XP'd these things last night with lvl60 pt. We setup camp @g-12 (narrow strip)These things are a real pain in the ***. They have 2 attacks: Crosswind and WindSear that knocksback party members all over the place. They also have a blink spell that casts like 3 or 4 shadows on them. (can't remeber #) So careful when you wind up with a Muti-hit WS you'll only take off a couple damage. You can cast stun on them, but you need to be really quick! Weapon bash was more effective in controlling their attacks.
oh and the camp i was in was pretty dangerous. We had bard sleeping the mobs but they would pop up all over the place in mid fight.
btw, crosswind is a normal tp move of thier, however windshear can be avoided by not casting magic of the same element as the current day (ie dont cast blizzard on iceday). This is important knowledge for nuke happy blm because it goes against logic abit (more dmg potential for nuking on same day so people usually do it) but this ability really ***** up nin tanks.
this does not appear to be true, Blizzard II from our RDM and Blizzard II from my Shiva didnt do very much damage, Double Slap on the other hand does lots of damage
just a heads up of what I have learned from fighting them
I don't know if I was just lucky or what, but I solo these things a decent amount as 71DRG and usually when I solo I just use my Jumps ASAP for TP. Anyway the Puk was about to do the crosswind attack and I Jumped it and it stunned the attack. Much like the attercops get there TP moves stunned when you Jump them. I will be tetsting this further to see if Jumps always Stun TP moves or only has a very small chance, or maybe it was just a fluke.
If Puks get cast on by spells cast on their day, they will immediately spam a TP move.
Boyfriend and I were duoing Puks on Iceday. He had ice spikes up, and enblizzard, as well as pulling with paralyze. The Puks immediately spammed their TP moves.
It grew unbearable. Boyfriend tried putting shock spikes up and a different enspell. No more issues with TP spammage. When the day changed, he went back to enblizzard and ice spikes and things we're normal.
This doesn't apply to spells cast on self or party that don't affect the mob. We didn't confirm whether or not it happens with non-damaging enfeebles, but I'll save that for some other set of poor shmoes.
guys NEVER use wind spells ws or ANYTHING wind related on these things. they dont take damage they get cured...... i should know i used on 1 during Besiged and it got revived bout 30% and i was thinking "oh crap"
There is either a bug in these Puks, or SE really gave them a silly little feature:
on Lightsday (not sure if day matters), I saw this happen many times: if I cast Dia or Diaga on it, it always triggered a special move. If I kept spamming those spells, it would keep spamming different moves, like AoE Flashga, push-back, Blink, etc...
Also, using wind based magic on it, or wind based skillchain, or just about anything, will give these HP.
I can confirm that they count as dragons/wyverns. I'm a DRG and I've intimidated them repeatedly, and Ancient Circle has allowed other party members to intimidate them.
These have dropped Puk Eggs and Puk Wings for me. The eggs SEEM to be a fairly common drop...I got 4 on about 12 kills while running around with 3 friends. At present I have no idea what to cook with the eggs, though I am trying out various new recipes. No luck so far. The wings are used for Puk Fletchings (lvl 82, Clothcraft) according to Somepage. Recipes are: # Main Skill: Clothcraft (82 - Adept) * Crystal: Wind * Ingredients: Puk Wing x2 * Result: Puk Fletchings x6 * HQ #1: Puk Fletchings x8 * HQ #2: Puk Fletchings x10 * HQ #3: Puk Fletchings x12
