First time i went as NIN/THF i went 0/7, i came back one week later and stayed up late and went 1/7.

Easy solo as NIN/THF, you will take some damage from its whirlwind type move, i forget what its called, each battle i lost about 300-500 hp, about 6-7 mins fights, its aoe move does paralyze you too which is the biggest problem for me.

So a total of 1/14, not sure if its worth all that but whatever i am happy now.

EDIT: as some people already said, this DOES NOT link with other rabbits here and you can fight and the back of the area you spawn it without any agro from raptors, i was there for about 8 hours without ever getting agro.

Me (75 BST/NIN) and a LS mate (75 BST/WHM) duo'd Black Coney with ease using 2 local Raptor pets, and on occasion one or both of our Raptors would die, so we would then finish off Black Coney with local bunnies.

Went 1/7 and I have my Selene's Bow for my RNG (currently 57) that I will DING into once I hit 60. Can't wait.

Black Coney is absolutely soloable by a 75THF/NIN, just need a good eva set for ichi and a nice haste set for ni. And taking out your NPC helps too. I found that paralyze itself was pretty weak, didn't really proc much so you should be okay without a -na spell, my npc didn't cast it once on me. Problem is the move goes over shadows so you get hit for like 150ish dmg. a High marks skill and some BB's should cover that. Blind is your friend because it smooths a fight down so you don't get too many scares.

White coney on the other hand, is a ****. Spent 50minutes trying to kill that thing.

Wrong Section, but NM wasn't too hard either. Done with a 75war/nin and a 75blm/whm, paralyna is really important though if you plan on doing this guy.

Anyone have stories of killing this NM WITHOUT a level 75 job? That's all I read about. 56 Ranger now, and I want to get this at 60, but this is my highest job. Would a party of 60's (my friends) be able to take this? Can I do anything outside of leveling without this, or shouting for high level assistance?

UPDATE:

1/4 on Black Coney. Beat it as 57 Ranger with Extreme Assistance from Tav on Siren, 75 Ranger.

I tried to help on the first fight, which only woke him up (sleep bolt method) and almost killed Tav, so yeah Tav solo'd the rest. I would shadowbind if he woke up, and we had no problems after that (but Tav is extremely well equipped)

Thanks a lot Tav. Good luck everyone else!

Duo'd DRG75/SAM37 WHM75/BLM37.

Seigan works a treat. Drg's EVA is pretty laughable, but with the signet bonus to Defence and Evasion, most DDs should be able to duo /Sam or /Nin with a support (Whm, or Rdm)

Bunnies don't link. Raptors Aggro and con DC to 75. 15 minute respawn so take that time to kill the raptors :P

1/3 ^^
Chiropterra Dagger, Selene's Bow, all I need now is Franciesca and Othanius' Bow...

Just finished a nice evening out with the Black Coney. We went 2/6 on the Bow, and had very little (no) trouble with the fight. The setup was...

75NIN/WHM (yes, /WHM lol)
75BLM/WHM
75SAM/THF (me)
71SAM/THF
74BRD/WAR (for the last 2 fights).

Essentially, the key to winning for us was to just avoid getting aggro from the raptors. The rabbits around the area do not aggro of course, and they do not link with the Black Coney. The hardest part was actually getting the mob to pop because the 'rabbit footprints' shift around quickly. We waited for it to pop in an area that was far from the raptors to ensure a safe pull, and I charged in with my macro blazing. The macro to pop it made it 10x easier.

/item "San d'Orian Carrot" <t>

After that, the NIN pretty much straight up tanked it, and then we did a Fragmentation SC and Burst II Magic Burst for 4500-5000 damage on it (SATA Tachi: Yukikaze >>> SATA Tachi: Gekko = Fragmentation).

That pinned hate on the NIN and took about 60-70% of it's HP it seemed, so it worked out very well. Bow dropped on the 3rd and 6th fights I believe.

As other people have mentioned, the Black Coney never did Wild Carrot. It did, however, use it's AoE a lot, and it did cause paralyze, so be on the lookout for that, but it still seems this one would be much easier than the White Coney. The NIN could have (and has) fought it solo before, but this was a lot more fun, and we managed to snag 2 bows for the price of some carrots and a bit of time.

