History of Stroper ChymeStroper Chyme was once one of the most heavily camped monsters in the game, back when it used to drop Archer's ring, an item used to make Sniper's ring. However, in July 2005 -- in an effort to thwart the profits of RMT -- SE changed Stroper Chyme so that the monster no longer dropped the Archer's ring. Information on that update, which affected other notorious monsters and items, can be viewed at July 19, 2005 Update Notes. Stroper now drops the Shikaree ring, ex duplicate of the Archer's ring that cannot be used in recipes. Stroper can also be found at G-9 and H-10. Probably not. This sucker's way resistant to physical attacks, the only way you'd have a chance is if you just nuked it, and I think the strongest WHM nuke spell is Banish 2 at that level. Maybe if you hit 50 and got holy, but I don't know how resistant it is to light stuff.
Well, there's a problem with the location - there's more than one H-5. There's a couple, depending on where you are in the map. Does anyone happen to have a SC of the map with spawn points?

Can anyone confirm that this drops the Shield Pendant? I killed it 34 times today, and got an archer's ring, plenty of oils, but never a Pendant. I really was only concerned about the ring, but out of curiosity, does anyone know?
it's not the Stroper Chyme you want ... the Stropers drop the pendant ... that's the morbol mobs that run around
i got the ring on my first kill. i came back after my genkai PT and camped a few more times. so far its 1/4
camped it with my friend. got the ring first kill. couldnt of done it without my 2 helpers. almost missed my genkai PT too.
I was camping Morbolger for the vine for the brown belt quest. Finally got it (3 days..) and as I was leaving I saw a stroper chyme just out in the hallway. Nobody around, so I healed up and attacked.
Got Archer's Ring.
I don't even like attacking slime since I'm a monk and melee isn't good against slimes. If I wasn't so excited about getting the Morbolger I wouldn't have bothered.

I think I now have a depressing new record for this damn slime. 24 hours camping, spread over 3 days ( 12 on last day). 101 kills. 0 rings. After 40 or so kills I got pretty damn quick with voke ( had to go blm/war to even have a chance at winning claim) and I killed the majority of the chymes afterward. 0/101 ... geez.
On another note, while camping chyme I also got 2 flame degen, 18 slime oil, and 26 wind clusters ( 21 of which sold in an hour early saterday woot).
Decent money in the end, but DEFINATELY not worth the time. I will continue to camp it... cant let all that time be a waste. Still 100k from my dark staff too ( if i get ring i can get dark and ice :) )

You always hear incredible stories that you think could never happen to you but one actually happened to me and my buddy Cania. This was our 2nd time camping the chyme and we were around 0/27 on drops overall. At that point we had the room spawn all to ourselves when a 63 ninja came in with a train of about 10 bats. Cania told me "These bats are here for a reason." and that's when all hell broke lose. 5 or 6 more 60+'s ran into the room w/ trains on them creating chaos. We had the spawn timed so we knew it was coming and did nothing. They can handle it, full party of 60+'s and at least 2 70+'s. I managed to grab the chyme in all the confusion and finally got the ring. But it came at the price of getting flamed by the high levels. It's ok though because it was all worth it :)

me and a friend went 0/15 last night.
oh well. in 3 or 4 hours we managed to kill the thing 15 times. not too bad. campers came and went but it was never very bad.
and, it spawns in different places, but that doesnt mean you have to roam around guessing where it spawns. I think it spawns every 12 minutes in each of the areas.
and an earlier post made was right, directly across from where you do the pld quest, you are led to a dead end with a cliff you cant get to. it spawns on that cliff, and SOMETIMES below it.

I got the drop last night on my first kill. Talk about luck. Then killed 3 or 4 more with no drop. The ring goes about 290k on my server and Snipper's Ring is about 300k. I already put mine up on AH so I can get the Snipper's Ring. People seems to buy this a lot to craft Snipper's Ring. Althought they are not making much off Snipper's Ring but if they get a Snipper's Ring +1. That is worth 2 million on my server. I was DRK/WAR when I got the drop. No THF sub.
What's this thing's real lvl, i know it cant be 38 cuz when i told my ls buddies i was gonna go kill some *this was a long time ago* THEY FREAKED OUT and told me to stay and wait for like 10 lvls
Slimes are very difficult for melees to fight alone, so even at level 45, this thing rocked me, and it was Too Weak to be Worthwhile

Me lvl 50 Drk/Thf and a lvl 45 Thf were camping this together...got ring after about 8th stroper..killed another 10 maybe then left because I have stuff to do..got Archer's Ring in 40 minutes :D

Last night I camped this with a DRK friend of mine.
He wanted the ring to sell it and buy a snipper ring.
We got it like at the third stroper... He was like "Holy ****!!!"

Camped this last night with my LS. We had 2 people at each spawn point. One is in the tunnel/stairwell, and another is in a small room where napalms spawn. On our 6th or 7th kill we got the drop. As a sidenote we had 3 THF subs for Treasure Hunter 1 and we were all at least lvl 52.

What level do you need to be to effectively solo Stroper as a DRK? I'm 34 at the moment (obviously nowhere near high enough) but I was thinking of going after it at around lvl 40. Is that ok or should I wait more until 45ish... or even higher? I'm usually pretty good at judging mobs' toughness but since there's a widening level gap the higher you get between the monster and you to effectively solo, I'm not really sure with Stroper.
this ring is awesome. it's good for sam and it also sells for alot of cash :) and i like makin money

has anyone tried this with a lvl 45+ THF for TH2? and if so did it make a diference or did you just get 10 slime oils per kill instead of 1

First kill drop, i was a lvl 42RDM/21WHM...treasure hunter seemed to have no effect on this when i tried to camp it later. It was a really random drop. Sells for 220k at AH on Valefor.

How the heck do you get to the cliff (not the bottom of it)?
You have to take the east drophole, then take the tunnel leading east into the other ordelles map. When you reach the intersection head north and you'll hit that cliff in no time. At lvl 38 you'll still agro Goliath Beetles.
Those beetles are not really a problem, because if you have a problem defeating them you don't stand a chance against stroper chyme.

camp this thing in search of an archer's ring. you'll want to kill yourself seventy times over by the time you've had enough.
well, unless your iq is under thirty. then you'll get an archer's ring on the second kill, and you'll be able to sell it like you planned to, since camping drops is about selling them, not getting what you want or need.

Location- Anywhere between H-5 and H-6 on the area of the map with Ancient Bats, Seeker Bats, and Goliath Beetles. There are supposedly other spawn points too, but it spawned here for me 5/5 times. There are 4 maps to this dungeon, so look around for the right one. Look up the Molborger NM on this site. That is the map you should be trying to get to.

5hr camp, too many oils, no competition (which was odd) no archer, yeah, i'm gonna upgrade this from RARE+ seeing as after 50+kills this thing loves ******** oil and only oil >.>

Is IT at lvl 28 so be careful it will massacre you. drops archers ring possibly. with 3 thfs in our group we killed 7 and no ring, so its quite rare drop apparently. it can dro Slime oil tho which it did a few times.
