Dahak Picture

Pathos Unlocked

  • Can remove HP and/or MP.

    • This can remove the Pathos of anyone that entered the zone in the party or alliance, even if they have disbanded from the party or are disconnected from the game when the monster is killed.

    • For example, if Player 1 of the party gets disconnected when the monster is defeated, there's a chance of his/her Pathos being unlocked when they log back into the game.

I solo these for the hell of it and although i tend to die a lot theyre pretty fun. ive killed many and have never gotten anything cept gil(2,250 a dahak). 345xp w/ no chain. Grav doesnt get resisted that ive personally seen but it does wear after 4-5 sec occasionally which has gotten me raped. they can double attack and crit and im a taru with latent hp (567 hp) even with phalanx ss blink i get raped instantly if **** hits the fan. Sleep and bind dont get resisted that much with a decent enfeeb setup but Sleep is resisted more often on dahaks than puddins to give you an idea. they're dark based so i think that makes em harder to sleep.

Not sure if these drop any dragon stuff, I helped a couple Blu's get body slam from them for a few hours and nothing dropped, could just be really crappy drop rates though.

I was soloing these as 73rdm/whm sleep >> nuke >> grav.. about a 15-20 min fight 0/2 on any dragon stuff.. but 2kish on gil drop solo.

Right now I'm duoing with a 75 blm np getting about 1-1.1k gil per kill and atm we are 0/5 on any dragon drops.

They arnt to bad when they arnt being a ******* resisting gravity and stuff, Freeze II x2 and a Burst II x1 take him around 50% w/out resists.

Update later when i get a drop of somekind, if i do..

As for the sneak and inviso problem everyone seems to be having, I think it just might be that like other mobs they have a chance of seeing/hearing through sneak and invisible. Hell, it's even in some items descriptions that they are not 100% effective. Had it happen a couple of times, once in Cape Terrigan, had sneak and invisible up and was running to camp when a lizard just turned and attacked me.

Lizards in cape terrigan don't aggro. Must be a glitch.

Could anyone confirm what these things drop? I've seen it posted several places that they drop Dragon Hearts. Just wondering if this it true or not before I gather a group of people to go dragon bashing ^^;

They aren't truesound, I've walked right by them a dozen times with Sneak/Invis up. I'll try standing in front of one later and see if they're truesight, but I doubt they are.

Detecting by low HP is a possibility. I'll force yellow HP and find out if that does it later.

Deodorize has nothing to do with low HP detection, btw. It's a common misconception. What deodorize does is lose your scent so that things that track by scent (crawlers, for instance) will stop following you. Try running through water in the Boyhada Tree after pulling a crawler and you'll see what I mean.

They drop several thousand gil when you kill one, and are rumored to drop dragon talons/hearts as well (rarely). I've only killed a few with a party there, so I couldn't confirm or deny that.

UPDATE: They aggro by sight only. I just stood behind one with yellow HP, no sneak/invis and wasn't aggroed.

I don't about true sight...but I had Invisible up and he still agroed me. I think these guys agro by sound too. You should recheck this.
True Sound

While on my way to fight the Flan for AF2 BLU i had another guy open the gate to get in that back section of Mount.Z we saw the dragons and both put invis and sneak up. He walked behind one of the dragons and it turned around and raped the poor sap. He had full hp so wasn't blood agro must have been True Sound unless they agro by scent in general. Unsure but i know this much avoid these lol.
Dragon Talon?!

I kill these guys easy and quick with my friend when we do manaburn pts there. Supposedly these drop dragon talons also, just what i heard though. I heard that they rarely drop them though. My friend said his ls is like 0/30 on them for talon

because i ran behind it and walked under its hind legs stood there for 2 seconds and then ran back.

so it must be sight and maybe blood. but i dunno

Ive heard this only aggros to sound and blood. I ran in front of one without tonko up and it didnt attack, but I wasnt right in its face either so it could have a low sight range. May be best to use oils and powders until someone *confirms* for sure.

Fighting this is pretty easy. Dahak's are usually VT to level 75, but a good 6 person party can take it down with little problem. It is a fire-based dragon so watch for flame spikes (thornsong) and some breath attacks. It uses Nullsong which will wipe every buff from anyone in AoE range so anyone that wants to keep their sh*t intact (RR3, etc) should keep back. The body slam move is something else to watch for since it tends to drop anyone in range into yellow, orange or red without an issue. Fun fight that grants 200+ xp (no chain or ring) and some gils I think. Goodluck

Im not saying you lied, but -I- ran up to one with sneak and invis just to test it, just to be thusly thrashed mercilessly. Either they agro 100%hp blood(deodorize) or they are true sight/sound.
That's scariness there....

Like I said in the title, that's just really scary looking right there. Everytime I see a pic of these new dragon mobs, I jump in my chair. Just the eyes, the teeth and the skin tone.... man that's just freaky.
