If you have problems with possible botters or gil sellers (or people who are just too good) bring in some bats or goblins into the spawn area to ***** up /targetnpc. It really helped when there was a botter that never moved until it spawned.

I love Spook and camp him occasionally when I need cash. There are a few major campers on my server and if he's overcamped I just go hunt Crypt Ghost or Goblin Gruel.
They changed the spawn pattern just a bit when CoP came out and now its easier to grab a skellie when Spook pops. The timers all still work the same.
This last week I camped him for about 10 game nights and I never saw a third pop. A couple times he got killed before 0:00 and still no third pop. Who knows. Little in this game is certain.

Hey, I can confirm that Spook can spawn three times in one sitting. Just had it happen about 10 minutes ago, got my butt handed to me by another player (who, btw, knows who they are, the uber-fast thief) all three times lol. Anyway, just thought i'd mention it, happy hunting. ^^

i really like the spook, its probably one of my favorite "NM"s (i know it really isnt 1). anyway its cool because its not like the emp or leaping lizziethat takes over 2 hrs >.<.its spawns atleast 2 times a game night! and the drop is selling for 60k now on leviathan.........anyway im6/36 on this guy, not tooo happy about this, but then again it does sound a bit better than some ppl.
i dont know if its true, but i think it would help on this guy if u had chi blast, thats what i use, and i beat provoke almost evry time, and charm evry time! like isaid it may just be a rumor, but it works for me!

wha i said is a rumor, is that chi blast is faster than provoke or charm. *sry i am sleepy, and i was thinkin it. i just didnt type it :P
Oh Swisser... i beg to differ ^_^ i beat a JP guy who claimed he was on PS2 about 9/14 times in one night, he got so pissed he gave me the single mantle he got and left, so if a 1-2 second delay wasn`t good enough for being in japan, and having the ps2 making it faster, i guess you can just call me 1337
so what's the ideal voke macro for this SOB. i started huntin' spook today with my Loxely bow...but there wasn't a chance in hell of beating out the vokers.
i went and switched to thf/war and tried out this macro:

You cant make a marco work like this it dosnt work.
If you want to get the spook you realy shouldnt use a marco. The fast way is to select yourself then go to the ability menu and go down to Provoke then you have to hit it as fast as you can, make shure you use the X button and Enter it makes you twice as fast.

I cant stand it any more the spooks HATES me so much and I him im 2/66 on him! lots of thoughs were with TH1 i just dont why he hates me sooooooooo much. :''(

wow if your on ps2 go to job abilities and press provoke and it should say "you must specify a valid target for that ability" so just stand there press X very fast and enter on keyboard and you will get him everytime.
I dont know how, but its possible to have a very very fast connection sometimes. Ive seen it being voked and pulled over before it even is seen by everyone else on my brother's computer, i was watching on mine and couldnt even see him until he was half dead. Anyways, im 50/100+ on this guy (camped him religously over the summer, plus i camped him way before anyone knew about him) 0/28 on Crypt Ghost... no joke... 1/4 on Goblin Gruel (rarely see this guy) anyways, he spawns at 20:00 0:00 and 3:30-4:00 (sometimes) every night Van Diel Time

how do u voke it before it can be seen?
i have only camped this **** 3 times but got the drop 2 times one of them was last night. anyway i was damping goblin gruel which i am 0/1 w/ and i see its 17:00 so im like f*** this ill go see if spook give drop for me. well i get there in time for the first spawn..... damn i miss it and a fellow by the name of Zike gets it..... well then im like opk ill get it this time and i spam voked and got it before u could even seeing it pissing off some making some laugh and zike was like, "wow i never seen that done very nice job" well that was before i told them all i got the drop and then he added himself to the pissed list ^^ anyway its an easy mob to get and the drop aint all that bad its always fun to get there and **** ppl off when i voke before it can be seen. if anyone needs help on getting this drop on fairy ill help u and we can split the price if we get drop they r worth 80k in jeuno atm selling mine at 81k if anyone is interested in that too so thnx to spook and the noobie spook campers i got to buy my neckchopper for my war (lv 20 atm)

well, one night I decided to help a friend with killing some dingbats there. Never botherd camping him before, cause he is always too over camped.
I walkd to the tomb an well, to my surprise it was 19:00 an no one was there... so i thought, hmm... why not. Stayed there got all 3 pops...

