First, THF40/NIN20.

Compared to that stupid Skeleton, this guy was NOTHING.
Went in by myself... Cast Utsusemi [Again, since it stripped me], and engaged. Much more accurate than I expected, but the fight switched to the cutscene just as he was about to maybe hit me once. He had about 75% health at the time... Definitely not halfway.

NPC came in, provoked it, and I stayed behind the enemy until my SA timer kicked in. Finished it off shortly after hitting it with a SA+Viper Bite.

Certainly didn't do it fast, but I was never in any danger with this fight.

Soloed a 56nin/23whm (capped down to 40/20)
Fight went well, was owning him, then the cutscene where npc happens and we go into the fight. get him to about 25% the moment I reach 100tp he petrifies me... it lasts for over a minute and a half... finished the fight with myself having ~200hp (out of ~700) and the npc with like 10% life left. had that killed me I would have been seriously pissed. I think the main problem was I had agro on the mob so it was facing me instead of my partner so it petrified me instead of her. If it wasnt for that I so would have owned the record clear time Smiley: cry

Anyways, hit for like 20-30dmg on me, but missed me a TON. never needed to cure during battle at all. proly could have subbed war or mnk for the hp/def etc and been a-ok. fortunately most good nin gear is <40 heh wore my RSE chest/legs to repalce brig and AF1 problem solved. Have fun!

If you're a good reader, and you see baleful gaze or whatever the petrify attack is go up, you can unlock and turn away from the mob and you won't get petrified.

EDIT: Just went to kill the dragon. First try was unsuccessful, but I learned from my mistakes and won the second time. NPC came in after the only damage I had dealt was from Dia II the first time. Don't bother putting debuffs on the dragon before the cutscene, because they will wear during it. My biggest problem was the nasty paralysis you get from Heavy Stomp.

I went there as a MNK30/WAR15 just to test how hard it is. Then I thought "why not a full attack?"...
This was my strategy: I used Meat Mithkabob, Focus and Dodge and attacked him. Used Hundred Fists and soloed him down to half of his HP. Then NPC came and we both killed him (Finishing Move: Berserk + Boost + Combo = 181 Damage).

Pfft...I solo'd this thing as a 32 MNK and a buddy of mine took it down as a 34 BLM. My strat, get in there, hit a few times, toss up Hundred Fists and let 'er fly. By then the NPC will come in voke it and then it is owned.

His strat was to go in, cast a few spells, Manafont and spam his strongest spell. Yet again, down in an instant, NPC comes, blah blah...you -DO NOT- have to be 40 to do this end-quest NM.
this wasnt too bad

I was having trouble as 40 PLD cause i couldnt use my sword =/, i was using a staff, as soon as my NPC came it was cake, i never took any real DMG, just had to keep my NPC well and cure a few times, overall he was a wimp, and not as hard as everyone made him out to be

Soloed this as a 33rdm/blm
first fight was lost due to petrify ; ; he then went on to take out my galka chum.
tried again with the same setup and won without too much difficulty. used a couple of grape juice just to keep momentum going through the fight kept the NPC healed and wore him down.

Tried this 2xs,

1st DRK, don't ask, was lvl 30, delvl to 29

2nd was more interesting,

WAR 31/ NIN 10
i know its gimped sub

Defender ON! At begining the fight, it was owning me, then NPC came in. Things went pretty smooth, until I popped in a Hi-Potion+1, then NPC provoked. Bad, Bad, Bad!It had so much hate on me! it *thoought* of killing me first, so there went hit wing-wind move. Not bad, but had low HP. 2hr wasn't rdy,so I was losing badly. Then... BOOM! Dragon doubled attacked NPC. She had 50% left, I had, well, 20%. Dragon had about 30% health. Then, the horror. Dragon used Heavy Stomp, took my HP to ten, then... I died. Never used petrify which was good.

