my g/f and I were leveling our NPCs in the path fairly near the Glacier zone minding our own business...about 20 minutes into leveling our NPCs I see a lvl 60ish BLU running and hit the ground and I saw the head of a Dragon peeking around the corner...I'm a 75 BLM and love to kill the Shadow Dragons when I get a chance...so as I start to round the corner I see his name is Biast..not Shadow Dragon...so I panic and start calling for people in the ls to come and help and it was fairly late at night so not much help could come..most people were in parties and/or too low of a level to help...so I decided to chance it and I ES Sleep II to claim it and was surpised that he went night night...I started checking my friend list and got one of my lvl 75 WHM friends to come help out and she brought along 2 other people..a 73 DRK and 75 NIN...my g/f was 49 WHM at the time so I had her run away from the battle so she didn't get killed...anyway it took about 15 mins for me to get some help and for them to arrive as I slept it easily with Sleep II over and over without any resists...between the 4 of us we destroyed it and the Helm dropped^^ they all passed on it to my suprise so I ended up with the helm as a trophy...now I gotta level DRK and/or BST to be able to put it to some good use ;o) lol...thank you to all that helped...you know who you are since you don't wish to be named lol :oP[sm][/sm]

Whm in my ls tonight, goes to OP in Xar. and sees a Dragon standing around.. she asks about it, and everyones busy. So, as I was waiting to kill avatars for someone else, I decided to go see what we can do.. Well, a 75rdm/nin and a whm can duo him ^.^ Terror sucks, Pet. is not that bad, Para lasted about 5mins on the whm (after it was dead)
She cure'd / hasted, i melee/tanked.
Not that hard, only got like 621gil, and 20exp, no helm. Normal buffs, and just melee'ed it to death, kept it para/slow/blind'ed, didnt really have any problems.

I was farming Ice Elementals as THF75/RNG37 and killing Shadow Dragon whenever it popped. I was aware of the possibility of a Biast pop, but didn't think it very likely. My first couple Dragon kills I waited to see if Biast popped, but I gave up on that. Flash forward to the next kill, I turn my back and go looking for my next elemental and of course there's a -whack- -whack- on my back. I panic and hit alt+tab for no real reason. I get back to the FFXI window and Biast is still swinging at me, so I load up a sleep bolt and fire. Naturally, as part of my alt+tab snafu, I had targetted a Lost Soul. So now I've got a pissed-off Dragon and a skeleton (every dagger-wielding Thief's best friend) tag-teaming me. I manage to put Biast to sleep, but the skele won't go out, so I head for Pelogrant, the teleporter. Of course, I can't get a dialogue going with a pack of bones harassing me, so I turn to face Biast and my fate when a RDM appears and heals me. I'd already begged my LS to come help, but it was 5AM, so nobody was on. Desperate, I invite the RDM and she works on the skele while I take some more beatings from Biast. His accuracy was so-so, though I wasn't exactly packing heavy evasion gear (no torque, no SH). Someone else, a BST60 starts casting a few heals, so I bring him into the fold as well, and he lets his funguar familiar take a few cracks and helps with a little healing. By now, the Lost Soul is dead and we are focused, but running low on resources. Another passerby stops to help heal, so naturally I invite them too. Finally, a WHM stops by and joins in, and between the 5 of us, we manage to take Biast down and the helm drops. I expected at least one of the patched-together team to lot against me, but to my great surprise, they all passed. So a big thank you to the 4 kind souls who not only saved my ***, but let me have this ugly (but useful) headgear.

Well, been farming Ahriam(sp?) Wings in the castle and camping NMs as brd/whm at lv 62, and whenever i get to i kill shadow dragons. I was woundering, i do have decent gear, but could I be able to sleep this guy until help arrives from ls, maybe 5mins of Kiting? I can have up to +52 CHR + Lullaby+2, and only 8 levels lower than this. Think it'd be possible?

It sleeps very easily. I held it solo for about 6-10 minutes while waiting for backup to arrive and it never resisted lullaby once. Triod with RDM and a SMN in about 15 minutes with no problem.

Well for today i did not expect this to pop. Story goes:

After porting away from Behemoth's dominion after an unsucessful claim to behemoth we arive in Xarcabard. Everyone pretty much disbanded and OP warp to their respected HP. I just realised that i could go to eldime necropolis and hopefully find the ??? for the mea scroll quest. As i headed to beucedine glacier I saw the shadow dragon. I did a <t> found it and so the whm port back to xarcabard to fight this thing. I Being 75BST/37 RDM proceeded to kill this thing off. Oh we did kill this thing but the unthinkable happened. Biast POPPED 5 secs after Shadow Dragon is dead. The bugger killed the whm in 2 hits while bravely ranaway. I forgot i still have Courier Carrie with and set here to fight the NM while I try to head for the OP. Man that was very ridiculous but the quetion is does this thing ACTUALLY pops after Shadow Dragon or is he a lottery pop?

was heading through xarcabard to camp nue as a mnk/thf when i saw this guy. I asked my friend how hard it was, and he told me it was lvl 70. So i use my warp scroll and head back to jeuno to switch to nin sub, in an attempt to solo it.

My 60 Whm friend had just logged on, so i asked her if she would help me kill this nm. So we both got to xarcabard, but couldnt find Biast when we got there. Eventually we found him near the zone to Beaucidine Glacier, where someone had obviously got agro and zoned him.

So i engage him and kill it in about 8 mins total. He is quite annoying as he intimidates you quite alot. Im not sure about him being lvl70, as it missed me quite alot, which is rare for a mob only 5 levels below me. I also had hardly any of my evasion gear with me, except scorpion harness and optical hat.

Nin thf or Mnk/nin can duo this very easily with a mage for support. Nin or THf can probably even solo it.

After the relatively long fight, we got a few thousand gil, but no helm ; ;

I was going to Qu'bia Arena, when I saw some Apathy members come out of the tele crystal, and when I went south, I saw about 10 people killing this thing. That's pretty great, the helm that is.

Both somepage and alla say this guy links, but I'm sorta wondering... links to what? The shadow dragon is dead before he pops, so... like... yeah. What the heck does he link to? :D

I think me a few of my friends where the first NAs to actually try this but(was quit a while ago btw)... We where walking by (me NIN LvI think Lv69 at the time) was me a WHM (59ish) and a SAM(70) we killed im fairly easy o_O Almost died a few times but we won..no drop though
