD note -- Cappricio worked EXTREMELY well for me in resisting or helping resist petrify, so if you have a BRD in your party/parties, you might wan'na ask them to throw that up just in case.

On my run personally the Alastor was the very first thing that the Feeler summoned, but other runs it took three or four; I think one took six. We all had NQ traps, so.

Cross-posted a bit.

We were 8/8 on this fight last night. Popping the executioners and the Alastor is a TP move. Just one NIN hitting it is not going to kill it because of it's massive regen. With only a NIN attacking it, the NMs popping were pretty slow. Once the Alastor popped and we all started hitting the Feeler to kill it, it popped an Executioner 5 seconds later.
