************ what I said before. I aint broke no more. I'm 6/42 on this lil beitch and all my mantles sold. I'm getting everyone on my server pissed and getting it all to myself because I get it at every spawn ^_~. I love this and don't think i'll ever camp anything else.

he spawns @ 20:00 and 24:00 and 4:00 there u go enjoy i gotta log on really quick i mad da mistake of starting chocobo quest @ 1:30 am lol
as long as u kill the second one before 00:15, there is a chance for a third spawn, after that time, there is ussually no chance.

actually......It's more like
1st spawn: between 20:00 and 20:30 (it may show up later, but deffinately before 21:00)
2nd spawn: anywhere between 23:00 and I've seen as late as 1:30. If it shows up anytime after 24:00, it's most likely not coming the third time.
3rd spawn: between 3:00 and 4:00. 4:00 is the end of night so it can't show up after this time (duh). It mainly shows up after 3:30 though.

You have to kill it quickly in order to get 3 spawns in one night. Otherwise you will only see him twice.

Ok. I just posted a nice long story about this guy, but my comp. didn't let it go through cuz I got d/c. That being said, I'm a 45 DRG/WAR, I wanted a Valkyries Mask, and started farming gil in Pashow. That sucked, so I started camping this after seeing my little brother pull 50k away from this guy. So, to make a long story short, I'm now 3/9 on grabbing it off of spawns and 0/3 on my drop rate. Considering this was on my first night, I think I did well. Still waiting for the cash-in though. Anyone want to donate to the "Save a broke Dragoon" foundation, plz /tell Osuka, or just send me any cash you can muster up.
I make my living off of this thing. I was there camping it right after the last server maintenance with one other person who i know from camping it with him, we were the only ppl to get the spook for 8 hours, which was like 20 spawns, and neither of us got a single mantle, i have TH2, and he had TH1 subbed, and he told me that they must have changed the drop rate. i ussually leave there with like 100k worth of martial slacks and mantles, but i left empty handed and havent gone back since. has anyone else had trouble getting drops or have any comment on this?
EDIT: i have gone back many times since this incident and goten mantles, but they do seem to drop less frequently. i have had better luck with the goblin gruel since then though, so i guess it evens out... sorta.

man its so bad on my server, people are actally farming him. The other day i saw that one person had sold three Travelers Mantles in the Jueno AH and the same person was there last night camping him again.

Dude, thats how I make my money. I couldn't afford Pld or Rng or any other expensive job I level without this guy. Hunting NM's and RM's is a lot of peoples way to make a living... whats so weird about that?
Camped this guy for the first time last night. I really wanted to get a Trav's mantle for my SAM. I spend the first couple of times with a crowd trying to get him. No luck for quick awhile. Finally I get him once but don't get any drop. I keep waiting and waiting. Finally people start to clear out and soon it's just me camping him. Tried him a second time...nothing. But the third time I was able to get him to drop mantle and revival root (which I gave to member of LS). So over all not too bad. I am now 1/3 with the spook.

Im really PISSED OFF >< I don't understand it at all, ive been camping this **** for days and days. ALLWAYS thre is someone who has the amazing ability to claim the target before it even finnished appearing. I don't mean the who "cannot attack, target already claimed" message, i mean as soon as i see the spook spawn its already purple.
I don't have a slow connection either. And it can't be a bug cause there were others at the campsight that were puzzled by how impossibly fast the stupid thing was provoked.
The worst part is some girl was able to cast POISON, a spell was able to get the monster as it was spawning.
Sorry im just really bitter right now, ill be at it forever at this rate, there has to be some command or something that targets the spook and bypasses the others.

Then my ls friend comes trotting in and we chat, then he spawns a few minuted later and of course, some1 with a bot gets it. i didnt even see it before she voked it and neither did my ls buddy. so i walk to go see the crypt ghost and as retarded as i am, i didnt know i spawned 3x a night. so on the ls board i here a

just cuz she voked it before u could see it doesnt make it a bot. you could have been lagging, or ur connection could be a lot slower than hers. its really anoying when ppl comlain aobut a bot, just cuz someone claims it faster than them.
i liked the spawn system, but i think they fixed it now so that u dont get "your target is already claimed" as it spawns. i went 28/28 spawns when that was in, and now i only get like 2/3 a night. i camp as a thf/war, and with TH1, i average about 1/4 drops. personally, i love this guy. ^^
I like the new spawn system( I started hunting after it was put in) but i find it easy to get spook when there arent 10 billion ppl camping. Only problem is my f8 wont work so i cant auto target the damn thing...anyone know how i can make it work? -.-

Weird, I was at the tomb the other day, helping someone get the bat thing, and I grabbed spook twice! Only one person was camping it.. xD and I got TWO mantles! I was so happy, and ironically I was a 20WHM/10BLM; It was probably one of the most sucessful days on this game. lol

Yeah.. the new spawn system sucks! I used to claim spook so easy..before.. me and a friend even had our macro/spot set to get spook 95% of the time. But the other night i went there and seen the usuals(people i beat everytime) there. After 3 hours of trying to get spook i never got one. i'd always target it so quick and spam my voke macro, but to no avail it would say "Target is already claimed" I'd get about 3 or 4 of those sayings then BAM. <t> has provoked the Spook. WTF? i just spammed my macro so fast so many times and i get i cannot attack because its already claimed. I asked other people if they get that and they said no. So i thought it was a lag issue...then i thought about my connection speed.. its 100mb/sec. But now i see its a bug in the game...8) takes a load off me.. phew. OH, and spook does still drop TM's.
yeah it seems they changed it like that, cant voke it until its fully there...good for me...claimed it 8 times out of 8 yesterday...no mantle though =(

