Could an 18 WAR/THF kill Spook?

Yes anything above level 18 can kill him... melee wise anyway. However, he will more likely "curse" you and/or you will not kill fast enough to allow for 2nd and 3rd pop if you are below 22-23 or so. 30mins game time or less is prime, and WILL ALWAYS allow time for 2nd and 3rd Pops. TRUTH. I've camped 100's killed 100's and sold many Trav-mantles. Also note, aside telling you how to claim the lil-bugger, the BEST peice of knowledge posted here thus far is this... The lower the lvl you kill him, 17-23 best, the higher drop rate you WILL have, AND TH1 Treasure Hunter triples your drop rate +/- so dont waste your and anyone elses time without it! TREASURE HUNTER is there for a reason!

Yes. Use his Weak element, your Phys-attack may take too long. Or change jobs! You need TH1 anyway for decent drop rate.

I figured out their spawn locations, and spawn times. Then when i had my information i just had provke ready.
i calimed 1/4 but ive gotten

well, while everyone is complaining about their drop rate, i'm happy with my current drop rate. 408/902, i'll probably hit the big 1000 kills sometime this week, i'm Patb on ragnarok server, if anyone wants to come camp against me come on down, i always like a little competition

Got a calculator out(yeah. lame. i know.) and thats 60mil. If u need 60mil, and have no life, and want to spend countless hours getting 1k kills, you are probably a gilseller.
I went last night for the first time to farm this spook since it spawns 3 times an hour.
and thier is a taru there, and he somehow has it voked as it pops cause on my screen he is already claimed as he comes out of the ground.....

he was japanese...they get the game before we do on the signal and he had it voked before the signal even rached you. after all it has to travel over the pacific
i have been camping it for 2 days w/ no success.... i get it most of the time but no drop wtf is wrong lol

A few months ago I stopped camping Spook because too many people were hunting it. My sucsess drop rate was 4/36, so for me on Titan, about 11% drop rate. Back then though it was selling for 21-30k. I look now and see it for 80-100k, and I can't imagine how hunted it must be now! My advice is if you hunt it, make sure you're extremely experienced. Or, hunt it to practice your camping skills. It has such a low area it can spawn in, and the fact you can almost pinpoint the times, this mob will help you keep you on edge. :) Happy hunting all
/em kicks himself. I tried to camp this with my brother last night. We only wanted to get one spawn... that way we couldve gotten the drop without pissing people off. We came into the area and my friend was there who had been trying to get a single pop for hours. He said that there was someone running right outside who had been bringing in bats and other mobs to ***** up the targeting system. I have one thing to say for people who do that... Why the hell do you waste time with this when you can **** people off camping LL, J-E-J, or whatever mob drops <Ochiudo's Kotes>? It amazes me how far people will go-even to the point of ruining other people's gaming experiences-for gil.

lol no way is it punisable + its the only way to beat some JPs on spook voke...its just takes skill and its a common tactic..i dunno why ppl first start to cry then complain and why they just dont deal with it? its the same % of claimin to me as it is to u

Is it me or does it seem like when you find a kick *** claiming method everyone wants to know it and if you don't tell them, they call you a greedy player. It's not my fault you cant put some extra thought into camping/claiming Spook.
There is severaly ways of claiming him. Try to find them out for yourselves, the reason we dont tell you is because you'll just use it against us and we lose our advantage...

Provoke is faster then Dia. The only thing I have found faster then Provoke is the Dragoons jump skill.

ok charm is faster then voke. voke is faster then dia. flash is a nice spell to try with but it doesnt work well unless ur realy good there are a few ppl on seraph who bot this one but most of them suck easily beat i get the drop a good bit bout 1/3 of the time. go find the chest while u wait battle gloves are a nice lil find bout 10k in seraph and crypt ghost and goblin gruel can be found there.

Man this guys drop rate really sucks. I am now 1/20 (-.-). The mantle is now selling for 80+ K on my server (Hades). I can never get the third POP. I am a level 53 thief / 26 Warrior. I can kill this dude in 2 seconds, 1 if my TP is charged. Weather this guy POP’s early (20:01), or late (21 – 22:00), I have never seen a third. I have tried everything.

A word of advice to my DSL players. Connection speed is the key. When I play from home, this guy is claimed before I even see him. When I play from work (T-3 connection), I own this punk. If you’re on DSL and this guy is camped the cable, PS2, and faster connections are gona beat you all the time.

As I have seen, the pop really depends on what day it is. Darksday seems to be the best as I see a third pop the most. As for the connection speed comment, PS2 can't contend with DSL. My brother and I camp this together (he on the PS2 and I on pc with DSL) and 4/5 times I have it pulled before he even sees it. The best thing to do is set a macro for Voke set ONLY for Spook. I tried by spamming voke by clicking and I always caught the Enchanted Bones which pop 10-15 *game*minutes before this guy. Also, face out from the little pillar in the middle.

I got no drop for 20 straight kills...and then got 1 and am back to 10 with no drop...

I'm not sure but I think the drop rates have been changed a bit on Spook. I went about 0/11 last night using charm to claim. I used to get about 1/4 or 1/5. After a few runs I was all alone and claimed by just walking up and attacking. I got the drop back to back.
I apparently really bugged some guy last night because I beat him about 5 times. I don't know, maybe he was just frustrated. He gave me some line about ruining the game for others.
I find that ironic as I maybe camp Spook once every two weeks, camp til I get a mantle and leave after that series. I don't try to monopolize it all day like a few on my server but at the same time I'm not just going to hand it to someone either. Heck... the guy wasn't even facing the tombstone a couple times... and he was in a bad spot when he was. Oh well. You can't please everyone.

ya i get the same problem with targeting but what i do is when the first ding bats spawn by the tombstone i run out and kill everything outside of the wall and run back in be4 the first spawn and then i repeat after spook appears.
My friend and I have fought this thing about... 27 times. So together were 2/27 >_<. I hate the drop rate.

umm this is a ps2 advantage to ***** over those computer players- sry- but buy a rapid fire controller go to menu->job abilties-> go on top of provoke turn rapid fire on and hit X-> it spams provoke so fast the little box on the bottom cant keep up with it and its almost a guaranteed claim- but since i dont like ruining everyone elses experience i only got 1 pop a night if im camping- plz do the same

only way for it not to target tombstone is to put ur camera view on top of ur head so the tombstone is out of the picture but there is still some room so u can see infront of u and both sides...best side for spook is left bottom

Can anyone tell me the drop rate on Spook? I use to camp him a lot and made a decent amount on the mantles. Didn't take me long to get 3 mantles too. About 5-6 game nights depending on my luck. That was when the mantles were only 30k. Now they are 60k and I'm thinking of taking this bad boy down again. Can anyone post the drop rate if they know it or atleast reply to my thread with a #/# ratio you've recorded.

I'm 1/6 on this guy in 3 game nights as Rng/War. (2 per night) This is the macro I use, and it seems to work well.

Also, about the tombstone, what I do is go directly behind it, and back up a few steps and go into first-person. From this angle, you won't target the tombstone, and you can see both sides of it.