sry for the abbreviation but i dont know how to spell it >.> anyway i dont see why some of you are complaining , lol ^^, i'm fll american and i beat **** all the time XD its really not about the servers or the skill...its all about the position and how fast you can voke...the targetnps "spook" deal is a waste of time if you plan to beat people like Hysteric (garuda server)*makes me maaaad* but still just practice on vokeing incredibly fast (hint: try beating 15 voke's per second before willing to beat ****) and you'll getn it in no time ^^. -ps- i got it 3 times 3 drops in a row last night...but my arms were going to fall OFF. oh well enough out of me just keep practicing ^^ >.>

ok this is all u really need to know for this mob he is very very easy to claime and hes easy to kill he can spawn from 20:00-4:00 but i always see him spawn at 20:10 and if u can kill it quick enugh u can get it to spawn 3 times in total...u must have it killed the second time befor 23:55 for it to spawn a 3rd time or alse it wont...and its drop rate is very very good if u sub thf

He's spawned at 3:56 for me...twice. I do think the speed of killing it is related to whether it spawns two or three times. Before you flame, please listen to this rather logical explanation: Considering this is a normal monster and NOT a NM, it has a spawn rate just like any other monster like a rarab or crawler...although it does varies the spawn window is strictly limited between 20:00 and 4:00, since that would be 'night time' during which ghosts spawn (the spawn window of a bogy you'd find in the dunes, for example). Although the spawn rate is not set and varies a little bit, if the Spook WEREN'T restricted to the night hours during which it COULD spawn, it would continue to spawn at the same rate throughout the day . If you DIDN'T kill it...it would just sit there and spawn only once...and then disappear at 4:00 if nobody were to claim it.
Basically: Pretend he's an Orcish Fodder with an approximate 3 Vana'diel hour spawn rate (which varies somewhat) that has a max spawn number of 1 at a time, and can only spawn from 20:00 and disappears at 4:00 if unclaimed. That's Spook. Oh, and has a very nice drop.
The drop rate should be around the following:
Normal person: 1/14
TH1: 1/10
TH2: 1/7
Just based on observations and what other people say while camping him. I'm 4/36 w/ TH1.
As for the "carrion worm" complex...I believe we all get this.

I have camped spook for about 3 days now and claimed it about 10 getting 7 drops. I also paid lots of attention to the spawn of spook and kill speed does matter in the number of times it can spawn. However, in my experience fast kills have reduced the drop rates of my brother and I. Secondly, I argue that the killing of the skeletons in that area also affect the spawn rate of spook. If you notice, the skeletons always spawn first. Once they come out spook follows so the faster they die the more chance you have of a 3rd pop.
When my little taru starts to spam, ALOT of the time it will select something through the wall! like a worm or goblin. no matter what position i go in, is there a way to fix this?

Ok this guy spawns at 20:00-23:00 then after that it is 24:00-3:00 then its 3:00-4:00 note it will spawn between 20:00-23:00 and 24:00-3:00 always but the last one is random.

ok...I have been camping Spook since I was a wee little lvl 30 WAR which was almost a year ago to date. Here is what you need to know: Yes, he can spawn 3 times, but no it does not matter how fast you kill him or what times he spawns...I say this because I have had him spawn at about 0:53 and then spawn again at 3:09 in the same night and also times where some loser beat me and took over an ingame hour to kill and he still spawned also. It's just pure luck, plain and simple. The drop I don't think is set to any given rate or w/e but face it ppl, TH does help, and if u have enough time to camp any NM(even tho spook isnt) u have enough time to lvl THF to 15. Some ppl just get very lucky, and others the game holds a grudge against them or w/e cuz they cant get drops. All I know, is when im low on cash, I hit my good friend spook up for some mantles and he usually delivers. Send me a /tell if your on Quetzalcoatl and need somethin.

Edit: Whole post. Made a guess at exact spawn pattern and was wrong. Camped him last night and here is his exact spawn pattern.
Being an undead out-doors, he only spawns from 20:00-4:00. He'll spawn shortly after 20:00. Around 20:15 or so. Kill him as fast as possible. He'll respawn 3 game hours (7.5 real minutes) later. Kill as fast as possible again. If it's still night time, he'll spawn a third time 4 game hours (10 real minutes) after his second death. The typical pattern I saw was something like this:
20:00 - Night time begins
20:15 - Spook spawns, along with a couple skeletons
20:30 - Spook is dead
23:30 - Spook respawns
23:45 - Spook is dead again
03:45 - Spook respawns
As you can see, you don't have a lot of time to kill him if you want 3 spawns/night, but it's also not very hard, since he's a lvl 11-13 mob. Good luck! :)