I was hunting spook again and this time the game turned really crappy. Spook spawned right in front of me and I voked and it said Spook was already claimed. I kept on voking and nothing happened. Then 2 seconds later someone voked it. So now there is no chance of me being able to hunt Spook. Anyone knows why this happens?
its a bug, happened twice to me today. the bug came with the update, they must have been tinkering with spook and messed up something. I am 1/8 now
and whoever said it doesnt drop mantles, it does, i got one today, but i can say anything about the lower drop rate

It's not a bug, it's the new spawn system. Mobs will be "claimed" for a few seconds, giving people with slower load times a chance to see it before it's been claimed by a spammer.
Just do like they do. Once it's visible, target and spam something until it's unclaimed.

Well I have been camping the spook ever since I got the game, but lately there has been a rumor that the spook has
A. A lower drop rate now
B. Doesn't drop mantles any more.
Granted I havent been back for a long time, but my friends have and players there along with my friends say that its dropped and just tonight someone said that 3 people told them (Gossip...uhg!) that the spook doesnt drop anymore. And they believed it cuz they hadnt gotten a drop all day. Could I get any clearification on these rumors on if they are true or not? Thanks. And I'm sure my friends will be looking at this too ^^

Well my story begans as i was leveling my Paladin to lvl 32 and finally leave the dreaded Yhoator Jungle. As I head back to Jeuno I realize that I dind't have enough money to buy new equipment and spells. So then I headed out to King Ranberrie's Tomb. While I was there I was having horrible luck getting the damn Spook. There was a high lvl Dark knight that voked 2 secs before I could so no Spook the first night. Since it was morning I didn't wanted to stand around doing nothing so I went killing gobbies and Land Worms. Then I remembered about Spook's big brother, the Crypt Ghost.... So I was like ok, then I went to camp him. (btw I was the only camper too. ^^) Then before I did anything else i decided to clear away the Tomb Bats. For no reason at all I got the treasure key.(Sweet) But... I was too lazy to look for the chest. Then about 20 mins. later it spawned... BAM! I voked it and we started fighting. This was one tough ghost I got 12xp from it! ^^ But sadly no drop. Then it was night time again and also i could'nt get Spook again. So back to Crypt, omw there I decided to see if Goblin Gruel was there. Surely it was there and I whooped it's slimy ***! Yippie... no drop. Then it was back to Crypt, I was there for about 10 mins. Then another camper came in. DOH! But when crypt spawned he spawned on the other side of the room where the other camper was. I was like NOOOOOOO! but... the dude didn't move an inch. Then BAM! w00t! I got him again! and this time I got the drop!^^ Well now it's back to Spooky. Hehehehe..... Tonight was my lucky night! well... not really i guess. Lets continue on shall we. At 20:21 somtime time around there Spook came out where I was campping, but for some weird reason when spook spawned it sayed Your Targer is already claimed. I was like WTF! then I started to spam vokes on it then 3 seconeds later he was mine! Then at 00:00 he spawned again then BAM! he was mine again! No drop (/cry)(btw the first one didn't drop either><) Then I was about to leave for Crypt but I saw a Bones spawn and decided to stay. 3:53 There Spook was again RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HIGH LVL DRK! BAM! MAHAHAHAHA! I claim Spook once agin because the drk didn't do anything but stood there perfectly still.... Then the screen say: Spook droped a Cotton clothe, Gerz recived a Cotton Clothe. Then I thought no drop again damn it! But then it said: Spook droped a Travler's Mantle, Gerz recived a Travler's Mantle. YAHOO! my first Travler's Mantle!(Like my slacks from Crypt) Then it was off to Crypt but it didn't spawn. Then on the next night I got both Spooks again YAHOO! no drop though and it didn't spawn the third time today like yesterday. Then I got board so I said Bye Bye and loged. Hehehehe I'll be back for that Valor Earing, Goblin Greul just you wait hehehe......
hmm what i usually do when i hunt spook is i bring lots of crafting stuff with me to pass the time so while im waiting to hunt the spook i raise my guild ranks too ^_^

lots of people are complaining about japanese players getting the spook 1st than the north american players. thats always a bummer i know... i got the mantle from the spook 3/7. well if you see some japanese player hunting spook dont try to compete with them when you know you are not gonna win, U are just wasting your time + you are just gonna make your self angry. so if you think you cant win against them go farm something else or try to lvl your character, then go back there and see if someone is camping. pls dont complain if you cant get the spook before someone. just suck it up and live with it. like i did =D
I literally just walked by to see how many people were camping the spook and there were none. it was just sitting there. easy money

i wanna start hunting Spook cuz i need money for my Ninja but i dont know at what lvl i can safely walk through Ranperres Tomb with no aggro. Do any of yu know what lvl i have to be to walk through the tomb with no aggro.
i must be an exeption to all of your stories and oppinions then because i hunted this thing as a lvl 14 WAR with no sub, i didnt use 2hr or anything else except a weapon skill. also, i was the absolute ONLY person camping it, no drop though :(

For 2 reasons.
One, that this mantle sells for around 30k-35k (On fairy)
Two, there is always Nomad's mantle at 24 that sells for around 27k (On fairy)
