3 of us camped this sucker last night to help a friend get a ring. We were 0/18 by the time I had to leave. We were spread out over 4 pop spots and it respawned roughly every 90 seconds after dying. One thing that confused me is on more than one occasion, myself and another party member were fighting one at the same exact time (meaning me in one area and him in another, both fighting Stroper Chyme). I knew he wasn't jerking my leg as 10 seconds after I kill my SC, he finishes his and I see "You find a Slime Oil on Stroper Chyme". I was just surprised this happened. Btw, we have renamed him as Jelly McGoo. :D

History of Stroper ChymeStroper Chyme was once one of the most heavily camped monsters in the game, back when it used to drop Archer's ring, an item used to make Sniper's ring. However, in July 2005 -- in an effort to thwart the profits of RMT -- SE changed Stroper Chyme so that the monster no longer dropped the Archer's ring. Information on that update, which affected other notorious monsters and items, can be viewed at July 19, 2005 Update Notes. Stroper now drops the Shikaree ring, ex duplicate of the Archer's ring that cannot be used in recipes. Stroper can also be found at G-9 and H-10. The reason you saw more than one spawn is because Stroper Chyme is nothing more than a normal mob. It's like saying how you and a friend can be killing two goblins at the same time. Wasn't an nm before and isn't one now. Stroper Chymes respawn after 5.12 game time hrs passed its ToD.
woot! after the update, this is no longer camped by gil sellers and people who are looking for a quick buck. Which was mostly everyone camping it. So now when i go to ordelle's cave, I can charm it and farm stuff with it. and it pwns! lol Fluid toss like 200 dmg woot!

No. The Shikaree Ring is Rare/Ex with the exact same stats as the Archer's Ring. The Archer's Ring no longer drops off of Stroper Chyme.
The Shikaree ring is /EX but it is not Rare...

I went to go kill stroper chyme the other day. On my way there as i was leaving the area you fall into from above i turn around and what do i see stroper chyme killed it figuring it aggroed some one and they dragged it there so i go to its pre-update spawn. Forty-five minutes there and no pop. I go back to where i killed it back down the steps, and there it is again. I stay there and kill stropers and gobs and every 12-13 minutes he respawns rt next to the cliff edge. After six kills im the proud owner of the new shikaree ring.

Figured I didn't feel like buying a snipers ring for 900k so I decided I've give "camping" this guy a try. Ordelle's was pretty much empty so I got the claim no problem. Jumped on it a couple times and got the drop. First try, one drop. I went on my merry little way.
Oh, and by the way, these bad-boys are Rare/Ex so don't think about getting two of 'em. Unless Mr. Chyme still drops Archers.

Not true, you can have two. The new ring is EX not rare. If it has a yellow dot you can only have one. Check your beastmen seals if you don't believe me ^^;
Sadly about 1/60 on this with TH. Desperate to get 2 Shikaree rings for my SAM. It's pratically uncamped now so I can usually get a load of claims in one night with no troubles.

I spent 4 hours camping this dude just to see it drop and it drop a Ex ring Shikaree Ring (+2 accuracy +2 range accuracy)
I seriously dont know what everyone's ******** about, I support SE's decision to make the drop rare/ex.
Stroper Chymes have not only been monopolized by Gilsellers on my server the last 8 months, but before that it was being monopolized by botters and being sold for way more than it should have.
As for Sniper Rings skyrocketing, nothing I can say about that, you can expect them to go up, theyve already been selling for 900k on my server and +1's have been seen in bazaars for as much as 7 million. But if you ask me Sniper's rings are overrated for just about any job, and once more people find out how easy the lvl 40 cap ENMs that drop the Woodsman Rings (which are better IMO) those will drop and Sniper's rings will become a thing of the past (Except the +1s, I can see those going up even more than they already have)
As for the mob itself I am now 0 for 49 on Archers/Shikaree's Ring. I dont get how the gilsellers got so many of them, the drop rate is so horribly insane.

believe it or not, I got one of these badboys when it was still an Archer's Ring on the first go. Went down, found Stroper Chyme, killed it, got ring. Was with a 50drk/25war, and I was a 30thf/war15 ^^ uber luck prevails!

I helped a friend get one last night. It DOES drop. I think we were around 1/19ish?
I was a 57THF/NIN friend was a 58SMN/WHM at the time.

To be honest, I've yet to truly run across a straight answer, but for the record, this is a EX ring(the little green/blue dot on item). To me, I would say it would ... but some others will say otherwise and may be right, but I would have to see some sort of wierd fact sheet from run tests to tell you with full faith in my answer.

Has anyone even seen this so called RARE/EX ring? mean alla hasnt even had it posted as a drop for stroper chymes. i sta there camping this thing for a while. since noone else really is there anymore its easy to claim. i killed it 45 times in 1 day and never gotten the drop. only drops i would get were keys and slime oils. this brings me to another question. i have heard a rumor that TH1 or TH2 doesnt affect rare/ex drops. now can someone confirm this. i usually go there as rdm/blm or rdm/nin because of the rumor i heard. i would like to know for sure so i will then go as 60RDM/30THF. please please help me on this.

seriously, how many people here hate gilsellers in ord's cave? and how many of you hate them becuase 1. you can hadly win the claim, 2. you need to make some money, or 3. you need the ring to make it into sniper ring.
Be honest with you all. I'm was mad at them cuase i couldn't get a hand on that ring and i want to make money.

it's EX. acc+2 and ra acc+2
dono if you can use it for sniper ring that is if they change the recipe.. if that's the case it sux... only leather crafter make big money instead of gilseller ;r..

I had ~30 mins to kill before heading over to Morbolger's room, so I figured I'd try for a few Stroper Chymes. Claimed the 1st one I saw with Dia, my main is RDM53/BLM26, and got an Archer's Ring! Ended up missing Morbolger, but I couldn't really complain since I'd gotten a 650k ring from a horribly over-camped mob (or Named Mob, whatever floats yer boat) whose drop rate is even worse than his... over-campedness. Anywho, ended up getting Morbolger's vine (thanks again Uma from Bismark) the following night.
I celebrated my newfound fortune by snaking a few more Chymes from the awful GS'ers before I left that night. My standing record with Stroper Chyme is about 1/8 ^^

BST can charm this guy. It's amusing to do so when you're level 65, with charm-extending full AF. You can hold this guy for a good 35 minutes, and still run around and kill the other spawns.
It also pisses the gilsellers off to no end when you have one of the Chymes, since another won't pop until that one is dead. They'll auto-follow you, and use their bots to constantly spam claim on it. Best thing to do:Send Chyme off a cliff to attack another monster, and when the gilseller auto-follows off the cliff:Gank it back up with Heel. Wash, rinse, repeat.
...or just go sit in a remote area of Ordelles with your pet, go watch TV, and replant Charm every 30 minutes and just hold Chyme.

Which room is the Napalm room? can I have Coordinates? I want to try Hunting Stroper Chyme on my server but I also want to kill Napalm for Flame Degen to get map of Zhval as it's 20k on the AH in Jeuno on my server and I don't want to spend that much on a map.
Anyone think a lvl 46 smn could defeat this thing?