BUT it is possible to kill this thing at lvl 30 (WAR/gimped NIN sub)

All you need is one icarus wing (optional), 2-5 Hi-potions (or any other HP healer, a MUST HAVE!), boiled crab (or something, so it doesn't hit you so much), petrify potion thing, and 2hr rdy. All about 20~60k

1st, pop in a boilded crab, then defender.
You will have high def, but low attack. Keep holding it off until NPC arrives. By this time, use Raging Axe. When NPC arrives, use mighty strikes. It prolly have you down to 300 HP by now. Use 2 Hi-potions, then repeat Raging Axe it, Hi-Potions, and KILL!

Until my next edit...

EDIT: woops! forgot about this post! killed it solo with gimped sub! yah!
go me!

I am a lvl 29 war/mnk trying to kill this dragon. I had bad luck at first but earlier today it looked like my luck changed. I got the dragon down to 5 hp but when my npc wasn't petrified he would not voke it off of me so i died. Every other time i used no 2hr and let npc tank for whole fight and got it down to about 1/4 of its hp. I'm just wondering would it be possible to solo this dragon at my lvl using Mighty Strikes+Berserk? (Also i tried using potions and hi potions but it didnt work and i bought every one in the ah)
solo?

Any lvl 40 should find this to be cake,

fought it today, Could not have took more than a min minus the cutscene halfway through, Hundred fists (used it just for fun, and to have the fight go faster) was still active by the time I got out of the BC, and i used that about 5 seconds into the fight...

Didnt do any damage that chakra couldnt heal

Am I the only one who's lost to this dragon...?
I went as 35NIN/WAR, and I was defeated both times due to his petrify attack. Petrify lasts for a full 10 minutes... i watched the clock.
My second fight, he used this move twice, on me and the NPC. I watched in agony as he slowely killed us both.

I'm not a crappy player, I've had 2 years of experience playing this game. Has this mob's move been strengthened in a recent patch? or am I just that unlucky?
pretty weak for a dragon

Fought this a few days ago. I was actually pretty worried about the fight, as I assumed he would be difficult to take down, but of course, he was'nt.

All together he took 90hp off of me, and about 100 off of Kolokoko(NPC). Horrible accuracy, and super weak attack. I had brought all kinds of supplies(Pear Au lait, Mithkabob, Potion), and I really did'nt need any of them at all. He does have quite a bit of HP, but his defense is just really weak. I cant imagine that any job(at cap) would have any trouble with him.
What a Joke

Owned it with my lvl 36 SAM. I didn't really know it would be that easy. My LS told me it was easy...but then again they are all high lvls. So I used a rice dumpling and my 2hr., then meditate and a couple of WS's....Ferdinand and I both had Dragon Steak sandwiches shortly thereafter. Don't sweat this battle too much. It is way easy.
Schooled

So yea after some convincing from my LS me and 3 friends set out to get our NPCs. I was lvl 55ish drk so I was ill worried about it. So then they are like you guys are capped for the next fight. SO me and my Samurai friend are like we are not spending ANY money on this. Scrounge through the MHs for equip we can wear and head out. Argueing a bit on whether or not he does Meikyo Shisui or not....he wins does it...we set the record. With *** equip and 2 people. SO if ur 40 your fine
Easy...easy

35THF/NIN...idiot dragon didn't even strip the first cast of utsu till after my NPC showed up. Only reason I was even taken down into yellow HP was because I waited till after all my shadows were gone to recast and was interrupted a few times.

As every other BLM has said, this is really easy. I forgot i couldn't use one of my macros after running around for 30 seconds. Never in danger of dying either. The best thing was that my thundaga did 369, which made me feel really good. My friends went in and did it at the same time and only had one dragon. My WHM friend started freakin out since she couldnt use her af maul, and forgot about the dragon. So we all got a good laugh outa that.
easy

Went in as 40 BLM, killed it easily by sleeping and then nuking with -ga spells. Didn't realize I had to be physically attacking it for my NPC to get the hint, so he just stood there the whole time. He's not too bright...

Any Job can easily take it

My friend killed it without any problems as a level 37 WHM. All you have to do is stay alive long enough for your NPC to get there, and you'll be fine.