Good luck to everyone out there.

well, here's my story about my time spent in ulegrand range trying to get this bow, hopefully it will give you some insight on it

day 1: BLM/RDM BLM/RDM RDM/BLM SAM/RNG (me)
we started late, and people left early. we went 0/14 and called it quite

day 2 part 1: BLM/WHM RDM/BLM SAM/THF (me)
we started early, and went 0/10. i was on both RDM and SAM, however i didnt really do anything on SAM except kill it.
total: 0/24

day 2 part 2: BLM/RDM RDM/BLM THF/SAM (me)
we came back around 2% going upwards and i tried my luck with TH2. i tried for finishing blow and we went 0/5, bring us up to 0/29. i ate a lucky egg, got finishing blow, and got a hare meat. by this time it was last call, and so we popped the last black coney, finishing blow, and got the drop.

1/31, many many hours of infomercial watching late at night and into the morning... good luck if you go for the black coney

okay Guys, 1/4 on this guy, 2nd fight we died. 74 DRG, 75 THF, 59 DRG. its Whirling Claws Is Deadly >< specially if you're the ranger. Anyways, This guy aint so bad except if he takes your shadows and Foot Kicks you, does about 600+. Ended up getting some help from a couple JP Chars passing thru (WHM and PLD 75) and Got the drop on the 4th kill with thier help. If you going to fight this guy, you need a mage.

This is soloable by a 75 bst as well. Even though Nival Raptors hit for more damage I'd suggest charming the rabbits since the charm rate on raptors are fierce.

Just wanted to say this is not BST soloable. The NM does the wild carrot move so frequently your pets will never be able to kill him.

Sleep nuke is really the reliable solo methode.

this is soloable by bst just solod it 3 times the other day it is white coney that heals itself not black coney the truth is black coney is very easily solod by bst raptors do very good dmg agaisnt it but are fairly tough to charm the rabbits do very good dmg as well but die much faster

This rabbit does not use Wild Carrot, you are thinking of the White Coney.

This rabbit doesn't use Wild Carrat.

The rabbit that does is called White Coney.
strategy

0/4 so far

Once the footprints spawned somewhere close to the wall, I traded, moved back and immediately shadowbound and acid bolted it.

after that I would use sleep bolts until 300% TP, and shadowbind cooled off.

then shadowbind -> slug -> sleep bolt -> barrage -> sleep bolt and if bind has not worn off, fire off another slug and immediately sleep bolt.

Once shadowbind cools off again repeat it if you feel comfortable trying that.

I did it at lvl 73 which meant no Ni, but if i was 74 it probably would have never touched me.

Use sushi because missing is not an option, i missed 2 shots in a row, it woke and immediately used AoE claws, then triple attacked (or double attacked..not sure).

Hit me @ lvl 73 for 90~120 dmg, bringing potions can be a good idea, got me to red hp once.

Using WS on it isn't needed.. just makes the fight go much faster, GL on drops ;o rate seems bad

I had no problem soloing this as rdm74/blm37. Very well behaved sleep-bind-nuke mob. Bit more patience I think any rdm or blm over 70 could take him. Didn't resist or wake early once, and Blizzard III was doing 588 (rarely resisted). Took about 16 of those to kill it. I suggest only one nuke - he nearly always came unbound as I was casting the second. Occasionally bind wore a bit early, but blink and stone took care of it. I got a bit lazy with blink/stone and took a few hits, but they were only doing about 100 each. Gave him enough TP for 1 Whirl Claws, but didn't get through a fresh Stone.

As long as you stay at the south wall the raptors don't bother you (although they liked to look like they were getting close). I suggest you wait a few mins to make sure the place you've chosen is clear of them. The other hares don't aggro or link to the NM, so you can take your time and relax. Also the Rabbit footprint jumps around - don't get impatient and run after it, as the raptors are pretty sneaky and there's 4-5 of them around. Let it come to you.

Oh, and 1/2 on the bow. Made the mistake of telling my LS though - so I'll be back...
