Vana'diel Bestiary: Silverhook

I rode the boat from Mhaura to Selbina and then back to Mhaura, and on that second ride (I was thinking I'd be there forever) the pirates spawned! The boat captain's name was Sahn, by the way. I got my Sand Charm off the first Crossbones I killed and then I saw Silverhook. I'd wondered why a group of four 75s was getting back on the boat with me -- they got down to about half their life near the end of the battle and it took a good ten minutes, but they killed him. We asked if they got the club drop, but they wouldn't say. Needless to say, I'm just glad I didn't die.
went out with some people from the LS orginally just to get revenge on Sea Horror, but after waiting 3 hours with no Horror, we decided that this would our last boat ride for the evening. sure enough we got pirates on the last boat, saw a SMN on the pirate boat in a vermy and saw Silverhook spawn.
took him on with 72WHM, 60WAR, 60DRK, 60RNG, 60SMN, and we had a 38DRG along for the ride. the DRG took care of the crossbones on the boat and we actually got Silverhook down to about 20% before we all died. although we wiped it was still a fun fight and gave us a new goal to achieve as an LS.

I was on the ship helping a friend get to selbina at lvl 10 and i decided to ride the ship again for the fun of it im a lvl 69 mnk/thf and saw this guy he poped with the other pirates there was a high lvl rdm and whm on the boat we partied up and killed it i passed on the club because its rare/ex but i can conform that the skeleton uses ancient spells and regular skeleton abillties such as blood saber i can also confirm that a lvl 70 rdm whm and mnk can take this down with very little problem good luck to all of you trying to get this club ^^

Good WHM/NINs with good club skill and gear that is %haste&melee oriented can solo this one, it's fairly easy if you keep Barwatera up.
Waterga III is the only spell that is VERY lethal, even if Thundaga II is also quite strong, it is not near as bad as Waterga III, Single target spells are absorbed by Utsusemi.
This one is easier than Blackbeard, differences are very small, with the exception that Silverhook has quite less hp.

Silverhook spawned with the pirates about 10 days ago and since I had never even heard of this thing I thought a lvl 56thf/nin could take this thing. I used a Ranged attack from the steps of the ship. Silverhook began casting Freeze, took off all 3 shadows and hit me for 1163 damage in 1 shot. I only have about 900 HP so you can guess what happened. I was laying quite dead on the deck.
So heed this warning, if your a lvl 56 or there abouts in any job, don't even think about atttacking Silverhook or Blackbeard, just (Run Away) downstairs as quickly as possible. I guarantee that the best player at this lvl will DIE. Also, these 2 mobs will come up the stairs and into the navigation room and kill EVERYONE on board without sneak oil on. I watched it happen and the ferry was covered with dead bodies.
So heed this warning, if your a lvl 56 or there abouts in any job, don't even think about atttacking Silverhook or Blackbeard, just (Run Away) downstairs as quickly as possible. Been on boat for about 25 hours and he finally pops. I died... lol
He's not easy to solo as whm/nin but deffinately doable. Uses Ga-2 spells, ancient magic, AoE drain, and hell slash. If/when you claim, pull to back of boat to avoid having other pc's give NM health back. Only died cuz he stunned me while shadows down.. /fume

Saw this while going to Mhaura with my brother. It aggros by sight I assume since the lvl 66 SAM who was fishing had sneak on and was whacked to death in 6 hits. I got floored in 4 hits as a 55 DRK. He then aggroed my bro (30 PLD) and 1-shot him with some -ga spell for 600+.
Maybe that Rdm wasn't very good? I took this ***** down about 1/5 of the way and I went as a Whm/Nin... Guess I better get my ls to back me up? Heheheh.

Yeah I encountered this guy yesterday, GL soloing it we saw a 75 Rdm get killed by it. Didnt even take off 1/4 of its life off.
Is this one as hard as Blackbeard?
